  • Underwater footage of West Coast crab snare action at it's finest. If you've always wanted to know what happens to your snare at the bottom of the ocean, now you do! In just one soak, I filmed 5 species in their natural habitat. Do I finally snare a legal dungeness crab and capture it underwater? Watch to find out!

I watch every underwater crabbing video I can and this one is a favorite. By watching them I discovered pretty fast why I was coming up with empty bait cages and no crabs. I was initially told to soak my snares for about 15 minutes, Way too long. I now always check to see if there is added weight on the snare before I strike. Saves a lot of casting and reeling.

You should make your own snares using fluorocarbon and uni knots. Better at snagging them legs. I use it for catching blue crabs with a carp cage with uni knot snares tied to it attached to my rod and reel. Carp cages are perfect little bait holders.
