you lied to invade iraq !...you destroyed a cohesive and controlling secular stable regime !...you caused a chaos and an occupation resistance war !...you provoked intentionally a sectarian war to make the iraqis fight each other rather than fighting the occupation , and unfortunately you succeeded !...you caused an atrocity that massacred at least 500,000 iraqi people !....
and after all that , somehow you are the good guys !؟ , and somehow you are convinced that you could make the iranians abandon their nuclear , missiles and chemical programs , so you can do it again !؟

I realize this is from 2003. This video was very odd to me. Why were none of these guys carrying a full combat load of ammo, grenades etc.? Why did the radio guy only have a pistol, and looked like he was wearing a flight suit? I know it's the Marines, but their load bearing gear, flashlights, K-bar, flaks look like they were vintage Viet Nam era equipment.
That was just kinda how the Marines were. Old gear. Even in boot camp and MCT in 2005 we had old 60s and 70s gear. When I was there in 2006-2007 we wore flight suits because they were supposed to be more flame retardant (roadside bombs) than the regular marpat utilities. Then in 2008-2009 we were issued FROG gear to wear both in vehicles and on foot patrols. I remember getting yelled at for leasing a patrol and letting Marines wear regular cammies despite PCC and PCI…SMH. Even between the 2 deployments our flak jackets were MUCH deferent. They became heavier and bulkier. “PPE prevents proper engagement”….. oh and the flashlights with the 90° angle are still common and definitely have their uses to stay relevant to todays warfighters needs. As far as a full combat load goes, idk what the ROEs were. This is some sort of LAV unit. I read up in the comments they were reservists, so that could have something to do with it. I was active duty AAV and we had a minimum ammo requirement wether we were in vehicles or on foot. Most of us carried 6 or more magazines plus the one IN the rifle and SAW gunner had 300 round and then A gunner would have maybe 200 more. Hope that explains some stuff.
If the soldiers in the video are still alive, they are in their 50s. Greetings to all of you.
@@SolBullls no we aren't! Most of the grunts in Iraq were no older than 21!
I was 19 or 20 when I got there in 03.
I was there in 03 and no matter what the local natives and jundis told us we ( my platoon). Never trusted a word they said, we left that up to our rupert, who thankfully was a tour wise already
Went through all this for a couple of decades just to abandon them again and hand them back over to the enemy. Sickening
That day I was eight years old and my father was a Sukhoi 24 pilot. I said to my father, "Where is your plane?" He said, "When you grow up you will know very well where my plane is." My father retired in 1997, at the age of thirty. The reason is that they were skilled. Saddam Hussein was afraid of brave pilots.
The Sukhoi 24 is a really cool jet! I love Sukhois.
That war was so unnecessary all based on a lie

ACU's, for the Army, began being phased in in 2005 I believe. I was in Baghdad 2004-2005. My unit still had the Tri Color Desert uniforms and the green camo (woodland) IBA. New guys came to my unit toward the end of the tour and they had the tri color desert IBA as well as the DCU's. In 2005 after we got home we began having to wear the ACU's.
I think woodland camo BDUs and PASGTS looked way better than ACUs and ACH helmets. I don't like digital camo and ACH helmets look too small.
ACUs sucked, they literally blended in with nothing

The main reason they are so lax is because they are a reserve unit and not an active unit such as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd LAR. I served in 1st LAR and it was nothing like this for us. Also, this was around the first invasion when the insurgency hadn't really begun. They were thinking more conventional and became complacent after. My unit was extremely strict with everything and we carried way more gear. With being an active unit and with changes after the invasion we were way more disciplined.

I too wish I could have been there for the early invasion period. I was denied enlistment due to medical issues I couldn't not get around. Had a lot of good friends go not all made it home, RIP, but most did. I'm not saying this in a ignorant "I just want to kill" mentality but the value of being part of something so historical and for the feeling that I was part of something that will never be forgotten. Thanks to all that service in every branch of service.
When the war started in 1991, I called the army recruiter and asked what I have to do to get into the fight. he said they were getting too many people trying to get in and I needed to call back later. Anyway, I think it just wasn't my fate to be in the military. The Lord spares some from war because we have a different job to do.
I went. it sucked balls. not at all like what you think. be glad you didn't go
Sean Sullivan wanna feel like you did something or was apart of something? Paint a school, donate too charity, give too the homeless..theres other ways of doing so without invading another country..i am set too join here pretty soon..but im not doing it too be apart if history or too shoot some people or even too keep piece in a different country..i want too join too be there for the guy (or girl) next too me wearing the exact uniform i am..i want too join too take a bullet for a total stranger if i have too..its about the brotherhood and camaraderie and its about keeping our way of life how it is too this day..its not about being apart of history..no disrespect but it seems like you wanted too go too kill Iraqis and be there for the spearhead of the invasion..im sure you know war is hell, and from every vet, video, book, or article ive read, no one goes too be shot at or step on IEDs or whatch civilians die in the middle of it but they go too prevent their newly formed brothers from falling victim too those very things..its awesome too be patriotic and too love your country, but its not awesome too be the guy who tells people further down the road that they were their when sadams statue fell, and they watched as many people were uprooted from their homes, forced out of their homes, killed, or worse..but when you tell them that yeah i saw it but i was making sure my guys, my soldiers or marines were all safe and secure in this god awful fucked up situation the government dropped us in
Name Not found couldn't had said it better. I'm enlisting into the Marines someday God willing, and I am doing it for the honor and loyalty. War breeds a certain brotherhood no one will normally have, and I want that brotherhood. It never occurred to me that I want to enlist to be a part of something historical but then again, I want to go out to war because there are people who just can't fight for themselves. SO many people hate on the American military and it's allies but at the end of the day, we're mainly trying to fight to help people. Or at least those who are intelligent. Everyone has a calling, a mine is to go halfway across the world to liberate a village from radicals or militants so that those people can live THEIR lives without having to be in constant fear. I don't wish that on American people, so why would I for anyone else y'know?
Name Not found When you hear all these war stories from vets and read about the battles that Marines have fought since ww1 its sounds badass and makes you want to join and be apart of it.I don't blame him for that and alot of guys joined to go to war. This might sound crazy, but some guys actually like the adrenaline of combat.

Man real war must be such a struggle. Look at how much time they spend just travelling around, finding casings, talking to people, must be hours, days on end thinking "I'm gonna die oh shit oh shit oh shit when's it coming" before any combat even happens
AlrightPC yeah and alot of the time the guys are just sitting around smoking and talking about girls they've never been with

I believe that was Lt. Col. Pappas at the beginning. I was there with "C" co. 1st platoon in 2003. And just so you know, this footage is the camera man hanging around the com/log element. A lot of it seems pretty nonchalant, because they are within secured areas where the line platoons are operating nearby. C company was not there for long, just march thru june LAVcommander, but we were there for 4 months, not weeks. this film follows the command not the main force of "c" co and Tarawa.

Look dude, Our goal was to create a sustainable security force to protect Kabul from Taliban rule. Sure we can't get rid of them all but that wasn't the whole point. Our goal is complete and now they can teach the next generation on how to sustain security. BTW we do kick ass all the time. They attacked my convoy with PKMs and mortars in an L shaped ambush. 50 cals flying toward their direction and they ran in fear for their lives. The Taliban isn't as tough as you civilians think.
This looks a lot nicer and calmer than what came afterwards......... a time before the pretty much constant brutal insurgent attacks, constant ambushes and enormous number of road side bombs...

6:10 Why does he say Comanche Victor when the Nato Phonetic alphabet is Charlie Victor?
Callsign
That was a call sign , imagine if everyone used the standard alphabet it would be mass confusion , we changed call sign frequently to keep insurgants confused and never getting a fix or Target any one fire team which also eliminated any bounty on a Marine. It shows how much technology has changed the way we fight wars , no more black book with names and seized equipment it's all recorded digitally and hq gets info instantaneous and added to database now there's no way it captured they could gain valuable Intel and position of Marine units. Pretty soon ground infantry will be very rarely used , air combat is the game. Drones , unmanned armoured vehicles and robots will be winning wars for us . The 0311 MOS will be faised it out sooner than later.

I’m thirty one now, I remember my principal crying over the intercom saying we’ve been attacked on 9/11. My dad soon left after to Iraq it was his second time, he’d previously gone during desert storm. Such old footage but seems just like it happened yesterday. Even by the time I turned 19 and tried to join the war was still going on perhaps more vicious then ever. Sadly my epilepsy came up and I never got to serve I thank you all could go and make the sacrifices to give us what we have today.
Out of curiosity, how come some are wearing MARPAT and others are wearing the old desert BDUs?
Cole Lawton well since MARPAT was introduced in the early 2000s just around this time it was in the phase where Marines were outdating the old uniform pattern. Also regulations may had been a bit weird at that time.
You should seen how ugly the early MARPAT were they were mostly black instead of green and zipped off the sleeves
But the Marine Corps changed the pattern up and boom Digis became MARPAT
