To people who do not understand why he did this.
The reason for the declaration of martial law is that his approval rating has dropped to 20%, and he has failed to gain the trust or popularity of the people. Most importantly, there is growing dissatisfaction with the opposition party and even many within his own party who no longer support him, making it impossible for him to carry out anything he tries to do. That's why he resorted to an absurd martial law declaration.
It’s a reason that defies understanding, no matter who looks at it, which is why many Korean citizens and politicians are deeply fearful.
They think he might even be mentally unstable, raising concerns about what he might do in the coming days.
For this reason, there’s already an effort to impeach him as soon as tomorrow.
There is no connection to North Korea; it’s just that he needed to come up with a reason to justify declaring martial law, so he fabricated this excuse.
The president did not comply with the laws required to declare martial law, and today it was revealed that he had issued orders to detain politicians from the opposition party.
The imposition of martial law itself was carried out illegally.
It is believed that the president timed the declaration late at night so that citizens and the opposition would not have enough time to stop him.
Soldiers admitted that they did not even know why they were being deployed until they arrived, and upon realizing the nature of their actions, they felt it was wrong and did not actively block citizens or politicians.

But you didn't explain why his rating is so low,

Why did he want to detain the leader of his own party? Is he out of his mind?

The quickest way to drop his approval rating to 0 is declare martial law when things don't go his way.

Col Macgregor said that the CIA was involved. Yoon is a puppet of the CIA, and he was losing support and that's why the CIA wanted him to declare martial law. The CIA doesn't want South Korea to have friendly relations with North Korea. They want to overthrow the Kim regime.

Yoon, like any self serving politician, does not want to end up in jail. However, by the same token, he’s going to end up in one just as his predecessors have. And it always comes down to money. These politicians or those related to them simply cannot resist the sweet temptation of money and almost all of them end up in jail one way or another. The hypocrisy is that he was a prosecutor to these charges against his predecessors. One of them killed himself. Imagine Yoon facing same prospects. He would be ground up in the gauntlet of his own creation. The irony, the hypocrisy, embarrassment, shame upon the family, and the loss of face. He probably reasoned it’s worth trying to become a dictator than to spend a day in jail. The dude needs to be jailed for a long long time for this treasonous act.

Nah, he did it on his own because the parliament was after his wife and his former colleagues at the prosecutor's office. He hoped he could stop the parliament from gathering in the middle of the night. He failed, miserably, now he will face political execution aka impeachment.

It was extremely important in that it allowed us to conduct a social experiment to see what would happen if it was declared. Rather, you have to see actors who contributes to this movement from foreign countries...
