Is the log profile a video mode outputted as a raw signal, meaning, Sony uses the word Raw loosely for a pseudo compressed image when actual Raw is just data? My background is audio engineering and I've done a lot of video and just recently got a huge upgrade to my capturing capabilities for video but the last piece of the puzzle is the camera. I just bought the FS5 with firmware 4.02 but I can't see the ProRes raw options when I look at the menu. Does the Atomos have to be connected in order for it to show up?
Great video. I have the same glitch/flash frame as you get at the 4:02 mark of this video. It is a streaky rainbow of color that fills 80% of the frame. Any clue what causes that?
might be too late, but after doing some research about this, I found it might be because of the SDI cable not being fast enough (has to be 12G). If you've found any alternative answers, would be great to know!

Hi, just a question that I hope you can answer me: when you shooting with raw cinema DNG file, how do you edit the file? I try to explain better: I shoot in 4kDCI 25p in 12bit on my shogun and I use PP7 (s-log2) with 1.7 stpos over exposure but when I put the clips in my davinci resolve I see its underexpose... I use camera raw setting with cinemaDNG mode. But I think that I have to apply some lut that allow the file to slog2 from dng. Any tips on importing footage shot at 240 fps in the 2k mode into final cut pro x? It seems to be playing back at a faster speed for some reason in final cut pro, but when i shot it with the atomos recorder it played back in the monitor at 240 fps, thanks for any tips?

I'm interested in seeing if the firmware upgrade helps the low light capabilities of this set up. From what I've seen the sony a7s ii has better low light than the FS5, but with the firmware update does it improve the low light?

Hello, I am desperate in getting the the Sony FS5 4K DCI 120P RAW to record to my Shogun Inferno. All of the settings are right in S&Q and Shogun shows 4KDCIp119.88, I hit record and it buffers, Shoguns screen gets a red recording line around the screen but when I check playback on shogun, frame rate shows 59.94P also when I drag the footage to Premiere and check Properties, its only at 59.94P. 2K 240P works but not the 4K 120P Burst. Would really appreciate your help on this issue. Did some reasearch and some people have the same problem. Both firmwares of Shogun and Sony FS5 is up to date.
Hi JamesD - Yes that's right, it's a bit odd but that's how the 4K 120/100fps footage displays in any NLE. You just need to conform it, so play at 50% speed and it should all look correct without any stuttering. Let me know if that has worked for you. Thanks for watching! KH
Hi Guys, I've got the raw upgrade and followed the steps in this video however, the 4K super Slow motion burst recording is set at 100fps but only seems to output at 50fps when I check the footage?? Also, despite setting up the 2K super slow (200FPS), it does not trigger when I try to record... I'm using an atoms shogun inferno and FS5 with raw upgrade, the only thing I don't have is the HFR Upgrade, is this what is affecting my ability to record 4K and 2K super slow as well?
I just bought this same setup and i'm still trying to figure it all out. If I want to shoot raw to the shogun, can i do that with an HDMI cable or do i have to have an SDI cable? Thanks
Hey Kraftrad.tv - When the FS5 goes into Super Slowmotion 4K (100/120p) it does not output audio, just the picture is output. However if you have analogue audio going in to the Inferno separately then this will be recorded. However when in 4K 100/120p on the FS5 it’s buffering it, so only works in 4-second bursts. As that burst is then recorded as 4K 50/60p the analogue audio will be recorded at 50/60p. Hope that answers your question. Thanks - KH
Did anyone else notice that at 05:23 the back wheel of the BMX has these nasty looking pink pixel artifacts? They flash on and off. Personally I would throw that footage away and use another part. Can anyone let me know if the M2 has got rid of this 200fps problem or is it still happening?
Still happening the exact same way. Sony Engineering confirmed that it's a sensor readout problem which will not be fixed. And it exists in the FS7 Mark I and II and FS700 as well.
Hi Wex Photo Video! I have all this set, Sony FS5 with the latest firmware + RAW and HFR updates, Atomos Shogun Inferno with the latest firmware, good SDI BNC 12G cables, I configured everything for the HFR mode according to Atomos instructional movie. I only have RAW 4K 60 FPS, RAW 2K 240 FPS. RAW 4K 120 FPS does not work, the colored stripes show up on the screen and only records a few seconds, not a sequence of 60 FPS ... Maybe it's the fault of my weak SanDisk ULTRA II 960GB SSD and I need the Extreme PRO? On which SSD you record? :) Thank you for your help !
You need an external recorder to 'record' the 4k raw the fs5 outputs. It will output the signal with the raw upgrade alone, but no point unless you have the means of recording it.
I'm afraid you are confusing your customers with the difference between 50i and 60i. 50i has always been a PAL format where 60i has always been an NTSC setting. PAL is used exclusively in UK and Europe and NTSC exclusively in America and the Far East. I've never known anybody to film at 30/60p 60i for a UK company or client. please do some research first, otherwise an informative video. Oh and when you say an SDI cable it's just a normal 75 ohm BNC cable, nothing special,

When recording in normal 24p, is it possible to send out SLOG to SDI only for external recording and record internally to XAVC HD in REC709?
What type of cable and connector is used for this setup? There's a lot different SDI connectors online.

When it outputs 4K, can you record 1080p internally and does the rear LCD screen still show an image?
Yes you can record up to 1080p internally whilst outputting 4K Raw over SDI, the LCD screen will work as normal too. Cheers for watching! KH

It requires an external recorder.
When recording RAW to SDI, can I to simultaneous recording to both SD Card slots?
I believe it records to only one SD card. The RAW stream records into the Atomos, and the HD stream records internally to the SD card.

Branson Kendall seems like a NO for answer. Raw signal output from fs5 has higher rate than hdmi2 can do which is only 18Gbps.
