Why did we drive 8 hrs to a parking lot in Buffalo, New York you might ask? To meet the BILLS MAFIA, THAT'S WHY! On today's episode of Local Legends, we're hanging out with the Bills Mafia and tailgating some Buffalo Bills Playoff Football! These kooks are jumping through tables, making pancakes on shovels, and taking shots from bowling balls... it was bonkers.
We cooked up some amazing clams and shrimp in the ol' Gozney Roccbox, brought some fresh Maine oysters to pass around, and got to experience the legendary Red Pinto Tailgate firsthand. Pizza Pete and Pinto Ron know how to cook, they know how to host a hell of a party, and they know the way to my heart... which is warm Italian Wedding Soup cooked in a stainless steel garden watering pail on a cold Sunday afternoon in Buffalo.

Peace and love there are about 75 local buffalo chefs that actually cook for a living that brad would be better off seeing. Mike A at the top of the fucking list!
There's something about this that just shows how much food really helps us connect as humans. Sharing our food is both the product of our inherent compassion for each other as a species, and one of the most fundamental ways we demonstrate it. It's never really about the sport, the team, or even the food. It's always been about us.
I mean, yeah, but.... It's the booze LOL, People will never make it through the game without having a full stomach after drinking that much in the morning 😂😂... I mean, some people would look at that as a negative thing. But I see it the same way you do is feeding for the cause... It creates a certain urgency about the food situation... But instead of being frantic about it, it's planned for understand and I just don't think it would be the same if it wasn't like that...
Like the people who make these foods are like local heros... It wouldn't have that dynamic if they weren't literally saving people With a hearty meal

I think Tim Russert said it best about Buffalo (summarizing here)... these other big markets have so much going for them... big buildings, attractions, etc... Buffalo has the Bills. The team means so much to us... and we've created such an amazing culture of kindness and charity unlike anything seen in major sports. I love being a Bills fan and I love the path we've all traveled with them.

But in all honesty, I think the patriots domination made our fan base stronger... Like I think the team would have moved if we didn't just hold it down until the Pagulas, bought the team... Like it only increased our commitment... So that when we got good again, it was like. Is a worldwide sensation... At least I feel like It is but,
I think a lot of other cities would have given up and would have lost the team, Like the oakland As Fans who only started showing up wants the team was gonna be moved, We never had that problem here because we knew what would happen if we stopped...
Does that make sense? I'm not saying it was great. Getting put down for all these years But it made the community that much more important than the game...
@@christylocke5277 honestly I've been pleasantly suprised by Pats fans since our roles were reversed. Like idk once the Pats were dethroned in our division it seems like most of the Mass holes piped down & went into hiding. I almost exclusively talk to the pleasant humble Pats fans now that are super aware of how lucky they were to enjoy 2 decades of domination, and are just fine watching the Bills spend some time in the spotlight. Super refreshing.

Born and raised a pats fan and will always be one. Friend and I bought tickets to a Bills game 2 years ago on a whim and drove from NH to Buffalo 😂 Tailgating was ELECTRIC and it’s the best game experience we ever had.

I've lived in Western NY my entire life and I hope folks who have never been here understand why the love for the Bills runs so deep - Truthfully, we don't have much else to cheer for. It's cold and miserable most of the year, it's pervasively poor, mostly rural, and our towns and cities are falling into disrepair. But every Sunday, thousands of salt-of-the-earth people gather to collectively cheer on a team that loves its fans as much as its fans love them. Keep in mind, the Bills were terrible from the mid-90s until a few years ago, and that energy and passion was still there through the bad years. Now that we're good - my god, it's a great fucken time. GO BILLS!

I moved away from Buffalo when it was the “cool” thing to do. After a few years trying out different cities and regions… I couldn’t take it anymore. People are just so much nicer in Buffalo, the summers are comfortable, winters are great for ripping around on snowmobiles and boarding, traffic is light, the food is world class… and it’s just… I can’t explain it. LAID BACK. I’m so happy to be back for good. Glad you enjoyed your stay dude, this was just one tiny slice of Buffalo/WNY.

This was awesome. Growing up in Rochester, Buffalo is our neighbor so we've got a lot of Bills Mafia. I've never been to a game but now I hope I can get to this tailgate someday just for the camaraderie and the people. And the FOOD
Rip Joe Webber from Buffalo. We used to share a halfway house amidst eight other guys in Hawaii thirty three years ago. Joe was the kindest sweetest man hell bent on Bills football during their 90's AFC dominance. Bbq ribs with a side of slaw.
