I am typically not a GM fan, but I really give Chevy credit for a nice looking small SUV at this price point. Great review.

I bought a Mazda3 for a similar price. Although mine is a sedan it has a 191hp non-turbo and the ride is better than any SUV I have ever ridden in, including a Volvo, Land Rover, and Lexus. The Mazda is also dead silent while driving. I have no objection to GM’s 3 cylinder, I’ve owned many cars that have had far less HP, including an Audi diesel with 56hp.

It's ridiculous that Andre had to check an option package to get cruise on a 41K Colorado, but it's standard on a 21K vehicle. Talk about auto manufacturers nickel and dime buyers.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum Год назад +1

The package is a few hundred dollars and includes some other small features such as a locking tailgate. Nothing too earth-shattering. I agree that for $41k it should have cruise control included. The package on the new Colorado/Canyon is very odd. The fancy digital gauge cluster and touch screen are standard, but something as basic as cruise control is optional. Weird. Keep in mind, at $41k he basically bought a work truck model with the unpainted facia and vinyl upholstery. Other than fancier wheels and the extra cost paint color, I don't know what drove the price up to $41k.

    • @AHungryHunky

I imagine the lack of Cruise is to keep costs down for fleet purchases, but yeah it's weird it's not standard on trims higher than Base. Even the first year Maverick had cruise on the XLT and higher, and only omitted it on the XL trim

HA! As if GM had the foresight to make good decisions when it comes to performance options. No SS Silverado to compete against the Raptor, no ATSV Turbo 6 in the Canyon to make and dominate a new segment, fast midsizes, no near 800hp camaro to compete against the hellcat, demon, and gt500, instead they just cancel it. If it has the possibility of being fast and fun GM will avoid it like the plague. What is the point of having a great engine blueprint if you aren't going to go crazy with it like dodge. The new 2.7 4 cylinder is an LS cut in half, that opens up a world of opportunity that won't be realised.

We’re talking about the Trax, and here you are whining & complaining because GM continues to pay the Ford Raptor & Ram TRX segment complete and utter dust. Lol. GM apparently had the foresight to create the first mass produced American exotic supercar and managed to keep it attainable. Where are the attainable mid-engine exotic sports cars from Ford and Stellantis to directly compete against the Corvette C8?
Where are the Bronco EV and Durango EVs to compete against the Hummer SUV. Why hasn’t Ford or Stellantis bothered to offer a hand built V8 motor to their Lincoln and Jeep customers whom they expect to turn their noses up at comparable Cadillac products?
The reality is GM has clearly and successfully separated themselves from the rest of American automakers, including Tesla. Both GM’s ICE and EV products are superior. They’re beginning to compete with themselves.

I've not liked Chevy in a long time, but they seem to be upping their game lately. The Trailblazer, Colorado, and now this new Trax are all compelling products. I'm not financially ready to pull the trigger on a new vehicle, but this Trax is definitely on my list, along with the related Buick Envista. The Trax looks good, seems nicely packaged, and the pricing is incredibly good. 5 trims in total to choose from ranging from $20k-$25k. The lack of AWD is fine by me. I live in Florida, so I'd prefer FWD for its mechanical simplicity and lower price. The 3cyl turbo seems a little low on horsepower, but the torque number is healthy for this class of vehicle. The seat-of-the-pants feeling is what matters to me, not so much the numbers on paper. My biggest concern is reliability and overall quality. A cheapest-in-class vehicle wearing a Chevy badge? Hmm.

A basic, decent aluminum rim is not that expensive. They should just put them on the base model and add $600 to the price. The appearance over the hubcaps would be so much nicer. That pricing is mind boggling in an age of inflation and ultra high MSRPs. It's a breath of fresh air and the car itself isn't a major penalty box to boot. The styling is very Blazer-esque but that's a good thing because I've always enjoyed the sharp styling of it which in itself is inspired by the Camaro. The interiors are very impressive and seem roomy given the dimensions since it looks small from the outside. I can't wait to see one in person. I keep driving through my Chevy dealership to try to catch but have had no luck yet. Love these! Love that GM took the gamble on putting the smaller 1.2L Turbo 3 engine in. Plus a tried and true 6 speed automatic and 9 seconds 0-60 is plenty fast for a subcompact CUV/SUV. Love the styling inside and out, wow and the price on these is soooo competitive! The top trim ACTIVE or 2RS comes in at $24,995.00 for total MSRP and that includes destination charge! Even if you load the top trim ACTIVE or 2RS up with all the options which are 2 packages the Driver Confidence Package at $650.00 (includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package at $895.00 (standard size sunroof and wireless charging) the total MSRP still is only $26,540.00!!! Thats impressive. Now some colors cost an additional $395.00 such as the Cayenne Orange, Nitro Yellow and Fountain Blue which I would go with the Nitro Yellow as it looks amazing. The unique looking Cacti Green color does not show an additional cost. So again a top trim with every option and even a color that cost the extra $395.00 you would still only be at $26,935.00
The bargain trim and sweet spot for most I bet will be the 1RS at $23,195.00 including destination and comes with remote start, wireless apple car play, 8 inch touchscreen, led head lights, heated seats, 18 inch alloys and more. Thats a deal. You can add the Driver Confidence Package to that trim for $250.00 (includes rear cross traffic alert and lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package for $795.00 but on this trim does not include wireless charging and is just the Sunroof. So with all options added to the 1RS trim it would come to $24,240.00 or if you pick an additional cost color at $395.00 it would be $24,635.00 and that includes the destination charge.
Another popular trim will be the LT at $23,395.00 and you get additional features over the 1RS such as push button start, 11 inch touchscreen and 8 inch digital gauge cluster, less sporty 17 inch alloy wheels, single zone digital climate control vs manual dials and more. If you add every option to the LT such as the LT Convenience Package at $595.00 (includes keyless open doors/handles, heated outside mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel), Driver Confidence Package at $650.00 (includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package at $895.00 (includes standard sized sunroof and wireless charging) the cost comes to $25,535.00 and if you pic an additional cost color at $395.00 it then comes to $25,930.00 including destination. In my opinion if you do this with the LT and get every option you may as well just get the top trim ACTIVE OR 2RS with all options as it is only around $1,000.00 more but comes with alot more and looks better.
I think this will sell like crazy and is a great looking vehicle with tons or room and features. Good job GM!

@@letsgetmg788 I always say "AWD is a great lie"
It gives you confidence to do dumb things like travel faster than road conditions should permit, or use "all" (3) Season tires in snow. All AWD does is help get traction in the event one or two wheels can't find it, and help accelerate/build momentum. It may help with some stability in turns on slippery surfaces, but ultimately your tires matter much more and vehicles have used all 4 wheels to stop for the better part of the last 40 years so it's not like AWD helps you stop in an emergency situation. Stopping and traction are more important than moving forward, period.
You see this every winter here when the roadside is littered with people who trusted their AWD/4x4 a little to much on the first real snow.
Edit: And I'd like to say, I'm speaking from experience and a lesson well learned. 98 Blazer, lost control mid bend at about 30mph with 4x4 engaged and the best I could do was guide it to do the least damage possible.
