  • Imagine pain every time you heard a sound. Every time. That was Brady's life. He had seen every kind of doctor, undergone every possible test, but all he had was a diagnosis without a solution. Then he was treated and quickly saw results. Pain was reduced dramatically. Soon he was doing things he hadn't been able to do - going out to eat and being exposed to even the loudest of sounds any problems. It was life-changing!

Why are ENTs and most other medical "professionals" so clueless? It's ridiculous how many people are suffering from things that have such simple solutions because of an ignorant medical establishment.

My ears are so painful mainly from my dog's incessant barking especially when she barks into the glass in the window. It hits a decibel that feels like a needle in the center of my canals. Coincidentally my jaw is terribly misaligned as well and is one of many reasons why my dr and I have been considering genetic testing for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. This makes me think that my jaw has partially dislocated due to my weak collagen support....could my ear muscles/cartilage suffer from the same reasons? Any EDS sufferers out there struggle with ear pain?

Mine started in Feb. 2014...Back in ‘08 I had my left, bottom wisdom tooth pulled. Then. Over the next years, the wisdom tooth above it shifted...flash forward to Feb ‘14. The tapping started, induced by a team, a burp, but sound NEVER set it off though.
I self diagnosed, went to dentist and had the shifted tooth pulled in May of the same year. I noticed the duration of this shortening by mid summer. By December it was gone. I diagnosed the root of the tooth entangling my facia nerve. I’ve even had the staepedial type as well, but only a couple of times.
I hope this helps somebody out.

I have had this for about 5 years. Just feels like fluttering in my eardrum. Very annoying. I think it was caused by listening to music loud on my headphones during my 20s. It went away for a long time, but reared its ugly head again recently.

@@mystify79 Hmmm. Mine started about 5 years ago. Mine is in my left ear too. Sometimes it will go away for a year and then come back, especially if I’m anxious or have been listening to music loudly on my headphones. To me, it’s an erratic fluttering without a steady beat. Its like when you’re eyelid or muscle twitches. It’s annoying, but not annoying for me to actually get something done about it. I’ve just learned to live with it.

The same thing happened to me when I got a nasal steroid spray for what was misdiagnosed as glue ear but what was sudden hearing loss. My ears block constantly and I have pain and pressure plus hyperaucusis. I am in hell. If it had been treated properly as sudden hearing loss I wouldn't be in this hell. Misdiagnosed by 3 so-called ENT experts.

I’m here because I’m trying to figure out why it sounds like an ATV idling in my right ear. This may be it. I regularly irrigate my sinuses with a saline rinse squeeze bottle per my ENT recommendations. I also periodically/frequently develop a very muffled but elevated hearing response in the right ear. Strange and annoying for sure.

It definitely sounded like an engine running in my ear…. I’d say about 1800 beats per minute. I always described it to people as though my eardrum was spasming; which, apparently is what it was doing. I had it for months. I was concerned because my sister had just been diagnosed with Ménière’s disease and the muddled sensation I was having in the ear was similar to her sensation. Then it finally just resolved one day and never returned.

@@thompsona10625 yes same here. I too wondered if it was menieres. I looked back and I first woke up with my ear blocked on Dec 13, I had an MRI with contrast on 16th (I had to stop them and ask for extra ear protection!), woke up with the vibrating/hum on the 19th. I wonder if the loud MRI irritated an already inflamed ear and maybe that’s causing it. I wish I knew. All I know is that it’s almost impossible to deal with when it’s at its worst. I’m so glad you feel better!

    1) the presence or anticipation of a specific sound, produced by a human being (eg, eating sounds, breathing sounds), provokes an impulsive aversive physical reaction, which starts with irritation or disgust that instantaneously becomes anger; 2) this anger initiates a profound sense of loss of self-control with rare but potentially aggressive outbursts; 3) the person recognizes that the anger or disgust is excessive, unreasonable, or out of proportion to the circumstances or the provoking stressor; 4) the person tends to avoid the misophonic situation, or if he/she does not avoid it, endures encounters with the misophonic sound situation with intense discomfort, anger, or disgust; 5) the person’s anger, disgust, or avoidance causes significant distress (ie, it bothers the person for whom he or she has the anger or disgust) or significant interference in the person’s day-to-day life (eg, the anger or disgust may make it difficult for the person to perform important tasks at work, meet new friends, attend classes, or interact with others); and 6) the person’s anger, disgust, and avoidance are not better explained by another disorder, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (eg, disgust in someone with an obsession about contamination) or posttraumatic stress disorder (eg, avoidance of stimuli associated with a trauma related to threatened death, serious injury, or threat to the physical integrity of self or others)

You're describing misophonia. That has nothing to do with this video. Misophonia is a psychological condition that does not involve pain. This kid had pain hyperacusis/TTTS, which is not a psychological condition. These two conditions are worlds apart. You're talking about disgust and annoyance. She's talking about PHYSICAL PAIN. It's like anxiety vs. a broken foot.

I’ve had this about 8 years now, usually not painful, it’s worse at night, sounds like rice crispies in my ears, started on my left now on both sides and it’s driving me insane. I can stop it by shifting my jaw completely left or right and holding it, now imagine doing that and trying to go to sleep. I had complete hearing tests, C.T scans, etc, saw nothing. Doctors at first thought it was Cranio-mandibular dysfunction, TMJ. Fitted me for a Splint, Nothing. I have Fibromyalgia and wonder if that’s affecting my inner ear?
