His All Black career ended in 2000 at the age of 24 for some reason. He was way better than Leon McDonald and Mils Muliaena at fullback. He had so much more to give. What a pleasure watching Andre 'Rolls Royce' Joubert and Cullen play in the same era. Arguably the two best fullbacks ever.

Right there with Jonah and Rupeni as top 3 athletes ever to not only come out of nz but probably southern hempisphere. Guy was a freak, never been another playa yet with the balance, speed, footwork and strength of Cullen. Camera doesnt do him justice, he was just unreal and so effortless. Wish they had shown that 95 hong kong sevens try against fiji where he stepped a couple in his own in goal and ran thru team for 90 meter try lol.

Think Matt Tait could have been our / English CC if he had been managed properly. But yes, CC what a player. All pace and poise. It must have been like tackling a greyhound !

The trip on him as he scores the first try. Typical dirty tactics from the Springboks 🤣

I've always disliked the Sprinboks dirty attitude to rugby, there's just something in there DNA, that they would deliberately try and hurt a player, even if they were winning 100 nil, they would still try and injure a player, because they can... Thugs in a Rugby strip...

I'm from Munster (cork). I remember going to Musgrave park for Cullen's debut. However he never performed for Munster. Even though he was still only 28 or 29 he seems well over the hill by then

All big names. I wish I started watching rugby sooner so I could've seen them in action first hand.

Cullen is the best fullback of all time. The fact that he made these plays against the best opposition makes it all the more convincing.

Blanco was the best fullback until Cullen came along and OMG what a player made the game look so easy. Cullen always seemed to be jogging but no one could get near him.
