    I think it's most plausible that he wasn't completely devoted to the bleeding process due to his internal conflicts, so the crystal pushed back. The way his saber spat and flared was in my mind not just a reflection of his rage, but more a look at his erratic and confused mindset. He was so internally chaotic that he couldn't even focus totally on his anger and hate.

      @@Voltar Agreed. that and the Clone Wars film and series that George Lucas has worked on.
      Not to mention that even IF Lucas hasn’t sold his company to Disney and brought forth his own vision of his Sequel Trilogy, his trilogy would’ve both confound and incompatible to previous EU lore surrounding that time.
      If you don’t believe me, look at Clone Wars micro series vs The Clone Wars series. Both shows have some conflicting parts to each other. Grievous being a Jedi slaying badass one scene only to fail miserably in another is a key point in how different the characters are portrayed. Even Asajj Ventress’ fate is different than the comics that were released beforehand.
      If what we’ve heard about his version of the Sequel Trilogy, it would either focus on
      1). Midichlorians (which at the time is still one sore point that fans aren’t fond of),
      2). Teenagers being the main cast
      3). Leia being the Chosen One as Chancellor of the New Republic during the trilogy where Darth Maul and Darth Talon (of Legacy era fame) would be the main antagonists.
      Either way, there were rumors and talks about the EU being decanonized before the acquisition by Disney was even a thing. Regardless if it was Lucas or Kennedy, the EU wasn’t gonna be the main canon in the long term.

      i hope the sequals will be rewritten with the WBWs but i can only dream. the story just doesnt make any sense in the sequals and theres literally just like no consequences. like look at revenge of the sith- no matter how many times i watch it, i hope for anakin to choose the light and not fall, yet it happens every time, creating the most consequential series of events in the star wars universe. the sequals dont bring these feelings. when i watch the sequals, i really just hope that itll be over soon.

    • @xenoluck

      @@Voltar so is the sequal non canon? it contradicts A LOT. Disney has already confirmed that the clone wars is canon, and if it wasnt why would they keep investing in it? season 7? the bad batch? that makes no sense. a simple dialogue line in a movie doesnt mean that something is not canon, when the owners say it is. and also anakin and obi wan dont really face dooku that many times together, and when they do, its brief and ends with dooku running away to fullfill palpatines greater plan. revenge of the sith is the first time after attack of the clones that anakin and obi wan truly face dooku with the intent of battle to the death. anakin was untouchable in the clone wars by dooku, due to orders from palpatine. dooku was only ever there to toy with the both of them. and also, the other jedi throughout the galaxy during the ot timeline does not take away from luke being the only hope. it is shown in revenge of the sith that not all jedi died during order 66. there could still be many jedi remaining during the ot timeline. that does not take away from lukes role as none of these other jedi truly try to takedown the empire, yet, thats still not the point. and anyways, luke was not the only hope, as "there is another", a line straight from ben kenobi. the reason he was the NEW HOPE, is because he is the son of vader, the son of the chosen one. 1 of only 2 people left in the galaxy that could redeem vader. not even padme could redeem anakin, and she was the love of his life. what you say makes no sense. fact is fact.

    Since the comics showed that it was his own lightsaber crystal that he bleed, my theory about the unstable blade is since the crystal was his own to begin with corrupting it was considered a betrayal of the crystals trust (being there somewhat sentient in there connection to the force) which is why Vader used another’s lightsaber crystal because it’s easier to pour your dark thoughts into an unfamiliar place (i.e. another persons lightsaber crystal)

    Being a fan of Legends lightsaber lore, I always wanted to believe his crystal cracked because he wasn't fully immersed in the Dark side, he was constantly fighting his good nature and it's pull to the Light side. Not all cracked crystals will emit an unstable blade.... the crossguard emitters dissipate the extra energy discharged by the crack but i think the blade instability, and stability for that matter, is reflective of the users connection to the Force. Kylo was trying to turn dark while fighting the pull to light, his internal conflict is displayed by his unstable blade. Now look, and more importantly listen, to Sidious' or Yoda's blades... Each fully immersed in their respective sides; no conflict resides in either. Their blades have a clean, pure, continuous tone and no fluctuations in color intensity (pulsing or flickering). Vader's saber blade is not as pure... there is a slight pulse in the blade intensity and a very slight change in sound that I always felt was reflective of the tiny amount of "good' that still resided in him.

      Honestly they could have kept both versions. In Legends yes red lightsabers came from the darkside forging process but there were also natural red crystals as well. Canon could have easily changed it so that while forging is one process to create a red blade, bleeding is another method to go about it. Although in legends the synth red lightsabers were less stable and offered improved cutting power for more difficult handling. Red adegan crystals didn't have said setback. This is something else they could have kept as a reason why its more beneficial to bleed a crystal then create one with the ritual.

Although I do think this new information is interesting too and I especially like some of the things Theory was saying in the video, like it being because he wasn't fully committed to the dark side. Also, his idea of being able to see some little blue flaring bits coming off of it for that reason would have been really cool!

  • @AbsurdFalcon
    @AbsurdFalcon 3 года назад +2

    Honestly, I think it would have been better if they made Kylo Ren a full dark sider from the beginning rather than writing in constant conflict within him and a pull to the light. The thing about the dark side is that it corrupts and twists a person and their morals with the power it grants. There is no compromise with it and once you fall to the dark side it becomes increasingly difficult to return to the light so much so that the Jedi thought it almost impossible for a light sider who willingly falls to it to return back to the light, an element that still canon. The light side doesn't really pull people towards it, but the dark side does and it feeds off of the person. A good example is how Anakin even though he fell to the dark side to save Padme still ended up choking her when he felt betrayed or in the Revenge of the Sith novelization where he convinced himself that killing the younglings was doing them a mercy kill and saving them from the fate of being slaves to the jedi. It's still possible to come back to the light but usually its not as simple as it was for kylo.

    • @TY-km8hj
      @TY-km8hj 3 года назад

      I have to agree somewhat. I don't necessarily dislike what they did with kylo since he didn't really "fall" and he never severed all the ties that kept him to the light and when he did try (han) he felt even more fractured, which isn't impossible since uliq qel droma was only brought back in legends after he killed his own brother. But I do agree that we should've seen a gradual change in him and slowly embrace the dark side in each film. But then again it's dismey an they're pretty shit so oh well

    I think he was highly conflicted. I think if the light side still has a strong pull on you as you're trying to bleed your crystal, your crystal either breaks or doesn't bleed at all. I think the conflicted who are also incredibly strong in the force end up breaking their crystals. I think bleeding your crystal takes a full commitment to the dark. Vader's didn't break NOT because he wasn't as angry/rageful as Kylo, Vader's didn't break because he was exponentially more angry/rageful than Kylo. Think about what Vader had been through and done before bleeding his crystal. He had way more loss, pain, and blood on his hands. Kylo hadn't gone through nor done half the horrid things that Vader did. Vader was fully in the dark. I believe he was a sith lord by the time he bled his crystal. Kylo was merely a conflicted dark side user, but a powerful one at that.

Kylo has a good and evil conflict when bleeding the crystal. Kal Kestis feels alone and defeated when he obtains his new crystal on Ilum. The user is broken. Therefore, the crystal is broken. However, the user and the crystal can be redeemed. In both cases, redemption of the crystals is gained through lightsaber modification and redemption of the user is inspired by a friend (BD-1) or father (Han Solo).

    The concept of Kylo Ren’s light sabre is actually cool. Probably the only cool thing about the DT. However, my only issue is the emitters on each side. They stick out so much that they look like they easily are sliced off during a battle and render the crossguard useless since it's more likely the emitter that will come into contact first. It always bothers me when I look at Kyla Ren’s light sabre.

Notice how he constantly has fits of rage which cause him to uncontrollably berserk even if it caused him to damage the room he was in or allies. Not because they failed him but because they crossed his path during one of his berserks.

    I like three theories.
    1 - The crystal cracked because he wasn't fully devoted to the dark side. He wanted to be, he tried so hard to be. But no matter how hard he fought, there was still good in him. And this pull to two different sides cracked the crystal. But ultimately bled it red. Foreshadowing the dark side being his downfall.
    2 - He was so powerful in the force that when he fed the dark side into the crystal it cracked under his immense power.
    3 - He gripped it to hard. That's it. He cracked the crystal by holding too tightly XD I myself don't know how tough kyber crystals are so I'd like to think this true just cause its kinda funny.

    I would like to believe it was because he wasn’t fully committed as well. His constant pull to the light is what caused it ,he was using the dark side but not like Vader or others before him had done. I think to truly immerse yourself in the dark side from my understanding anyway one would need to be without conflict. As killing his father made him unstable weaker even. Like you know how in real life we can get upset but there’s sometimes that one thing that just makes you smile or happy you’re still mad but you feel that bit of joy within yourself. I think that’s what Kylo/Ben experienced but constantly. But there are people who don’t have that or have a better pull/ connection to their anger to where there isn’t such conflict. I’d also say it’s fair to say I think feel free to correct me, that both Jedi and Sith can become light or fall to the dark. But I guess it all depends on the individual and as well as be situational like Cere from fallen order. After being tortured and watching her fellow Jedi die that experience pushed her and changed her, all that fear anger and sadness made her alignment in the force change. THATS one of the many reasons I love Star Wars especially how the force works, and when it comes to the dark and light sides of the force it’s not just this black and white thing, your stance in the force is based on who you are and who you want to become and what you yourself want to do. Some people are ambitious and want more, which can lead down the path of darkness others out going virtuous always willing to help others. Kylo Ren the way they wrote him sadly just didn’t have that push to fully commit which is a shame because… Can you imagine if Kylo in the rise of Skywalker FINALLY committed fully found that pull to the dark he had been looking for and snuffed out his inner light. Got a hold of Luke’s lightsaber and bled the Crystal fully without breaking it and had a crimson blade with no flickering. That would of been cool to see, such wasted potential.

    I think it cracked bc he already had a connection to that crystal ,so he did more than make it bleed bc of the crystals connection to him. These crystals are alive after all so I imagine he didnt just make the crystal bleed, he actually wounded it. Someone as strong in the force as a Skywalker ,turning on a crystal that he must have had a strong personal connection to. I can't think of anyone else ,that naturally strong , that turned dark bleeding the crystal that actually called to them as younglings.

    Honestly I do think it’s becose Kylo’s rage, after all he was still more unstable and full of anger all the time, unlike Vader, Maul, Palpatine or Tyranus. Also he must have felt that much anger and hatred to his family in the moment he did the bleeding proces. Yes Vader also felt pain, anger and hatered all the time but after a while he was able to control it unlike Kylo Ren who at least in TFA and TLJ is controled by his emotions too much, Maul had even more rage but after he was defeated on Naboo not when he was creating his saber (if he made a new crystal bleed then maybe it would happened but now we even don’t know how he got Ventress’es lightsaber in the first place so we don’t know if it had already red blade or how he did it) and I mean Sidious and Dooku are obvious, they were not controled by emotions and and were like old wise and experienced masters. But that is just my opinion.

    Its because Kylo Ren is unstable so bleeding his crystal caused it to crack. Also Sidious, Vader, and Maul all had anger, but they didn't lose control very often so I would say their rage didn't come out very often.
    Kylo Ren is so unstable and full of rage all the time. Also for Sidious and Vader the source behind their rage was gone, but by the time of the Force Awakens both Luke Skywalker and his Dad are still alive and they are the source of his anger.

    I think I read on Battlefront 2 that Kylo did this because he used an old technique to over charge the lightsaber, making it burn even hotter than regular lightsabers, but it's more unstable. The technique requires a damaged crystal, so it would have been on purpose. At least that's what I read somewhere.
    I think Rage and Hate can be two different things. Anakin had a lot of rage before he became Vader. Vader is more tempered hate, self hate. Same with Maul, who had a lot of hate for the everything. Both of them focused it.
    Kylo, however, was consistently unstable, his anger sharply rising, overflowing and violent; rage. And I think Kylo certainly was the most rageful of all movie Sith. Where he became overwhelmingly powerful was Rise of Skywalker, where he is noticeably more concentrated and focused.

    • @maximusaralieous1728
      @maximusaralieous1728 3 года назад

      @@newhybrid101 I'm not sure one can have 'controlled' rage, the definition of rage is uncontrolled anger, a fit. Rage is a result of anger, but anger is not necessarily rage. Rage makes you dangerous because you can commit extreme violence suddenly and unpredictably. Palpatine has only shown it, in the movies at least, maybe twice. Likely when Mace Windu confronted him and definitely when Luke failed to kill Vader, which led to his almost absolute demise.
      That's my point about Kylo, he often expresses raw rage in the first two movies, not controlled hate or anger, more so than any other dark side user on film. So his kieber crystal cracking and the unstable nature of his saber is an embodiment of that. The Rise of Skywalker is when we see a more controlled Kylo, he does not fly into fits of rage like he did before. He is more calculating and tempered and then yes, that makes him much more formidable and powerful.

Palpatine would have control of his rage and I think Kyle has a higher potential in the force then palatine. I could be wrong but we never saw luke or anakin try to bleed a crystal I think it would crack for them as well unless they had enough knowledge of the dark side.

    Personally i believe that the reason it cracked was due to the fact he wasn't fully evil he didn't or maybe even couldn't fully embrace himself in the dark side. Therefore when he was trying to bleed the crystal it was too forced, he deep down was not letting it come out of him naturally, instead, he was telling himself "YEAH !!!DARK SIDE!!! I'M MAD AT LUKE GRRR!!!!!!" and that's why it cracked because he wasn't naturally able to connect with the dark side. Just a Declan Theory

  • @jedimindet
    @jedimindet 2 года назад

    I know I'm a wee but late, however my personal take is that his crystal wouldn't fully except the bleeding. We know that Vader was sent to defeat and kill a Jedi strictly to take that Jedi's crystal and proceed to bleed it. Kylo decided to use his own personal crystal that knew his good nature. That stress onto the crystal from it's same master gave complete and utter confusion. That's the reason I believe his crystal is so unstable. Kylo himself was tormented and unstable "until Rey saved him".

  • @sampalace358

    I think the reason his crystal cracked is the same reason Kylo cracked. He could not cut himself off from his family and the ways of the Jedi. When He was bleeding the crystal you see his parents luke all of his family. The crystal cracks because he is not ready to be a full sith, which snoke/palp notice and understand which is where all the under handed compliments and down talk come from whenever they meet. It wasn’t until Han’s death that he was no longer doubted. His rage literally comes from not knowing what to do or where to go. He does not trust snoke and he doesnt feel worthy to go back to luke and be forgiven for all he’s done.

    Here’s my thing. We understand in the Sequels the balance of light and dark is stronger. With Mace Windu, he never abused the crystal. It just knew he was more dark than other Jedi. But Kylo Ren was different. He had so much raw power (quoted by Luke that implied he could be stronger than Vader Palpatine or Snoke) but he had so many types of drawbacks to becoming evil. Leia and Han gave him up because they were scared of him. Luke tried to kill him. At least that’s what he thought. But he still loved them which hurt more. Like a constant feeling of a breakup. So Kylo Ren made it bleed. But I feel kept failing, that he was bleeding it because he wasn’t able to make it bleed fully. That he actually just damaged it. Like if you went to the doctor to draw blood, but they weren’t careful and cut a vein.
