Mate your channel is played on our tv & is one of, if not the only things we watch together as a family, we love it, never underestimate how much you are appreciated dude 👍 just wanted to say Thanks for being you bud 🙏😎🤗
Mini Q7 is a very capable platform once you grind out the rough edges from the factory. The stock plastic CVD is an issue and should be replaced with metal ones for k989 which are slightly longer. With the low CG and suspension setup, it can run fast and stable. Its compatibility with mini-z autoscale bodies is also good but need to be aware it's wide both front and rear. Overall this is my favorite RC!
Ahhahahahaa, I can see one of You RC Tubers squeezing a 540 into this! I'm still recovering from seeing that Tamiya Lambo an the rest of Your awesome collection.
I have the WL Toys K989 and 969, same layout but less than half the price. Super reliable fun for home racing and loads of extras available. Couldn't think why you would spend so much more on this.
Once you buy the stuff that make the K series cars good and reliable, you're into them about the same money. The mini-q 7+ are adjustable to fit all the mini-z shells (with the correct size driveshaft, extra) If you want a cheap basher, Wltoys wins. If you want something that once it's fluffed and buffed, can hold it's own against any high-end drift or touring chassis, or can fit a wide variety of bodyshells or drivetrain configuration, with a high degree of adjustability in the suspension set-up- the Mini-Q offers more for your money. Definitely takes a good while to get the mini-q kits/parts imported though.
I was curious about the new version so here I am. It's unfortunate that they've changed so much stuffs. It used to come with good ball bearings or at least the same size on both sides of the diff so it won't chew the gears, metal CVD and a 2-in-1 unit that's compatible with Flysky radio. Still, this new EVO-X body is pretty cool.
Sick looking!.. but...I have the wltoys 1/28 k999. Has the same multi-board as that car. K999 is a much better bargain in my eyes at $50. Much more reliable out of the box and the diffs are enclosed. Just need to immediately get the upgraded metal drive axles. The plastic ones break within the first couple runs. Anyway.. I love it. Fun size
@@TomleyRC that sucks. You should definitely get one though. They are crazy fun and fast out of the box. Just remember to get the metal axles right away.
Takes me back to my MR-02 (and clones), FET stacking, hybrid Plazmatomic motors etc. Maybe I should dig some out and introduce them to 2.4GHz and LiPo..
not near the quality but had no gremlins, the TRQ-1 is their older clear blue chassis was ready to run for 43 bucks at BangGood, does 4WD drifting well without any diffs in it. body choice of a Subaru or a Toyota. nice light buckets if you want to fill them and make red lenses for the tail lights. no toe or camber adjustments, they set the rear toe in a little steep so it does drift pretty nicely. it wont handle 2S, takes 4 AAA's or get AAA size NiMh so it doesn't burn itself out.
Great review. Seems a pricey car, if you cannot use it out-of-the-box (I am not speaking of the painting). However, it is good to see competition out there (especially, since Mini-Z options seem limited).
I'm looking at getting my first rc I know I want a 1/28 scale but I'm having trouble deciding between the mini q and the mini z, I'm gonna upgrade either one I get because I like to tinker and I'm not undecided because of price I'm just new to the hobby
LOL no way ... i just spot them on BG and was kinda Faling in love with those with the transparent blue Chassis the Supra to be precisely but im a like cautious cuz its little unknown terrain for me. But now i think i'll go for it... i want that Supra. And if there is an issue ... i love challenges ;)
I got one of these a couple of years ago, I also had trouble with mine, I was wondering on this newer version out that you have here, is there any play at all on the ball joints between the lower suspension arms and the underside of the hub carrier? As mine is as sloppy as it gets, thank you for sharing this video👍
@@TomleyRC I believe that the swing shafts are pot luck to be honest, there doesn't seem to be any consistency with the quality in that area and unfortunately the shafts come in as an awkward size, they are kind of inbetween the 2 standard sizes available for the '1/28 scale' scene, Would you know if the receiver/esc is compatible with the flysky radio protocol like the older version? Thanks dude🤘
So when someone asks you the difference between toy grade and hobby grade you whip out this and a disney lightning mcqueen from argos and you don't even have to say anything.
£100 and you have to rebuild it and remove 25% of the body just to make it work ‘out of the box’??? Am I alone in thinking that is barmy, look what else £100 buys you these days!
Yes they do. Not all, but a lot of them do. If you see anyone reviewing products they have been given to test for free, and there is no ‘paid promotion’ tag at the start, then they are not following the rules set by RUclips. 😉👍

Same here, and very customizable
Agreed!

The coolest little mini RC car i have ever seen " funny stuff " nice car car wicked !
THIS is the coolest mini r.c. you’ve ever seen? Good lord, man!
I still have my Xmods.

Yeah the WLtoys look a decent deal! I ordered one a while back and it never turned up. Then they went out of stock so just got a refund in the end
@@TomleyRC that sucks. You should definitely get one though. They are crazy fun and fast out of the box. Just remember to get the metal axles right away.
Cool little car. Nice review
Thanks mate
@@TomleyRC I got one of those 1/32 scale buggies off bangood. They are mental little cars
As always a fair review.
Alot of potential, would be good for someone who drifts larger scale to run indoors to hone their skill maybe...
Very nice little car and the carbon chassis is beautiful ! 👍

Yes, not ideal that it needs work out the box. It's gone to a good home :)
Looks a nice little car it's an evo x shell I do believe and like it in that green two 👍👍👍
That body could definitely use some black paint on the inside
That is one badass car.all the carbon parts excellent looks tuff n durable gotta get one 👍💥💀
Top marks for honesty dude 👌👍
Thanks James

Is this the same as the Mini-D? Same body, same carbon fiber stuff, though the Mini-D's tx is the dumborc 6 channel something.

That all seemed ok, it was just the issue with the CVD's and the spur/pinion
@@TomleyRC I believe that the swing shafts are pot luck to be honest, there doesn't seem to be any consistency with the quality in that area and unfortunately the shafts come in as an awkward size, they are kind of inbetween the 2 standard sizes available for the '1/28 scale' scene,

Molto bella ...io però giri ancora con WL k989 drift ... ciao Tomley
The cheap one isn't as cool but it works pretty well. If I could do it over I'd spend $20 more (than the cheap version) and get the WLToys
Yeah, the WLToys looks good!
Interesting little mini-drifter Phil, not my cup of tea,but still a cracking piece of kit.
Yeah, looks good... needs some fine tuning
Awesome video
Thank you
Nice item
Nice video
Thank you
so where's the drift part :D
You must have missed it 😎
How much is it? I want one now
So when someone asks you the difference between toy grade and hobby grade you whip out this and a disney lightning mcqueen from argos and you don't even have to say anything.
haha
That body does not come close to n Auto Scale from Kyosho. Got the Evo bodies ... so this one looks like a Nascar body with the look of an evo
Yes, they look lovely!
Hope the produce extra lancer bodies.
When he said he stripped a pinion I was like then get a carbon fiber pinion
Nice 😂
I burned this esc to easy installing a larger batery to easy 2x it smoked and thats it so without brushless esc is bit low performance
Convince the company to improve it on the phone.
In other words...
It should be sent as a kit.
Yes I'd say so
Having to tinker to get it working, that's all part of the hobby. Well worth a punt for 100 quid.
Tinker to enhance/improve yes, but just to get a run out of it? My £100 goes elsewhere 😳
Look up Beaver's Hobby on here
Yes, have seen some of the videos :)
I got the wltoys k989
Yes, they are cool
It does not look like is drifting
Yeah, needs drift tyres
So my takeaway is to avoid this unit like the plague.
Those tires look garbage for drift. Too grippy?
Not drift tyres that's why
For that much money you should not have to work on it! WLtoys 989 is cheaper, faster and great out of the box!
Kind of reminds me of Xmods
Do fpv with it I mite get it if you do fpv
