bro just casually explains getting mauled by a bear lmao
right wtf
Yeah I'm not American or Canadian and maybe cos of that I'm terrified of the things and would never ever go into an area where there's a possibility of them being around.
There's just something about the inevitability of seeing a bear and knowing it's gonna come for you, combined with the horror stories of them keeping you alive to feed off that makes me want nothing to do with them.

For those who likes fishing. It's quite a fun thing to do I suppose, putting a bait in the ocean and a live thing comes and bite it, drag it up and it becomes a free meal, a test of patience rewarded.
Would you now willingly hook a bird, a guinea pig, or a rabbit or some other land animals as big as some of your biggest catches in the sea, then drop them into the sea and force them to drown? I don't think you would, because it's monstrous and ghastly.
That is exactly the same with fishing except it's just the opposite, sea animals lack lungs made for land, and land animals lack lungs made for sea. You see them less as they are in the sea doesn't make them disposable or deplorable and has a lesser capacity for living. Why do some people rush to rescue whales that beached themselves in public then proceeds to fish the smaller ones out of the sea?

Not to me, super high level chefs like Gordon know how to cook even simple, basic one-ingredient things like a fresh salmon REALLY well. There IS a difference in quality when you're THAT that good. Knowing how to cook something really well, and knowing how to cook something PERFECTLY is a BIG difference, that might not seem like it on paper, but you can tell when you taste it.

Fish tastes better after you age it for 5-7 days. The western world is obsessed with eating 'fresh' fish, but just like dried aged beef, fish picks up flavors if you let it rest a few days.
@@deanx0r Not an expert in any way, but doesn't the blood and bacteria kinda cause the fish to spoil?
@@ljph5647 usually the fish is bled out before the flesh is prepared, but afterwards you pat the surfaces dry and let it age in a cool and dry place.

I like how they both compliment each other on their professions. Both so humble and appreciative.
I sadly just moved from the Pacific Northwest and away from amazing coho and chinook fishing. The guy mentions that the salmon Gordon cooked “melts in your mouth” and he’s not kidding. It was a day old catch too. When you catch them and immediately clean, filet, and cook them the meat doesn’t flake apart, it does seem to melt in your mouth. The taste and texture is unlike anything you can find elsewhere.
So true, I commercial fished salmon in Monterey bay.

@@JeLifeCoach Best part was that it was free! Fall is nice but it's so damn hard to calculate when the foliage is the best. One day half the leaves are still green, and a couple days later they're all on the dead and on the ground. The traffic is abysmal because everyone comes here that time of year. It’s so hard to catch winter kings. I love what the captain said about the smell. after you do it enough you can literally smell the difference between king salmon and other species. Craig is a cool town.
What makes winter kings tougher than regular kings?
There rare in the winter, less rare in summer. There is definitely a reason they are called kings. Sockeye is my favorite, they are different Then other species, in that they are filter feeders. They still eat herring and what not but mainly filter feeders as in they have another Gill plate and eat plankton. Things you learn in marine biology in Alaska.
