    I got the epicenter plus with a fixed 15hz filter. It has no knobs on it just the remote know. I have my subwoofer output from the head unit to the main input (epicenter) and the output to crossover. It is powerful. I set the voltage to 7.5 volts maxed out and it is great. Waving galvanize and stuff.

    I was put on to Epicenter in the late 90’s. Always use it on my system and it makes the system sounds 3xs better if you know how to adjust your amp/head unit gains. Also You gotta buy stronger subwoofers with dvc’s. (Dbl voice coils), otherwise it will fry your subwoofers. Great video!

    I can't believe I went all these years (since early 90's) without knowing about a device like this. I've always wondered how some songs play a lower bass note on certain songs (mostly older recorded songs). Even on other systems the bass hit lower and just simply sound better, more powerful with the help of this device. So, after extensive research and watching this video numerous times and even watching other videos on the Epicenter, I finally bought and installed this device. I originally bought one a month ago but returned to Amazon, then repurchased another. My local stereo shop didn't recommend it on my memphis Mojo Dual 8in subs. The Memphis manufacturer did state that the box is tuned to 36 hrtz, so I had a idea where to adjust the dials along with the help of this video. So glad I own this device now. Will always use one from now on.

    MBE, exactly! Sometimes you take 10 mins to explain a 5 min topic... I'm the same way, btw. I'm aqqcuiring/using Jensen current series of amps (made by Dual, same company). The mono-channel amp does not have a bass knob but the amps do have an onboard DSP/etc. Instead of using one of my Kicker active crossover units (I can't find a bass knob, boxed away somewhere) I'm going to get the NVX 'bass restoration' unit. IT's much cheaper in price than the AudioControl unit (anyone of you can want the BEST in DSP/Signal Control external modules, buy AudioControl. I have been using AudioControl for @26 or so years. The old L2s and such but I've never owned (have installed for others) an Epicenter. They work, even with aftermarket head units... especially with HU's which have a line out voltage under 4v. If you spend the $ on sound deadening, signal cables (RCAs & wiring), and in proper DSP & signal components, you can spend much less $ on the amps. MBE is the 8" Kicker Q-L7 master builder/installer. Glad that they had him on an UnMasked episode a few months ago. If you want the best out of your system, forget 'traditional' methods of spending the most $ on amplifiers and buy the right subs, build the right box (or buy from MBE and have a strong box that will outlive you, which you can pass down to your offspring), spend the $ in signal cables & deadening road noise/rattles. Buying the most expensive amps at the highest rated power means also upgrading alternators and everything else. Do a Big 3 (actually a Big 4) wiring upgrade and do more economical but EFFECTIVE upgrades and you will literally 'Do More With Less'. Half of your budget should go to those 'intangibles' (the sub box is paramount). Ignore the chat feed... there are A LOT of BAD comments there in terms of advice. Listen to MBE.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад +3

      I'll try to explain it. When the music is played live in the recording studio you have low bass from the instrument. The low, original note is called the fundamental. There are harmonics of that fundamental buried in the signal. Lets say a 40Hz beat. There are faint traces of that at 80, 120, 160, 200, etc.
      When the engineer is mixing the tracks and producing the album they typically filter out the lower bass so they make the fundamental very weak or non existent. Those upper order, faint harmonics are still buried in the signal. The epicenter analyzes the full range signal and finds those faint harmonics and can recreate that original 40Hz fundamental tone. Then you can control and tweak the amount of the recreation to however you prefer.

    I missed the questions, but someone was asking about putting it after a dsp. I'm in this situation. I'm using fiber optic from headunit to dsp so I can't tap into the full range signal. You need to see if you can get a full range signal from the dsp. If you have a full range output, like maybe a rear output your not using, your fine. If you only have a sub output you want to see what the minimum filtering it's capable of. In my case I can cross it over at 220Hz with a 6dB/octave filter. This should be fine for the epicenter to use. If the best it can do is like 120Hz with a 12dB/octave, then it's going to be filtering too much and your not going to give the epicenter enough upper frequencies to work with.
    Assuming that all works out for you, then you have to use the crossover on the amp. It's usually not as good as the dsp crossover, but it should be good enough. Instead of pushing buttons from the drivers seat, you may have to crawl in back to physically adjust the knob a few times to get the crossover dialed in. Hope that helps someone. 👍

      I see this question asked a lot on my channel as someone who has two DSPs and an epicenter the The only thing important to get the best results out of the epicenter is to get a fullrange signal up to 1kHz into it anything above that is useless you van even ask a audiocontrol rep and they will also tell you that, the way its usually wired is: headunit, epicenter, DSP, Amp.
      However, If you have a stock radio and use an LC7i which has Accubass, then you would have it set as follow: stock Headunit to LC7i to Epicenter to DSP to Amp.
      If you dont have that option because you are using toslink then you would want to do the following: stock Head unit to DSP Running the subwoofer output channels with a fullrange signal of 20Hz to 1kHz to the Epicenter and then to the amp. If it sounds a little weak, you can boost the EQ on the DSP if it has that option to raise the strength of the frequencies that dont sound as strong due to not being able to use the DSP for the sub like a normal set up, you woulf be Using the EQ on the DSP like the Accubass. If it doesn't have an EQ or its limited then From there you can set your amp lowpass filter on and set your frequency range on the amp as you are using the DSP to get a fullrange signal. I had mine set up like that for a while in my flex. It Worked well and had a stronger sound to the bass. Just some friendly advice from a user, i also apologized for getting into this conversation and hope i am not stepping on anyone's feet. 🙇‍♂️🙏

      Depends on the port tuning, and if it matches up well. Back in the day people did not tune car audio enclosures very low, because there was very little content in the sub, 30Hz range! In fact most music recordings focused on 40Hz, and up, and mixed out the lower freq. That's why Audio Control set there Pfm from the factory @ 33Hz, it was about 5 to 10Hz below most ported enclosures tuning freq., back in the day. Today's day and age, we have huge, high roll, Mega surround's, with Huge motored, Mega X Max, subwoofer's, with enclosure's tuned in the 20Hz range, playing modded demo track's, that pump out infrasonic, freq., with hurricane force wind's! That's why Audio Control sell's changeable Pfm filter's now for 15Hz, 20Hz, 25Hz, and many more, for around $10 for each, specified freq., chip. The newest Micro Epicenter, come's from the factory, with the Pfm, set lower than the other unit's, @ 20Hz, and has a switch to turn it off, which then bypass, the Pfm, and allows down to 10Hz!

    So i bought one of these and had bad results because of my own ignorance. After learning more about the epicenter I've resolved my issues. Anyhow something that i think that should be said about the epicenter which I haven't heard anyone mention. The epicenter is not a line driver. The output jumpers limit the output voltage to where you have it set. For example. If you have the jumpers at 5 volts but your head unit only puts out 4 volts. You're only going to get 4 volts out the epicenter. If you have it set at 5 volts and your head unit puts out more than 5 volts your only going to get 5 volts. This is why Mb tells you that you can remove or ad an epicenter at any time without adjusting gains. If you put the jumper at 10+ to get the ten volts you're going to need a line driver ahead of the epicenter. I think this was very smart to do audio control. Can you imagine have gains set to a 2 volt signal the putting in an epicenter and it gets bumps up to 5 volts. Bad news

He got me an in dash epicenter and bro it made a night and day difference on rock music. It’s like hearing all my rock tunes for the first time but you gotta run the epicenter after the head unit it needs the full range of frequencies. You can tweak with the frequency and sweep knobs but I have them both turned down. Turn your gain on your sub amplifier all the way down, turn off any bass boost, loudness, etc. prior to installing the epicenter, you can adjust them after if necessary.

So if you want a very peaked boost= not rec. for music(used for Spl usually), you would set the wide control to the left= counter clockwise, if you want a broader= flatter Bass Boost,= smoother/blending, then you turn the wide all the way to the right= clockwise= this is NOT a volume Knob. And the sweep knob= the center freq. of the Bass Boosting= turned to the left= counter clockwise= 27Hz= not great for higher tuned enclosure's, or rock music, in the middle= approx. 45Hz= much better for rock music( if you have the other knob all the way right= set to wide= smooth blending/boosting). Then just use the Audio Control's Bass knob to add or reduce Bass Restoration to your preference! Sounds good to me. You can use the Rockford subsonic filter or bypass it and use just the epicenter filter. Basically what it means is the Epicenter 25Hz filter frequency response will start to drop just before 25Hz and be 3dB down at 25Hz. They use a pretty steep filter.
      So you'll be tuned to 33Hz (the cone will be moving a small amount) and output is high. As you go down in frequency, around 25Hz, the cone excursion will start to increase a lot. At 20Hz it would normally move so much you could get overexcursion or damage the sub. The subsonic/infrasonic filter should limit that excursion and protect your woofer.
      So it sounds fine. Clicking on the Rockford filter might reduce excursion even more. So you sound good to go. 👍

    What about messing with the insides of it?
    I've seen people opening them and saying that can get you more bass

      You can order custom Pfm chip's= subsonic filter's from Audio Control, for about $10 per specified freq. Most Epicenter's come from Audio Control with a 33Hz Pfm= they start cutting bass output off @ 33Hz! The indash Epicenter unit is the only fixed Pfm @ 33Hz= cannot be changed, or bypassed! The Micro Epicenter with the Pfm switch set to on= 20Hz, and with the switch set to off= 10Hz! Plus the Micro Epicenter is the only unit that comes with the Dual volume Bass Knob= inner Knob controls total Bass volume, and the outer Knob controls how much, or little of Bass Restoration you want to add= AWESOME!

      The typical starting point is both knobs straight up, in the middle. From there you can tweak a little and see the effect it has.

    If I have an audio control amp with accubass do I need an epicenter?

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Год назад +3

      No. It's always a matter of do you WANT an epicenter. The accu bass should allow the bass to get loud as the volume is turned up. So it fixes the factory bass volume limit.
      Now if you want to restore those very low frequencies that were removed from recordings, thats up to you. Epicenter and accu bass are two very different things.

      It restores the low bass in your music. If you've ever listened to "rebassed" music, this thing does that for you.

    • @marcuslinton310

      @@fd1596 Absolutely not, comparing it to rebassed music is absolutely incorrect. Rebassed music is a process of removing all the bass frequencies, tinkering with them in all kinds of different ways and then putting them back in. I would suggest looking it up if you want a full explanation.
      The epicenter basically takes a higher frequency from the incoming content, drops it 1 octave and adds it to the content and sends it out. It's not modifying all the existing bass frequencies, doesn't change them at all. It is simply trying to recreate what it calculates to be missing.

      @Marcus Linton You're not explaining anything to me, that I don't know already. I was putting it in layman's terms so someone else can understand what it sounds like. I know I've been using the Epicenter since the late 90's so gtfoh with that bs.

      @@fd1596 Not my fault you explained it wrong. I understood your intent, but rebassed simply isn't accurate sound wise.
