Yeah, that doesn't guarantee anything but you're on the list, same as the z06 situation. That means if they have any available, they go down the list and call people and ask people if they're willing to pay the market adjustment, hopefully they get to your name. probably won't be as bad as the z06 wait time, but I know a guy who got on the list on early 2020, and his vehicle is due to be produced till 2024, and that's at the dealership with the most allocations in the country, he was 300 on the list.
I'm having a really hard time figuring out the dimensions of the Blazer and Equinox EV. How would you say this competes in size with the Mach E? I have my name down for both the Blazer and Equinox, and will be deciding as we get closer to rollout as to which one I'll order. Finally, I know Chevrolet advertised the Equinox EV as being able to tow up to 1500lbs in the AWD version. Any idea if they mentioned towing capability with the RS RWD, or will AWD be required to tow? I know the Lyriq requires AWD to be towing rated so I'm assuming Blazer fits that as well. Thanks!
re: "I'm having a really hard time figuring out the dimensions of the Blazer and Equinox EV." can't speak for the Blazer (other than it's huge, like BMW iX huge) but the Equinox is definitely the size of the Kia EV6/Mustang Mach E. so if you see either of those out on the road then you'll have a good reference for size in the real world.
Based on comments from GM about the size difference between the gas equinox and EV equinox, and then comments they made about differences between blazer EV and equinox EV, I put this together. Equinox EV Wheelbase: 116.3in 190.4” L x 75.8″ W x 63.1″ H Cargo: 57cf (rear seats folded) Blazer EV Wheelbase: ?? 192.4” L x 78.5″ W x 64.1″ H Cargo: ?? Chevy confirmed that the Blazer EV is nearly three inches wider, just over two inches longer, and about an inch taller than the Equinox EV.
@@cypvh74 re: "Equinox EV Wheelbase: 116.3in". exactly, it's stated to be 9 inches longer than the "gasser" now ref: Kia EV6 wheelbase - 114.2 inches, and Mach-E wheelbase - 117.5 inches.
@@cypvh74 re: "the Blazer EV is nearly three inches wider, just over two inches longer, and about an inch taller than the Equinox EV." translation: "that's a BIG BITCH".
The only real difference is just more width on the interior, just feels more roomy, a little bit more of cargo area, and more amenities. The blazer has more presence, and just feels like a bigger vehicle, the equinox is the more budget friendly choice, and tends to be easier (not more fun) to drive. (source: chevy salesman). I would say the main determining factor for most people is price, and what they want from a vehicle, if they prefer size and comfort, over affordability and ease of use.
I love this! I currently have a 2020 Chevy Bolt EV which I love but it is on the small side and especially the small wheelbase and tires are not my favorite thing but it has been the best car I've ever had. I might trade it in toward one of these next year. Do you know what the cost will be?
Wish I could be at the auto show to get a side-by-side look at the blazer EV vs the equinox EV. It’s hard to get a sense of the size difference between them from separate videos.
Just do it with a regular blazer and equinox lo. The only real difference is just more width on the interior, just feels more roomy, a little bit more of cargo area, and more amenities. The blazer has more presence, and just feels like a bigger vehicle, the equinox is the more budget friendly choice, and tends to be easier (not more fun) to drive.
It's a hatchback. Not a hole bunch more than a VW Rabbit from the 1970s. I personally had a 1979 that routinely got mid 30s mpg. Honda Civic HR was getting upwards to 50 mpg. That was 40 years ago. What the government slash car companies are making these days is ridiculous.
Good review. I like the interior but there's a bunch of exterior aspects that bother me. 1. Rear quarter window. The vehicle looks like a sedan which was redesigned as a wagon/suv. It almost looks like theres mini camper top on the back. 2. 6-lug wheels tells me this vehicle is super heavy. Like the Lyriq I'm guessing this thing is almost a half ton heavier than a MachE, which is already a heavy vehicle. 3. Charge port door looks like it's going to break off in short order.
re: "Rear quarter window." yeah I noticed that too. it's badly designed there for some reason, so much so, that it had me hoping it looks that way because this is just a prototype and that GM would fix that in production. but sadly it's probably going to look that way in final form. thankfully the rest of the design is stunning, but that area DOES detract from the overall silouhette, I find it hard to believe no one inside the GM/Chevy design studio can see that.
That rear quarter window really bothers me..almost like you said and add on. I don't know why Chevy didn't just have a smooth line from front to back along the roofline. There's a clunky "step down" behind the rear door. Awkward

Truly curious. Who out here is really about to pay $75,000.00 for a Blazer? The model in this video is NOW showing 67K on the Chevys website. That's BEFORE it gets to a dealer with all their fees. Seriously, who is about to pay $75,000 for a Chevy Blazer? Tesla about to run laps around these big car companies
Overall design and stance looks good. Not sold on window design after the D pillar. Interior looks decent but not cutting edge. Too much black gloss and garish leather colors. I wish GM would improve their seats and make them thinner profile, scalloped and more supportive. Rear seats look uncomfortable, with barely any contouring. But overall, this is likely to be a very competitive vehicle for the price.
shots fired at Hyundai and Tesla. Not sure if his statements about the blazer having wider rear seats and significantly a bit more room overall make sense. Ioniq 5 is incredibly spacious so much so that it borders on deceptively freakish. Model Y is also in some weird ways bigger than it seems. All in all a cool looking ev first effort by Chevy so hats off especially if they can deliver anywhere near price points but not offering faster charger on top line SS AWD Blazer is beyond bizarre and not in a good way. C'mon GM. I mean, ahem, Stellantis.
I wonder how well all these new EV's are going to sell with the $60k to 80k price point? Ill have to wait until we see them with a 350 mile range at a 35k price.
Aerodynamics are important but by all means let’s put ridiculously oversized wheel/tire combos on it because…form before function. Silly contradiction.
Not everyone buys an EV for efficiency. There's a speed and handling aspect to EVs that Chevy seems to be going for with this trim. And given that most people drive shorter distances, losing a little range for fun isn't the end of the world.
Wow, it's almost like you need larger tires for a 600hp ev with instantaneous torque as soon as you press the pedal down. Especially with inexperienced drivers hopping in this car. If they didn't put those fat tires on, I can only imagine how many lawsuits they'd be in, especially with a rwd drive model only. They can get away with it on camaros and corvette base models. But moms/dads in ev's that have never driven a fast car in the life, are definitely going to hurt themselves and others.
How comes the equinox can charge faster than the Blazer. Does not make any sense. Why not use the same chargers in Blazer and Equinox. The Blazer is more expensive and less performant than the Equinox?
Sigh. Go back to the 1970s and you'll find that the difference was that a sunroof (they came first) was made of metal, and a moonroof was transparent. It had nothing to do with whether they opened or not.
Overall I really like the styling of this,..almost looks like a wagon to me(low, long and wide). One thing bugs me. Looks behind the back seat doors and you can see the side windows behind the doors are a notch lower than the front/rear door line. It just looks awkward to me. I don't know why you wouldn't just flow the rear windows along the roofline so it is smooth all the way back. It almost looks like the windows were added on later....just looks weird to me.
Looks nice however from an engineering perspective this family looks like a mid-transition from gas to full EV. Personally I will wait till 2025 to see how these really do and hold up.

I’m into the Equinox
Could the red interior look any more garish?
Do people still buy red interiors?
Yes
It's a looker. I will probably stick with my Bolt EUV I'm old and it suits me well.
Equinox EV
Wheelbase: 116.3in
190.4” L x 75.8″ W x 63.1″ H
Cargo: 57cf (rear seats folded)
Blazer EV
Wheelbase: ??
192.4” L x 78.5″ W x 64.1″ H
Cargo: ??
Chevy confirmed that the Blazer EV is nearly three inches wider, just over two inches longer, and about an inch taller than the Equinox EV.
@@cypvh74 re: "Equinox EV
Wheelbase: 116.3in". exactly, it's stated to be 9 inches longer than the "gasser" now ref: Kia EV6 wheelbase - 114.2 inches, and Mach-E wheelbase - 117.5 inches.
Ground clearance?
I love this! I currently have a 2020 Chevy Bolt EV which I love but it is on the small side and especially the small wheelbase and tires are not my favorite thing but it has been the best car I've ever had. I might trade it in toward one of these next year. Do you know what the cost will be?
Starting at $45k going up to like $70k
I think the 19kw ac charging on the equinox is aimed at fleets.
Sensible if it is. I can't imagine why they didn't include it here, too. It wouldn't add that much to the price.
560HP? Hmm...thinking about this...🤔
Those Continental ExtremeContact DWS06s' are a great tire, good choice by Chevy to choose them as their OEM tires.
The Blazer is a decent-looking EV but what about its quality?
Chevy Electric Volt has been flawless
Gm ev's tend to have pretty good build quality compared to most imo
Awkward
@@greenne re: "I don't know why Chevy didn't just have a smooth line from front to back along the roofline." ikr...? this is how all the "cool kids" are doing it.
Not every style is for everybody.
@@mr.c6674 You like how they did the rear quarter window?
What's surprising is he's saying the Equinox EV is Model Y-sized while this one is larger than the Y.
prefer the Equinox interior better!!
Ha - Alex on Autos is EV Buyers Guide for EVs now. Subbed and liked. Always like your videos. Very thorough. Thanks. I bought the 2022 Bolt EV 2LT and love it, but this Blazer EV looks awesome in many ways.
That treatment on the front fender and front door is really hideous. 22” wheels? That’s just stupid.
Does anyone know the Blazer EV vehicle dimensions (width and length)?
Truly curious. Who out here is really about to pay $75,000.00 for a Blazer?
The model in this video is NOW showing 67K on the Chevys website. That's BEFORE it gets to a dealer with all their fees.
Seriously, who is about to pay $75,000 for a Chevy Blazer?
Tesla about to run laps around these big car companies
Chevy hit it out of the park with this one! Wish the gas model looked like this too.
That one guy sitting in it -.-
shots fired at Hyundai and Tesla.
5kadm, so just add 5k to any msrp if you can manage to get your hands on one.
Aerodynamics are important but by all means let’s put ridiculously oversized wheel/tire combos on it because…form before function. Silly contradiction.
Blazer is intended to be a sporty EV, like a Camaro crossover, so big wheels and wide tires equal better handling and grip.
Trailblazing. Lol. This thing will never see a trail. Make the Blazer a 4wd Bronco/Wrangler competitor.
It's a sun roof not a moon roof.
Sigh. Go back to the 1970s and you'll find that the difference was that a sunroof (they came first) was made of metal, and a moonroof was transparent. It had nothing to do with whether they opened or not.
How much?
Overall I really like the styling of this,..almost looks like a wagon to me(low, long and wide). One thing bugs me. Looks behind the back seat doors and you can see the side windows behind the doors are a notch lower than the front/rear door line. It just looks awkward to me. I don't know why you wouldn't just flow the rear windows along the roofline so it is smooth all the way back. It almost looks like the windows were added on later....just looks weird to me.
Yes, that bugs me, too. Overall, I prefer the looks of the Equinox. This is just too busy and trying a little too hard to look different.
This is a early prototype
Dimensions?
No frunk = no sale.
Everything is too late
re: "Chevy's Trail-'Blazing' EV..."
Nice! Thanks for the first look!
[Update: "Wow looks like someone (EV hater?) keyed it under the rear logo?" this is a REFLECTION!]
I don’t see it. Time stamp?
That car is as shiny as a mirror. You’re probably seeing a reflection.
That's definitely a reflection of the surrounding area. This is at an auto show
@@Megaphonix Thanks yeah definitely a reflection on left rear at 2:40 as there is the same reflection lines on the right rear a few seconds earlier.
@@FuncleChuck Thanks yeah definitely a reflection on left rear at 2:40 as there is the same reflection lines on the right rear a few seconds earlier.
Looks nice however from an engineering perspective this family looks like a mid-transition from gas to full EV. Personally I will wait till 2025 to see how these really do and hold up.
Two much chrome in the interior.
GM is still sourcing batteries from LG Chem despite all the serious problems with the Bolt fires?
GM finally gets it....
Apik ki yakin berhasil merek iki.
Why no frunk????
"NO FRUNK FOR YOU...!!!" (Soup Nazi voice)
Why should it have one? They take up space and it's more versatile to have space in the cargo area, instead.
😂 too had they just increased the price by 12,000.00 what an absolute joke
Only important if people can actually buy it...
So stupid. 🤡
This is a much bigger vehicle than we needed. This is the wrong vehicle for city driving and parking.
PLEASE, stop using electrical lingo (volts, watts, on-board charging, etc) when talking about charging. Most of us have no idea what you are talking about. Just tell us how many minutes for how many miles.
Why so late?!😢
Most of the parts are from LG or co-developed with LG
Nope.... Battery technology co-developed with LG, the rest of the car is all GM
Most? Most of the parts of a car are the body, interior, suspension, glass, and other things LG had nothing to do with.
Battery cells are going to be the next chip shortages for GM/Ford big battery plants.
GM owns their battery plants.
@@theflew Yes. but they have no control on how many batteries they'll get from LG. Tesla had this problem 7 years ago owning the plant with Panasonic. They were battery constrained because Panasonic couldn't give them enough batteries.
@@josephhobbs4754 That's not true. Ultium LLC is a 50/50 joint venture between LG Energy Solutions and GM. Panasonic and Tesla were not a joint venture. Panasonic leased space inside of a Tesla building (Nevada). Panasonic had contractual obligations to produce cells for Tesla. Ultium LLC is a company that only produces cells for GM.
@@theflew We'll just have to wait and see in three years if LG can deliver enough battery packs (that don't catch on fire) to meet GM's demand. I don't think they will be able to because of raw material shortages.
@@josephhobbs4754 Good thing LG Energy Solutions is part of LG Corp which also owns LG Chem. Guess what LG Chem does - raw to finished materials for Anode and Cathode. There's a reason GM chose LG to partner with.
GM needs to start working on vehicles with frunks. They are shrinking the trunk space and leaving out, arguably the best part of an EV... the extra cargo space available in a frunk!
If you're willing to pay 10k more msrp, then sure. That cost a lot of r&d especially with the features they're giving you and the range at that price.
If you want more space just wait till they have a traverse or tahoe ev. Frunks are complicated based on the design of the battery and drive unit.
쉐보레짱~ 내다음차는 너다~!!
Why would someone pick this over Lyriq which has same price level. Cadillac quality is better than chevrolet.
SERIOUSLY! What is with EV makers and glass roofs? Do they want me to go buy a Model S? I really don't want a Tesla. Don't make me buy a Tesla!
Looks great, spec, price is geared towards the mass market. Chevy should have lead-off with this. Not the Tonga Toy Hummer.
Hummer is a GMC product, not Chevy.
@@theflew that’s the same as Honda to an Acura, or a Lexus to a Toyota…….Infiniti and Nissan….Dodge, Chrysler….Hyundai, Kia….Audi and VW, Even a Ferrari to an Alfa!
@@phillm156 Agreed GMC is Chevy's up market brand. GM started with the Hummer because they knew they wouldn't have a lot of battery cells available initially because their Ohio plant is ramping up, so starting with the lower volume Hummer made a lot of sense. It allowed them to prove out the Ultium system in trucks which is going to be used for the Silverado and Sierra EVs.
The same holds true for the Cadillac Lyriq on the SUV/CUV side. Get the lower volume Lyriq out the door to test systems prior to them being in the higher volume Blazer and Equinox EVs.
너무 이쁜데
This kinda makes the Tesla Model Y look bland.
