Love this fucking song. I freaking love the time I was born. I had the privilege to enjoy a real childhood without violence.
I appreciate the juxtaposition of the rebellious angst in the first stanza and the confident realization in the second, which are tied together nicely at the bridge and the chorus.

I like how they revealed Jim's backstory in this sequence instead of having a cliched character insight scene, know what I mean?
I feel like they should make a sequel to treasure planet, but the ratings probably wouldn't be as good as the first one...
unfortunatley the ratings of the movie was pretty bad for a disney movie overall so we probably wont see a sequel sadly enough, it was at the time and still is MY favorite disney movie of all time.

Fell in love with this song thanks to the movie when I was 8. Ten years later and I got to watch my girlfriend watch it for the first time and fall in love with it herself, I had managed to forget about it. Dang, the feels.

School can beat me down, make me want to be alone forever, but I am here, waiting to see new things and do my best. This song really brings up memories, but it's also really important for me. Especially since my girlfriend broke up with me. Now I'm gonna drum this at the exams concert. I'm gonna throw in a little drum solo just before the bridge, so I'm gonna make this epic as hell! :D

This song had always been special to me. But now it holds even more meaning ever since my boyfriend sang it to me when we started talking about how Treasure Planet is an underrated Disney masterpiece. This is more his song than mine since he has gone through a lot. His past really hurt him since he was called "a boy" all because he couldn't keep up with the changes being forced on him. He lived through a terminal illness and thought his second life meant nothing. But I never saw him as anything less, even if he had his flaws and insecurities. He had never been less of who he is. He's full of questions about the world and the great beyond, easily excited about the cosmos, and blessed with a kind heart and sense of humor.
And I'll never get tired of reminding him of all that.
How can the world want me to change? They're the ones that stay the same.

How is it possible to dislike this song? I;m being serious. This has some of the best lyrics and message I have ever heard from a song. Everyone deals with trying to be accepted, and this song helps us feel accepted. Even a Goo hater can relate to this song, its not about love or sappiness, its about being yourself even when times get rough.
I was listening to this and Iris back to back and wondering why they both sounded so similar, then I realized that John Rzeznik is the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls! Awesome!

I dedicate this song to an amazing person ive just met, i know i havnt known him long and now i wont get a chance to now, but i know that he is spectacular and he shines, he is bright and he is brilliant. i wish i had the chance to get to know him more. I love that song so much...society never change...sensitive persons feel like this message by the song..but nothing happens. A lot of songwriters take their lives away for massages like this in a hope to be understand but nothing happens..its really sad avici, linkin park, xxx etc..where are people who feel like this nowadays?
