This is why I love eminem, he's not the only one, many artists just make music and people like eminem make emotions and put them into songs when he isn't being silly or mad. 2pac is long gone, I believe if he was still alive he would still be the greatest but, eminem still, I'm 30 and was alive when he started, makes music that I can just sit back and vibe too. I was bullied all through elementary and middle school, and when this song finally came out in '09 i was already in high school. I felt like it would have been a perfect way to express what I had gone through for eight years - and somehow it fit my attitude perfectly at the time. Relapse was one of the hardest hitting albums I have ever listened to.
I think you hit it with the "pep talks" thing. A lot of us growing up didn't have much - to hear somebody that came from those same roots, broken families, etc come along and say "hey you have worth" is an empowering thing. He also did it in a way that isn't corny. There's no "awww" track being played behind him like you hear in those sitcoms that try to teach those lessons. He's just giving you what you need to hear, like it's coming from a friend. This is why Eminem resonates with so many of us. He doesn't pretend that his life is or was some great adventure. He knows the struggle, because he has BEEN THERE personally. He's had that feeling of "man I'm broke and got bills piling up and my daughter needs diapers." So many other rappers can't have that talk with us, because they're so disconnected from reality, and they rap about things that not a single person who listens to their music can relate to. None of us can relate to having millions of dollars to blow on cars. We don't have models flocking to be around us. We aren't in the VIP rooms at clubs partying out. Very rarely do you hear Em rap about any of that, especially since he got clean. Eminem is the example of a kid who grew up poor as hell, with horrible circumstances in a broken family and no support dragging himself out of the dirt and making it. He's the proof that it can be done. Maybe it's not rap that's our thing, but everybody has that one thing - they just have to find it, and that's the thing Em always encouraged us to do - be different, embrace it and use it as your strength.
Not even kidding when I say this, I wish my dad would take a leaf out of Eminem's book. Eminem has clearly got such unconditional love for his kids, he'll never let them down and will always protect them

So he got angry and went into the studio and he did the way i am alone, with no dr dre or other producers
He wrote this song a little bit in rehab and the rest of it after he got out. Em never wants to go back to that dark place in his life and being able to overcome his demons and depression is "Beautiful".
