I´m honest. Though I own the FS-5 for almost two years now, I sometimes turn back to Mr. Chapman`s tutorials. His statements are clear on the point. Very helpful.
It is a rare talent to formulate deep knowledge in a few sentences in such a way that one understands it as a normal person. I saw some people trying to explain me the picture profiles of the FS5, but no one did it like you. Thank you very much Mr. Chapman!
I do not have white and grey cards to reference and will be filming on the go, so your tip on the 1.5+ EV and then using the auto iris feature is a huge help! Thank you for making that simple for everyone.
Nobody else.. YOU are Da Best for me!!! I learn so much from you, I've been playing your tutorials over and over ... it is such a great way of explaining .. you make me love my FS5 even more :-) A deep bow for you Mr Chapman !
such great information thank you. I have been recording in a darkened professional concert hall, my problem is digital noise. I always thought that an ISO 0f 800 would be better but now I am seeing that an ISO of 2000 or more is better. Is that accurate information? Thank you
Hey Alister, You might want to note that the AE-SHIFT Push Auto trick for setting the exposure with S-log doesn't work if you haven't first enabled it with the IRIS set to auto.
Hi, very hopeful guide, thank you Mr. Chapman. Ive just one question: when I use the metabones adapter and I push the button "push auto" at (14:19) appear the message "Cannot execute functions because the condition of the lens". So this is my question: can I use the function for the overexposing when I use other optics?
Thanks a bunch Alister for the video. One thing I can't figure out is how to change the shutter speed to 1 sec., I set the S&Q to 1fps, at XAVC 1080/24p 50bit, but the shutter will only go down to 6 and not below? Has this changed because I did the update?
Thank You so much for your videos, they're absolutely the best. What if there is no need for cinematic look but for video to look most natural? Yet it would be nice to use cinegammas/logs to utilise those extra stops of light. So, for best natural look (sunny outdoors/holidays) does it make sense to use slog/cinegammas. + grading? I currently use Sony 6300 - 8 bit colours :/
Hullo every one. A simple newby question: which is the lasrgest wide angle **prime** lens I can mount **directly* on this video camera - no adapter of any sort.. Thank you..
i get that "filmic look" when shooting with cinegammas, especially if i shot with cine2 which have lowest contrast range all of them. if i want that "broadcoast standard lookish" but with many details, what more should i do then increase saturation and contrast?
Sorry, I have to ask for your help. My FS5 has a slight play to its smart grip when it's attached to the camera. Have you noticed this? It rotates a little when you pivot the camera and it does so with a metallic sound that might be captured by the mic. Sony supports hasn't replied to me about this yet. Thank you for any information.
So if using the zebras, The correct exposure would be as soon as I see the zebra? not to hit the zebra, then dial the exposure back only just so the zebra isn't showing?
Are you shure? S-Log3 Middle Grey = 41% | Skin Tones = 47 - 52% | White = 61% ? I thinks it is more that the Middle Grey is at 61%!!! Ohterwise footage is too dark and it is noisy.

Thanks so much Alistar. Pulling my FS5 out after a long break. You clear explanations have given me confidence to get back in!
OMG...this is the best video about this camera 🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely excellent training video. Easily the best I've ever seen.
I wish Every camera manufacturer had an Allister Chapman, As alway the best in the business. Clear, to the point, and in-depth enough. Hats off.

As always... An absolutely helpful tutorial from Mr. Chapman! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I know it is pretty off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream new series online?
This is fantastic. I am a proud FS5 owner and Alister's tutorial is packed with great info to get the most out of the picture profiles. Thanks!

Thank you for this clear exposé!
Alister Chapman = My hero.
That really solved my confusion with the S-Log profiles quickly, thank you so much for that tutorial
Thanks for saving my but again! 😸

Are the exposure settings for the cine gammas the same in the A7III?

Thank You so much for your videos, they're absolutely the best.

It does not get better than this. Perfect presentation. Now, how about an update since all of the firmware updates and HDR please.

is there a simulated site or link so that I can practice with the camera? The truth I can afford to purchase it or rent it. thanks!
Shooting 4k 8bit is better use S-Log 2.
How about shooting Full HD ? S-Log 2 or S-Log 3?
Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Sorry, I have to ask for your help.

That is the way I have always done it with Rec.709 and zebras set at 100% but in Log, it may be different...
Our primary school lead us to post graduate studies great choices 😂😢
Porque no lo ponen en español ...
Why does Sony promote 4K cameras with HD videos...

So no one's gonna talk about the skin tones issues here? smh...
