- This video is a tribute to the SP745 and her crew. I shot and edited A Love For Steam with the help of the members of the Louisiana Steam Train Association. They ran the SP745 to Baton Rouge, LA one beautiful sunny days in 2008 and I chased with my camera, later catching the interviews with some of the integral members. These folks are dedicated to keeping this Southern Pacific steam engine alive for past, current and future generations to enjoy and appreciate.
Look them up at lasta.org
Not only is this a great steam locomotive video, but a great music video as well!
Roger thanks so much! It was so much fun to shoot and edit. I'd love to do it again now14 years later. The old engine is still around
You may wish to add the tags "railroad" and "railway," as well as, "steam locomotive" to generate the viewers such a work deservers.
Although the name is the Louisiana Steam Train Association, "steam train" isn't a common term.
Unless someone was specifically looking for LASTA like I was, they wouldn't know about it. I stumbled over it searching for another video.
And it is those who don't know of LASTA are the ones who need to see it.
Thanks.
Interesting, . . . .
So that's what happened to the engine that was in Audubon Park. I wondered what had happened to it. Wasn't there also another engine being kept there? A smaller one? Could have been in the 70s or 80s when I saw it.
My brother and I used to play on that engine when it was on static display in Audubon Park back in the late 50's and 60's. Great to see that it didn't go to the scrapyard.
In every which way, the 745 is one fine Southern lady and I can't wait to see her out and about soon!
Great work. Great editing job. It flows well, is not boring, and is interlaced.
Now it is much easier to show people how I spend time on Saturdays.
Among our other numerous projects including our State Bicentennial Tour, we are moving our yard. While there are numerous videos of trains, maybe someone can document the building of a rail yard. Maybe time lapse photography? Two operating railroad cranes.

Used to be a member of LASTA until my membership expired. Never got the chance to renew it.
Can't wait to see 745 at steam fest
What is the name of the song at the end?
Bill Johnson's "Ghosts Along the Lines
