    My love for fishing definitely
    started with crab snaring. I started with pier and jetty snaring (not as fun as the beach) but even after catching salmon and halibut from the kayak, nothing beats the feeling and the fight of bringing in crabs on the beach who are dragging on the sand. The best feeling thus far was bringing in three keepers on one snare. Glad to see that you have discovered crab snaring and hope you continue to enjoy it!

      @@MooMooOutdoors pro tip: if you are snaring by yourself and have a good one on, I would slowly walk back while you are reeling to help bring the crab away from the surf. It’s easy to have the crab get loose from a wave so watch for that.

    I started snaring here in Hawaii a few months ago just by tying 6 loop knots above my hook because the crabs like to steal bait. I've been pretty successful at catching white crabs and samoan crabs(mud crabs). I've even caught a few sharks so I like how my setup allows me to still fish. Its definitely a fun and more active way of crab fishing. Great video as always mahalo for sharing.

    Water temp is about 55F year round in NorCal. If you are getting your hands wet they’ll get cold quickly with the breeze without a vapor barrier. Nitrile gloves help keep hands dry and warm while snaring.

    Thanks for another cool video! Trying to crab snare up here in Washington. Can you tell me what finger protector Carlos was using? Would like to get a good pair and I'm finding mixed reviews on all of them. Thanks!!!!

      Hi FamilyNick, in Amazon search for fishing finger protector. I got something similar to those, they are great when casting heavy weighted snares and you are using braided line

    So happy to hear you were catching females and releasing them. I just spent three days in Tomales bay, outside the bay. I didn't catch one female. It was very concerning. I also didn't catch much crab in the 3 to 5 inch size. Either 2 inches or smaller or guage busters. It was very strange.

    Hi, How do you cast the snare FAR?

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  3 месяца назад

      Longer rods can help cast far but what I noticed was you don't have to cast far.

    • @oneksalami7791
      @oneksalami7791 3 месяца назад

      I was just asking in general on how to Cast Far. I thought maybe there was a technique you’d like to share for that. Because when I go to Pacifica pier, all the big crabs are far away and there are some people that cast far. If you have a technique, I would love to use it. I am a beginner at this too. But thanks for you video, it’s really helpful in my journey to crabbing.

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  3 месяца назад +1

      @oneksalami7791 i think it's something you have to develop over time. Different people have different techniques.
