- Newly discovered, never before published, film of the 1968 Isle of Man TT races, I can spot Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read, but there are many more shots of riders, any help in identification would be appreciated.

Wonderful stuff but I had a lump in my throat watching it. Ive had my 1968 TT programme out while following it. magnificent to see this stuff. There is an almost total lack of any TT footage from 1967 to 1975. Many thanks.
Great info Mr Gold Star, I had worked out Pasolini (you cant really miss the Benelli)
such great men.
This video reminds me of my dad who raced at iom tt at the time
I'm so happy that you found yourself, it's a dream come true for me when I get comments like yours on my videos ( i've had a few on my trials and scrambleing videos too) it makes uploading these old films worthwhile, thanks for your comment.
Thanks for the upload ..happy days 3.50 min The great Percy Tait number 8 on a Triumph
Yes Tommy has the shamrock on his helmet and John Cooper the moon eyes of course, you can't help but love them.
my dad RON GLOVER passenger JOHN PENNINGTON 750cc NORTON finished 13th in the sidecar race 🏁...
More of this era please! At the time was working at Jim Pink Motorcyles at Newbury, the boss was riding a CR110 Honda 50cc then Tony his son started on a works Yamaha TR2B 350cc
Just needs sound ❤🇬🇧🥰
The Isle of Man TT used to be a part of the competition known today as the MotoGP. Today, sadly, no one would even consider putting it back to the calendar.
Yes I think it was a track like the Nordschleife for F1 drivers. We all know that it's too dangerous for todays Standards. The problem also is that riders safety cant be enhanced like at cars (in my opinion they could go back on the Nordschleife) so it wont happen i think
I recall that song differently, with cops busting onto the scene, not the complete opposite .
I was there at the gooseneck on Honeymoon, but the only disappointment was the absence of Mike Hailwood,I kept hoping he would put in an appearance, but it wasn't to be. I went every year 1967-1997,untill I couldn't take any more of the Manx government ripping everyone off .
But Mike was on the Island that year.I saw him driving a red Aston Martin DB5 at the bottom of Bray Hill.I heard he watched the Senior from Quarter Bridge.Probably visited the pub a few times.Must be weird having a pint in a pub with photos of yourself all over the wall!Bloody loved Mike The Bike.People always ask who was the greatest motorcycle racer ever.I always reply Mike was the greatest man ever to race a bike.
Really cool old video! The music, not so much lol
i was there that year as well still have the programme, the late bill ivy was there though i dont know if he was in that race
Percy Tate just after John Cooper.
Derek Chatterton at the Gooseneck?
#17 Benelli I think is Renzo Pasolini, right after the shots of Ago.
totally different riding style in those days
Looks like Brian Steenson on the QUB Seeley at 5m 16s
It's interesting, these guys were blistering fast but yet you don't see them hanging off like today. Their knees barely leave the tank sides and never get close to sliding, with nothing close to the lean angles of even a modern sports bike. It's beautiful to watch.
They were beautiful old bikes and class riders, but the difference is now the riders are going round at 131.5 mph.. AVERAGE not 99.5 average hence the hanging off the bikes.
@dty2dty2 Thanks for your input dty2dty2
2m 05s No 5 Passolini behind Reid and Ivy 250cc
Bill Ivy at the Gooseneck ,right after Phil Read.
Is there any footage avaiable,ANYWHERE, that has actual SOUND?????????
Most cine cameras in those days didn't do sound. Kodak cine films were only about 4 mins long and they weren't cheap.
i think i saw tommy robb tony godfrey and john cooper.
mungo Gerry in the summertime it should be my first visit to the tt
