what! ballad was totally the thing in korea.. way more back then than now. If you go to korean karaoke more than half of the time you hear ballads in 90's and early 00's. Before kpop boom, which was around 2007-2009, it was either ballad or dance songs. and there were tons of ballad songs then. IU started around 2008, when kpop as we know it was taking shape. Everything was so new to the audience, so it took some time to convince, but she was able to take a huge part of the era of kpop as we know it. IU being an amazing artist definitely helped.

The song is so heartwrenching, with its longing lyrics showing the struggle of not being able to forget someone and wanting them to come back, and her emotion-filled voice that just screams out her pain. I really want to know why Loen decided to debut IU as a solo singer. At that time, most young trainees debuted in groups but Loen really put faith in what they are doing with IU. Also, instead of giving her cutesy and bright song for 15 years old IU, they give this deep and meaningful song for IU. How could a company see through what kinda artist IU is since the beginning? Not all agency can do this. How come they see such gem in IU while the other agencies could see that so they turned IU down before. That’s always be my question to LOEN for years.

The song is so heartwrenching, with its longing lyrics showing the struggle of not being able to forget someone and wanting them to come back, and her emotion-filled voice that just screams out her pain. Damn. The music video is even an art piece by itself, with all its unusual environment and symbolism. What a powerful piece. Props to the producers of this song and IU for delivering it so perfectly.

Honestly don't know. Allegedly the first audience fought she was just too young for such an amazing song. Envy or Jealousy? Who knows? All that really matters is that she got the appreciation she is deserving of now. Just kind of sad because what happened on her debut performance. She was excited for it being her first performance and then being brought down crying at the end from the audience allegedly shouting at her say such things her apparently being chubby back then.

back in 2008 when this came out, IU was a baby but it did have some popularity. IU's popularity boosted a lot after nagging and good day. when she starred in Dream High, her popularity shot up super high. if there are haters, they are probably uncultured noob fans that know nothing about earlier gen music

I really want to know why Loen decided to debut IU as a solo singer. At that time, most young trainees debuted in groups but Loen really put faith in what they are doing with IU.
Also, instead of giving her cutesy and bright song for 15 years old IU, they give this deep and meaningful song for IU.
How could a company see through what kinda artist IU is since the beginning? Not all agency can do this. How come they see such gem in IU while the other agencies could see that so they turned IU down before.

I listened to this song when i was 13 years old from one of my friends ipod, that was the first song which ever make me that kind of emotional .. i didnt understood literally like a one word of it, but there always a somekind of power of that this song, i didnt even knew the name of the song. there was a only one english word , that was 'iu' . Past 10years i never forget the melody of this song.. i kept searching it . I listened to her lots of albums but this one hit differently .. still my no 1 song , i dont know why is it soo underrated but for me this was the song that ever made me realize that music have no language ..
