    Great topic for a video!! On my PBJ, over the weekend i was able to hang TWO 4lb whole chickens using the hanging skewers, along with the corn holder with 4 ears, along with the sausage holder with 4 sausages, and 3 small lamb chops on 3 hooks. it was a little tight when it came to removing stuff to check on things. but it all fit and there was plenty of air flow. i also added a bracket about 4 inches below the top bracket for a 2nd rack, and plan on testing that next time.

      Thank you! That is great to hear how to maximize at the same time all of those proteins. Great idea on the second rack.

    Hi Can you tell me exactly how you load the charcoal basket and how many coals you take out for the chimney to start lighting? .. i feel like my pbj is either getting too hot or burning out quicker than it should be, even with the vent just cracked open slightly. thank you

    • @BartlowsBBQ
      @BartlowsBBQ  2 года назад

      Great question! First, I use majority of the time lump charcoal on the pbj. Because of the different sizes it's less about the number. I try to get a thin base on lump in the basket first, I like to drop my wood chunks on there too and then I fire up the chimney pretty much to the top and then drop it down below on basket once it's all white hot. I use Jealous Devil, KJ and B&B.

      Thank you. Thanks for letting me know...looks like PBC was running that code for a season and not active anymore. I appreciate the support if you decide to still use that link.

    How do you add coals if you need to?

    • @BartlowsBBQ
      @BartlowsBBQ  2 года назад

      Depending on your setup on the pit barrel. If you feel you are running low on coals after the cook is going. You can drop some briquettes or lump down into the basket.

      @@BartlowsBBQ well if Im cooking low n slow. Eventually will need to add. So just hsve to drop from the top. Got it

    • @BartlowsBBQ
      @BartlowsBBQ  2 года назад

      @@anthonyz5671 Yup, on the pbc, if you fill the basket full, on average it runs around 270-300 for a while. You would be great for the typical bbq. If you want more that 225 on a pbc, less charcoal and just add from the top. But, in my experience on the pbc, i get great results filling the basket.

    That second image was NOT a pork tenderloin! It was maybe a pork loin. Too wide & the wrong shape for pork tenderloin. What else wasn't the truth?

    It’s in my opinion the most overpriced cooker there is for what you get. In one afternoon you could make an Ugly Drum smoker for a fraction of the cost.

    • @BartlowsBBQ
      @BartlowsBBQ  2 года назад +5

      There are a lot of diy drum smoker options for sure. Smoker Builder is a close friend and has great options for doing it yourself. But, I have done the research of building it myself, it's more of the process and more expensive than you think if you want to do it right. Under $400 (18 gauge steel / porcelain enameled okayed) in my opinion is a cheap barrel smoker which includes rodes, hooks, grill grate, charcoal basket, stand and cover.

      @BartlowsBBQ picked one up on marketplace today for $100 with most of the accessories I think. Looking forward to learning on it, I haven't really done much grilling or smoking but grew up with it so I know how good it can get.
