Same! 😂
Coach Tom is absolutely my fav teacher right now. Cheers from England 🏴
Still waiting to find out if the rashguard color theme is based on your arm tattoo or the other way around!
Thank you so much for these video, they have helped me immensely as a white belt
Holy sh*t coach!!! how u read! my mind iv been getting messed up with them half guard dudes!
Thanks alot coach!!
ㅎㅇ
Great video once again!
Pure gold, tks again professor Tom!
Super slick details and production!!! Excellent!!!
Excellent stuff and I use this type of kimura attack all the time. Those were some nice details on how you escape your leg and the different type of finish. Thanks again and your videos are always top notch!
Very clear and super helpful. Thank you
This is such a great video. I'm new and these basic strategies for passing and escaping help me a lot.
Thanks great video!
Amazing video!!!!! Thank you so much for your instruction. It has greatly improved my jiujitsu.
Gonna try this on Monday 😈 thanks coach davey!

This is just what I needed!!! Released on my birthday too, thank you :D
Tom the 'Swol-fessor today daym!
😂
抢到板凳客 谢谢老师,又学了一招
I am getting way better with this
Tom can you do a video on how to defend the knee slice from half guard, ideally in the Gi? It’s very difficult to get an underhook when my opponent is gripping my lapel. Thanks ahead and love your channel!
Too good
Coach, I see that you've been bulking up.
✔️👍
It's not easy to just get around the corner on a person who is skilled at half guard and has good framing and is winning the grip battle. Otherwise I love this :)
Question! : can you do this variation when the person who has u in half hairs goes for the lock down ? Love the vid
Why are these vids better quality than some $100 instructionals?
Edit: Not referring to Tom's instructionals. I'm sure those are great.
They were filmed a while ago, we since have a new Videographer. They will most likely be filmed again
@@garrybutterfieldfilms4501 It's a compliment not a complaint. This channel is great and I'm looking into the instructionals you offer. I'm referring to BJJFanatics, etc. DVDs where the clearest audio is the camera guy eating.
@@richardglass3182 oh no worries thanks man, sorry, it's just we were talking about this not long ago so it was fresh in my mind. Hahaha gotta love the cleanest audio being the camera guy eating lol
Thanks for posting this, what next my bank account PIN number? Fidelity account access code?

"pass everyone's half guard" except this video doesn't explain how to get past the knee shield at all. He wouldn't let you turn the corner and basically go all the way around past his knee shield. This video isn't a rigorous or serious video about passing halfguard when it doesn't properly address the knee shield.
I really like the work you do but this one was not good. The guy is doing half guard very badly in this video. Not squeezing the thighs? No hipscape to gain the underhook? This doesn't portray a good half guard. Cheers
To be fair it is a basic demonstration. This attack does work against against good half guards. Also those things you mention can be countered by using the inside (non trapped) knee like he did with that angle change. Also you don’t necessarily need them to reach deep for the underhook. As long as you can time their movement and time your hip bump and reaching over their triceps with your top arm (closest to the head) when their elbow has any separation from their body then you can execute this move. I don’t know if that explanation made sense but I hope it did. Search for some of the rolling kimura videos and they will kind of help with this.
@@robbie31580 hi there, your explanation makes sense and I agree with some parts, but I still think that the guys doing half guard is positioning his body very awkwardly, and thus, facilitating Tom's move and attack. I believe the title of the video is misleading as its not and extremely effective move against someone who is good at half guard.
Renato Couto I’m a purple belt and I use this style of pass against black belts with success. It is one of my basic passes. Try it out and play around with before dismissing it.
I’m a half guard player and I’ve been caught with this. But, the two main issues are his head position and not turning the corner. His ear should be pressed against his chest and his base arm should be planted on the other side. The underhook should be deep and shoulder tight against the body. Fishing for the kimura would be difficult if his arm is behind your back. This move is effective but you need to attack at the right time, before he establishes a good underhook or maybe while pummeling the underhook
Awesome demo of the basic idea/concept for a short video. Sure, your going to have bait good half guard players and mix things up a bit to force them out of position. I can attest - definitely works against very high level half, especially if you figure out ways to get sneaky with it.
IMO this is good for tournaments but in reality but in reality his right hand is doing nothing while you have 2 hands tied up.. I'd put a finger in the eyes
I don't think your fingers would be able to reach his eyes with his pressure on your chest like that... But you are right, both his hands are tied up on the kimura with a bad base, if people do this to me my right hand goes into their armpit and then I don't bridge but use my legs sort of like John Wayne sweep with high hips, if he doesn't base his right hand he'll get swept, if he does I grab his waist then bridge him the other side. If you do this it's sort of asking to be swept
Ronbo Nick and he could smash the guy under him by ground and pound? Whats your point?
@@Zhcwu Ditto - The techniques are good and I do understand learning different positions and counters - But many times there are escapes not shown etc TTYL Good Channel tho
