- Steve Downes says his most iconic and badass line as Master Chief from Halo... "I Need A Weapon"
from "Q&A with Steve Downes (Master Chief) and Jen Taylor (Cortana) from Halo at GalaxyCon 2022" Steve Downes and Jen Taylor answer questions about their iconic roles as Master Chief and Cortana in the Halo franchise at GalaxyCon 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina
I love that he chuckles before delivering the line flawlessly
Can you imagine Chief doing that the covenant would shit themselves
the way it sounds like master chief still is so strange, you never hear him laugh
it came straight outta Halo 2 dudes voice is timeless
hes the true chief in spirit man
Chief is clinically insane
"To give the Covenant back their bomb" will always be my fav
Good tie for first. Both make the Chief’s personality clear without some awful monologue.
Also my favorite!
As a kid I fucking lost my shit at that line, forever instilled the idea of Chief being the utmost bad ass in the world to me, a character that's shows the truest testament to humanity
Cortana: "What if you miss?"
Chief: "I won't"
Chills every time.
agreed. you know chief isn't f*cking around when lord hood looks up at the screen with a glare.
"permission granted."
I love Hood's response. It's basically understandable have a nice day.
"Wake me, when you need me" Gives me chills even after all these years.
As someone who didn’t grow up playing halo and only did all three of the first campaigns after I was already an adult, that was one of the lines that really stuck with me. Easily one of the best video game characters ever written.
That was like hope in a dark time.
I can’t like it has 343!
In what halo did he say this?
@@laxy8025 at the end of 3 in the credits.
bro i didn't even recognize this guy but as SOON as i heard "I need a weapon" sent me back YEARS. He still nailed it.
Bro I had a chill but I was the same way. Had no clue who he was but as soon as he spoke. It took me right back to the first time I played it.
He nailed it because it’s his natural voice! Bungie staff originally found him hosting a radio show, he hadn’t played a single game before voicing Chief.
Believe it not, but he actually forgot that he voice Master Chief😂
Sometimes I forget that these characters have voice actors they just fit so well
GTA 5 is a great example of that
@@Teh_Random_Canadian🤡🤡🤡 the voice actors were the real actors
@@JacobMitchell-ft6sv i know. Which is why i said it genius. Jesus your elevator doesn't go all the way to the top does it?

That one is the one i was trying to remember. Halo 2 will always be my favorite halo. I literally see that scene play out all the time.
He flies pretty good, for a brick.
That is the hardest shit I've ever heard.
He is lucky after all 😂.
@@sxrvsvct7911 Halo 2 is 🔥

@eveningcommenter6312”to give the covenant back their bomb”*
Voice actors doing what made them famous is always one of my favorite parts of a meet and greet
It’s so insane when they’re like this dude too who don’t look even SLIGHTLY like their character sounds during some, if not all dialogue. Like where the guy who plays Teal’c on Stargate (Christopher Judge) sounds pretty much exactly how he looks as far as voicing Kratos. But this dude, ha! I’d never guess in a million years that it was him. Same as a fuckin ton of other voice actors….. they’re just so good and somehow can sound like someone they sure as shit don’t look like.
@@StonedOdieChristopher Judge is the god of dramatic and bassy line deliveries, to the point where I thought he would look exactly like modern Kratos IRL. He does build-wise but is iconically clean-shaven so I want to see a God of War 3 cosplay
It's everyone's favorite for good reason
This was just a weird ass comment to make. Like what made you want to say that shit? You high?
well what else are they gonna do? lol
"Give the covenant back their bomb." Always held a special place in my heart.
"Somebody PLEASE get this man....a *WEAPON* !"
And that guy right there IS the Master Chief, no one else could hope to compare
This is on 117 likes so I can’t like it
@@Lasershark666 like it now so it could be at 343

@@Seraph314
And apparently, 343i tried to EX Steve Downes, Jen Taylor, and Jeff Steitzer, among all the other former Bungie members. That company doesn't want Halo to be good.

"HALOOOO 2 BABBYYYYYY"
I could hear the music
"sir, finishing this Big Mac"

Absolute tragedy that there was supposed to be an entire extra section of the game but bungie had to cut it
He went from cool old guy to The Chief in about 2.5 second.

He's always the Master Cheif. 😎
Master Chief 117 I love Halo such a good franchise
@@joebrown72 lmao isnt chief like 50?
Him saying that hit me with years of nostalgia. It’s sad halo will never live up to those days anymore.
Shitty game devs. Killed COD killed Killzone killed battlefield and Halo was getting killed as soon as I got passed Reach. I can’t think of any Halo I enjoyed up until after reach. I actually liked reach bc it had a decent story and the multiplayer is what carried it.
@@AaronJames-ez8mb Reach was the last good Halo game, unfortunately. Since then, they've been more obsessed with trying to cater to a new audience to bring in more players (more money) than trying to keep the audience that got them to their peak over two fkng decades. Between the crappy games, like Infinite, and that atrocious excuse for a live action show...virtually anyone who has been a fan from the beginning now hates the whole franchise.
@@ryanm7832 seems like everyone nowadays things cancel culture is wassup. Or that becoming what everyone hates is the new dig. Hate it so much and to think this is the same company that racked up 3 billion in almost 5 years in the early 2000’s.
I actually liked halo 4. The story was good and the multiplayer was pretty fun. Everything after that was not.
@@Bneumanns124 okay maybe I was wrong bc look. Halo 4 was decent enough too so yes I fucked with halo 4 a decent amount of

10/10!
Bug favorite is when Cortana asks “What if you miss?”
“I won’t.”
1000000x yes. Responding to that question with “I won’t” then sending yourself to space and blowing up an entire ship is definitely the most badass thing in gaming history
"What's the plan, Chief?"
"Thought I'd try shooting my way out. Mix thing up a bit."
Shit gave me chills.
My favorite chief moment happened in destiny 1. Your ghost reads off his spartan number and says he went to him first before he found you. And he said he wanted to be out back into a sleep state. That he’s seen enough war to last a thousand lifetimes.
Halo 2 will go down in history as having one of the most kick-butt sci-fi action moments ever. Halo 3 was Bungie's magnum opus in terms of gameplay mechanics and variety, but Halo 2 nailed it with making Chief just seem unquestionably ace.
"You have a plan?"
"Thought I'd try shooting my way out, mix things up a bit."
Where's that line from
@@oldomen3788 Halo 3, "Cortana"
fun fact: that is such an iconic line that the MCC has that as its subtitles 'preview' :)
@@kendog0013 I might be an idiot. What does that mean?
@@oldomen3788 most games, if not all nowadays have an option to turn on subtitles - AKA, the text at the bottom of the screen denoting WHO is speaking and what they are saying - in the master chief collection, if you go to enable these, it shows a 'preview' of what those subtitles will look like; the line OP stated is the example text they use to show you what they would look like in the live game :)
"...right this way."
-sgt. johnson
whoever at bungie wrote the dialogue for halo 2 at the time was smoking the best high quality pack. my favorite line from halo 2 was when lord hood asks chief why he leaves cairo station and chief says, "to give the covenant back their bomb."
Had it not been for the ending halo 2 would have gone down as the undisputed greatest game of all time.
Honestly all they had to do was let us use the gravity hammer for a bit at the end. Keep the ending the same if you want, but let us play with the newest toy. At least for a bit.

@@Crackdoza_lol amen, that smoke pack was mind-blowing than kat getting shot by a needle rifle.
His voice sent chills down my spine.
Every time he talks in that voice, I get goosebumps. Doesnt even matter what hes saying. It could be "Can you pass the corn" and as long as he says it in that voice... it sounds so badass.
The best part about the games is how little Chief talks but every single time that man opens his mouth it’s just pure gold, absolute top tier one-liners. Never fucking misses.
THis is kinda why I feel like Halo 4 and beyond didnt work as well
The Chief just spoke too much
@@dinoblacklane1640 i personally enjoyed 4, I think the main reason they gave him more dialogue was bc of the whole “am I man or machine?” plot and like the entire first three games he basically was in non-stop combat. It was all very situational tbh
@@dinoblacklane1640 The big difference in 4 is, for the first time, he was speling during gameplay, not just during a few cutscenes here and there.
