The fact that you guys didn't watch or know the movie connected to the last 3 movies made this entire review fall apart.
Not really when its like 300 years into the future
Not really. It helps for sure but you don’t have to.
@evangingerson1271 Some of their complaints, like explaining the virus, was literally in the previous 3 movies, so yes, it does help.
Well they sucked
@@jbird6216 the last trilogy was incredible. Tf you yapping about??
How did you not watch the Cesar trilogy? Lmao
Right? Especially Dawn was pretty amazing,it's like the dark Knight of these movies haha
Yeh like wtfz
@@stefandinu6389Lmao TDK with Apes. Love it!
They shouldn't even review movies if they haven't seen the others. My god. Same thing happened with Furiosa.
Dawn and War are incredible. Masterpieces imo
This new one is very good. But the human characters were a major misfire and the antagonist (while really good) doesn’t have enough screen time
From “NO!” to “What a wonderful day” love this series
Was that a Mad Max reference?
@@SilverScribe85no it’s a planet of the apes reference 🤦🏽♂️
@@Canseeyt I ask because whenever I heard that quote in the trailer, I suddenly (for some reason) thought of Mad Max
@@SilverScribe85Its from the original movies with Charlton Heston.
Apes together strong
Can’t believe Alex didn’t see the last trilogy. It’s great.
No, it's not, only for people who no longer have any demands because Hollywood has already lobotomized them so much.
its so good
Saw Madame Webb, but not the apes trilogy
“Great” if you have low IQ
yeah odd to miss all 3. Not perfect but worth watching
Other joe looks kinda different
Puberty
Like
New haircut
Yeah way sexier
Even changed skin color
Paramount: We can’t make a successful movie without humans being the main characters.
Planet of the Apes: Hold my Banana 🍌 🗿
😭😭
Except there were still too many humans in this.
Kong x godzilla was good for reason too
Start watching 21Kiloton...
No Diddy(Kong)
The last trilogy was actually pretty good. The story of Caesar is good and Andy Serkis did phenomenal in that motion capture role
i love them
Rise and war are pretty good but dawn is amazing
‘Pretty good’😭 they’re absolutely phenomenal
Pretty good is an understatement
@@evangingerson1271 ikr, the disrespect..
Alex has homework to do to watch Cesar's trilogy.
I don't know how you can be on a channel that reviews blockbusters and not have seen those movies.
@@MS-ii1sv alex doesn't like to watch movies!! He's force by Joe to see them.
@@edwardabreu5851 Okay so his opinion has no merit.
Having someone who hasnt seen the other movies can be a benefit sometimes. Similar to how a lot of people that saw The Force Awakins for the first time likely never saw any of the previous Star Wars movies.
“they were talking about the sickness and all that stuff, I’m assuming they’re setting that up for the future” 😅 if only he watched the original trilogy
lol yeah humans got absolutely bonkers on the last movie, they have to deal with massive plague that destroys human civilizations and a war against ceasar tribes
Almost stopped watching when he said that, terrible review. You can tell it was only made for the hype
The previous Ape trilogy is one of the strongest in recent memory. I'm a big softy for monke and apes so I loved it. 8/10, it does drag a bit in the middle but I loved every minute.
I have a huge love for the original great movies of the 1950s and 1960s. The original movie was a very strong and poetic movie for the Cold war nuclear era.
The middle bit was mind numbly bad
The 2010s are the best ones
I’ll give it a solid 5/20
@@shawnmagma7090 Are you talking about Dawn? Dawn is arguably the best movie in the trilogy and one of the best movie in the overall franchise.
"No apes were harmed in the making of this movie."
Or humans for that matter 😮
I guess Alec Baldwin wasn't on set
Heh you mean there was no man sexually assaulted in this movie… remembering one of apes wanted make out with astronauts in other movie lol
Attention Attention we have conformation, that the kingdom of the apes suck
@@user-qh5fv3gm5m um
If you haven't seen the last trilogy trilogy then why tf are you sitting there with your arms crossed??
imagine watching the fourth instalment and not seeing/remember the last three.. what happened to these guys?!
exactly
@SKETCHGAMING69 They have always been horrible at reviewing movies. They should just stick to games.
For real they already invalidated their ratings of the film.
I feel like you NEED to watch the first 3 in order to better understand this one. The way I saw it was the Apes twisting Caesars Legacy ignoring that he did have compassion for humans but never failed to put his apes first. So we see Noah learn of Caesar and begins to adapt the compassionate traits yet I don’t think proxima was wrong either about humans being selfish and wanting to put them back in cages. I thought it was interesting to see two sides of interpretation of Caesars beliefs and wish they expanded more on it .
Exactly and now they don’t know how to read so they’ll need Mae to be the bridge along with Noah and Cesar’s books. Cesar probably explains that in 2 it was really just Kobas fault and 3 was a bad human that the army was hunting anyway the Apes never started with any violence, he probably even says how the virus came about. Because Will his human father tried to cure his grandfather of a disease
I'm unsure how you can review this movie when you haven't watched the previous trilogy. This one is a follow-up and in a timeline that is generations later. Like many new movie series, the first is usually slower due to world-building. It was the same way for other movie series like Dune. Hopefull, the next movies follow suit and get better. Yikes, I don't know who the actress playing Mae is!
You review it as a standalone movie. What happened in the past or comes in the future shouldn't affect this movie's rating.
@@GDRobbyenope
Exactly
@GDRobbye what? That's absolutely not true lmao if they they screwed up the lore or just ignored it that would absolutely effect how I would rate this movie. You literally see the og characters at the start. That's crazy to say.
You guys gotta watch the Ceaser trilogy.. Its amazing.. Specially Dawn.. This movie is a sequel to those 3 movies not the other movies, 2011 was a reboot..
Dawn is great. The others really not.
Actually the 2011s trilogy is kinda of a origin story to the original movies
@@TheLastPrimor they never mention it out right.. When the 2011 movie came out i loosely remember they said somewhere it's a new start.. But they never discard the old 68-73 movies.. Kind of like a soft reboot, never mention the old ones... If you wanna think that you can but it's not necessary to watch the old ones..
I liked War more.
@@TheLastPrimor Its a very loose origin story. The originals are so chaotic narrative-wise that the 2011s trilogy kind of pays homage while also being a reboot. I.E in the originals they literally say that the apes became smart because humans used them as pets following a virus that killed cats and dogs. The 2011s borrow themes while also rebooting them to make them more 'believable'
The last 3 are actually underrated imo and some of the best sci-fi in recent years, they really hold up! Look forward to seeing Kingdom to see for myself how it compares 🤠
Yeah I like them, the story is pretty solid too
Dawn has a monkey dual wielding machine guns while riding on a horse. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen.
I agree. I binged all 3 before watching Kingdom. I highly enjoyed them and Kingdom was pretty good too.
Ceasar's journey was so good.
You guys use the word underrated for every movie
How tf do you review this movie and not watch the first 3?
Wth?
Trying to be “legitimate” critics but not really seeing or going back to watch the last trilogy is insane to me.
Honestly it still works to get an opinion on it from someone if they never seen them. Is it good enough for people to want to watch after the fact
They’re casual critics
There not trying to be legitimate there just trying to watch a movie and give there opinion, they never pretend to be ebert
They have never claimed that
How have they never heard how good the movies where and the praise at the time.
Find it strange they didn’t come across watching it.
Its really hard for u guys to do this review with soo little knowledge of the previous films. Cmon dudes!
How Alex not watch the trilogy and prep yourself for this one smh that should of been a priority.
He really is just a party pooper
I knew they wouldn't be able to review accurately once he said that
“Mmmmmmmmm, Monke.” -Oogway
10/10!
WAIT? Alex didnt watch the new trilogy? Its one of the best trilogies ever. Thats crazy
Alex just likes watching paint dry😂😂
Remember in the James Franco movie there is a quick part in which the news anchor on a tv says that all contact has been lost with a space mission. I really thought this movie was going to do something about that and have astronauts return to Earth but none of that happens.
Still too soon for that. Things need to get much worse for humans lol. There were some astronaut murals tho, so we don't forget 😅
That’s way later in the future of the timeline
Give it time!
Thats what they saw in the telescope
I think that’s what they were alluding to with the telescope
Watching a movie while you play a game?
Yeah wtf is that about smh.
The “What a Wonderful Day” scene was one of the deepest parts in the entire movie. Proximus using Caesar’s words which were originally meant for good and twisting them into something very bad. It also shows how religion can quickly become a cult if it is misinterpreted and people are misled.
Jesus, how much vacation time does OJ get??
OJ has his way with things, the rate at which he breaks games I think he deserves it 😅
as much as he wants!
OJ's the real boss here. He gets as much vacay he wants.
Probably the reason why he's not Angry 😂
Don’t worry about it
I loved Kingdom of the Planet of the Crystall Skull of the Revenge of the Son of the Chamber of The Secrets of the Rise of The Raiders of the Last Crusade of the Apes
Shouldve called it Planet of the Apes: Kingdom Come
Wait til the rest of the trilogy comes out
@@Bignuke87 Or just Kingdom of the Apes
The Ape Awakens
The Last Ape
Rise of the Apes
@@Bignuke87🎵 Its where my demons hide, its where my demons hide.
How can they have an honest review without having seen the previous 3 films? Horrible review by the Joe team I'm very disappointed. I know it's subjective but the film mentions Caesar dozens of times so without watching the previous 3, you can't fully understand who he was and what they were referring to the whole movie. Such a shame because Kingdom was a 8/10 at least.
Bunch of jokers reviewing the 4th but not seen 1 - 3 😂
27:55 Alex is just dead inside, I did feel the moments lol
Ya'll should have watched the 2011s trilogy before seeing this haha it answers the majority of your questions and points of confusion with the lore/virus/etc.
Absolutely....
These guys had one job
The astronauts and Icarus were shown in a tv clip within the movie Rise, it’s in the background.
Also newspaper saying there lost in space.
Rise and dawn were the best… rewatch, Caesar was him.
i didn't like dawn, the human characters were a bit boring
How have you guys never seen the 2010 trilogy?
Clown world
Reboot trilogy is heavily underrated. I’m excited to see this one and where the story goes in this continuation trilogy.
In Rise they show on the tv in the background that a shuttle that went into space disappeared. That is how they are going to connect the movies. The original ape movies started with the astronaut ended with Caesar taking over. New ape movies start with Caesar, end with astronaut
The movies are not connected to each other. It's their own thing. They make references and love towards them films but they're not connected.
@@IbbyB.^
I agree that this movie (which will probably become a trilogy) is made by someone with their own vision. These movies were not planned when the previous trilogy came out. But these trilogies will definitely connect. I'm not sure if they will introduce an astronaut from the past like in the original, but it could absolutely happen.
They are not connected. They are gonna have their own take on the Icarus which is still in space and hasn’t returned
@@R3VELAT1ON Just to be sure... are you referring to this new movie not being connected to the original movies (1968-1973) or to the Caesar trilogy (2011-2017)?
“Because I’m excited about potential, 7/10”
Or you could just score the movie based on its own merit.
I am excited about the possibility of me getting excited.
Well the movie making you excited for the future can up the score. As it can mean the movie was good enough overall to excite them.
This is not a remake of the 70's ones... this is a sequel of the new ones... do not expect this franchise to go like the 70's ones.
It would be a nice messege of apes and humans as allies against the more agressive apes, a kingdom of humans and apes.
Feel like we might get their interpretation of 70s one with how the movie ends.
And btw they aren't just voice acting but they actually have people doing motion capture in person for the apes.
And honestly I love the slow pacing at the start, it's so damn good. I would've felt jipped if they shortened the film. And I think it makes the fights much more impactful.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a solid 8/10 for me
The theaters survived 2020. I'm not sure how they are still a thing to this day. You got maybe 3 theater worthy movies a year.
I swear good movies were dropping all the time before 2020
Alex, the Caesar trilogy is really amazing, and I'd love to see your take on it. Bearing in mind that you have a life and probably plenty to do on your plate, damn, would it be interesting to see what you think, especially having seen this film first
The original movie will always be the best. Charton Heston always was in great movies.
It wasn't as good as the other three, but I still found it enjoyable.
I don't know what they're on about when it comes to slow pacing? Do they just want nonstop action? That sounds like a pretty shallow movie. Most of the slow moments are meant to build the world up. Obviously this is a set up for a new trilogy. I saw the movie too and I feel like its a solid 8/10 for me and that is because the movie is really REALLY good. The reason I have it at an 8/10 is because I felt the villain was underutilized and we could have done with more time focused on him. Other than that, the rest of the movie is pretty solid.
Mae also being able to just... seemingly know how to get into this weapons vault, know where to find the key she was looking for, and having the knowledge to make high explosives also was just odd. It's been 300 years and yet she acts like she used to work at this vault or something. Also its been 300 years and satellites still work? How?
Im glad Joe has seen the other three movies at least. Glad they rated it based on the trilogy.
5 minutes in I look up and realize there’s no Other Joe 😔
“Shit goes for 9 hours, mfers walking then on a horse then walking then back on a horse” 😂
I like this movie but I feel like they had a lot of missed opportunities.
I would have loved to see like a Koba inspired clan. Or an advanced clan with their own inventions that makes sense for apes . Etc.
So hype for this underrated franchise. Seeing it tonight
I think a unique concept brought by this film is May and Rokka and how they're opposites in how they treat history.
And how Rokka (an ape) gave his life to save Mae while she later killed an ape. So Rokka saving her potentially leads to the death of multiple apes.
May was aware of the actual history of the planet. Rokka believed in a made up version of history based on his Caesar religion.
Freya character is not selfish. She is on a Mission to Save humankind.
Other Joe cosplaying the gorilla character is something I didn’t expect
lol that is low
@@truthseeker6532 not as low as the recent Disney ratings🤣
@@TibiConstantine
lol!!!!!
1 film a year in the 70s? How?
Couldn’t be here any faster
I’m a sucker for movie reviews, especially ones I know I’m not going to see so I can watching w/o caring about spoilers
@@SadSadSadSquishSquishSquishyeah I watch it the 9th and was very interested to see their opinion vs Jeremy someone who seen all vs them it’s a different perspective
There is a bird out there that preys on monkeys so the eagles killing proximus wasn’t that unbelievable
A- only because of Rocket but maybe the director felt Rocket would have followed Mae to her goal.
Alex - PLEASE watch the other 3 movies
Kingdom is kinda bad if you compare it to rise ,dawn, war but on its own it’s pretty decent 💯
As a big fan of the Caesar trilogy, I was pretty disappointed. There's a boring subplot about eagle eggs that takes up 30 minutes. The final fight was ridiculous.
@@slang1517 I thought so too, it felt like a Disney moment. He’s getting his ass beat by proximus then starts singing and then the eagles kill him :/
@@MegaTopdragon Proximus was outnumbered 50 to 1. They should have said 'apes together strong' and monkey-stomped him. But they all stand around and wait for eagles to help. If I were Noah, I'd be mad. Like, 'thanks for the help guys.' I had to rely on this bird that hated me for the whole movie.
Kingdom was significantly better than War. Don't even try to lie here.
@@za-ir5ni that’s a big lie 💀💀🤣
Will we find out that noa distant direct descendants from Caesar in future sequels because he lookalike Caesar and does noa have Caesar birthmark?
Trevathan doesn’t know about the ventilation shafts, and apes are afraid of water, case closed.
Final Verdict 7/10.
10/10 from me
8/10 from me. I hope there’s a director’s cut with 30 minutes of additional footage
7/10. Since most of the movie is world building, the sequel will be like Dawn with more action.
Spoilers.
I really hope Raka isn't dead, he was such a cool character and I believe a descendant of Maurice.
No rating from me. Haven't seen it yet
Enjoyed the movie, the parts I could focus on anyway. A group of young teens showed up ten minutes or so into the movie and were talking and being disruptive the entire first half. For a moment I think they took a photo of either me or the screen? A bright flash hit me from right behind and I was like WTF? Didn't go out of my way to complain as the theater staff are all teens who are constantly high and don't seem to care much. Other than that a decent 7.5/10 for me. Great review btw.
I had a big croowd too. I like sitting in the back and could see phones in front of me. Got to go to matinees.
Are there other apes that weren’t infected with the virus that don’t talk? 🤔
This is literally fallout new vegas where the courier destroys the bunker under Caesars legion camp. Almost beat for beat.
"Voice actors"?
They were on set in mo-cap suits
i really enjoyed this movie but it was stressful to watch i just felt bad for everyone the whole time
i thiught it was creepy too kept expecting jump scares.
From what I’ve heard they want to do 9 films and this next trilogy I would assume would lead up to that 1968 original where they do another trilogy based on that
Same thing I'm saying first was the start n fall of mankind the Cesar saga in the early 21st century, right now we on the Noah's saga 300 years later, 24 century, n then probably another time jump 400-500 years in the future with the time period of the original 68 film somewhere in the 28th maybe 29th century that's like maybe 700-800 years after Ceasar time has passed.
Wow! Delrith lost a lot of weight! Happy for him!! ❤
I feel like Kingdom is decent on its own but compared to the trilogy its definitely the weakest one. Regardless, I still hope the new ones will be stronger than this one (if the film is successful of course)
considering it's the first of this new trilogy it's still a strong start like rise was (maybe better?).
@@Mrinsomniacthis is nowhere close to a strong start like rise. Maybe if the mae character had a better relationship with the apes it could have worked but she's just there. Wills character started such an iconic character in Caesar because of their bond. You get none of that in Kingdom. Was a fun film but worst in the franchise. Personally people probably would disagree but I think rise was my favorite. It had the best of everything. Science, human ape friendship, chaos, great visuals and great story.
This movie was better than Rise of The Planet of the Apes
@@hugoricardo2618 Idk about that honestly. That scene where Ceasar says "No" is frigging iconic
@hugoricardo2618 I think Rise was better, but it also benefits from having talking humans so we as an audience have more of a connection with them. And I also think Matt Reeves did a better job of keeping the story interesting during the 2nd act. Whereas, I thought the 2nd act for Kingdom did drag a bit and I thought they waited way too long to introduce Proximus. He was such a good villain, but they didn't introduce him until over halfway through the movie. I do like the setup up for sequel films though.
I really enjoyed it honestly. What they did with Mae was interesting and the one thing I'm not too sure of, especially with the ending that we got. But I really loved Noa and I hope Raka's brief appearance isn't the end of him after all a big movie rule is you need to see a body to confirm a death lol. But I really enjoyed it, this is one of those where you don't need the previous ones to get into but man they add so much more knowing who Caesar was and how his image has been misinterpreted by the generations that followed him. I really hope we get a complete trilogy but honestly the conflicts I like are the ones between the apes, don't know how far they'll go with the human component.
If this movie was The Force Awakens for the Planet of the Apes franchise, that does not make me very confident for the next film lol 9:10
The one with Franco was the best one to me 💪💪💪
If you were paying attention to the background dialogue in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, you'll know that there is this story of the lost astronauts and if you saw the original Planet of the Apes, you know that story involved astronauts who inadvertently ended up in the future... They have to keep making these until they close the loop with the return of the lost astronauts. I'm glad this is a trilogy, and that portends that more is to come because they need to tell the story of these astronauts returning.
The reboot trilogy is one of the greatest trilogies of the last 30 years. I’m a long time fan of you guys, but I’m seriously disappointed in you for not seeing them. Like wtf
Patrick would’ve gotten an f from my high school English teacher because of how many damn times he says “like”
I love they didn’t exclude Caesar because he is the heart of this series for me. I absolutely loved this movie, the movie didn’t even feel as long as it was. Only thing I wish was different is more explaining more about who Caesar was to those who didn’t know. Maybe in the next one they can get into that a little more.
I was wondering how they trained the monkeys to ride horses. Then I realised. They were just ‘acting’.
I understood that reference.
I'm shocked yall haven't rly seen the trilogy. It's easily one of my favorite trilogies of all time, literally up there with lotr. Alex needs to watch them right now
Raka makes a noise at the end of the credits insinuating he's alive ❤
Last trilogy was amazing. Much better than this one
Joe's "Orangutang" reminds me of Cumberbatch's "Penguing"
of course alex didnt see one of the greatest trilogies of all time, hes allergic to great movies
Yeah that's weird that he hasn't seen the other 3
alex only watches bad films then complain films suck
Wow let's calm down it's good but not one of the greatest
You JUST found the Marky Mark remake????? Do a vid on that fr (keep in mind it’s early 2000s lol)
Let’s forget about Tim Burton’s horrible 2001 version…
Patrick? No, this is OJ.
I'm not black I'm OJ
To quote Joe, this movie gets the BADASS Seal of Approval from me
Hmmm that third guy seeeems….. different
They don’t even remember the new kings name 😳. I think the purpose of Proximus dying the way he did and the gorilla is to push the Caesar narrative of apes not killing and being stronger together.
Joe idk if you're ever going to read this but it was awesome meeting you at the rockbox
Come on the fellas
So how good is Ciri from the Netflix Witcher Series in this new world were she travelled to guys?!?! :D
1:31 clearly lying his ass off he's heard of that movie you gotta be living under a rock all the way at the bottom of the Mariana trench to not know about that movies existence.
Those last three films were AMAZING! They are widely known as one of the best movie trilogies of all time.
I'm surprised that Alex has not seen the movies. Especially because these guys don't seem to know what the world building and rules in this universe are.
i wish they expanded more with the apes finding/keeping those books from the silo and learning how to read, going on a quest to find the books that raka was safekeeping, and then have the final battle with proximus be more about clashing philosophies of proximus vs caesar.
i think it would have been really interesting if both races were after a bible as it would be the salivarion to who ever has it cos it teaches working together. the apes could have wanted it destroyed as its different than the Caesar teachings. i like the idea that the apes can be morally superior to humans cos they follow their ethical code.
@@punisher007ishthe film already states that the apes are morally superior than the humans.
I thought it was pretty good but the ending was lacking for me
Ciri somehow transported to a different plane of existence... wonder when the witcher will show up
I think they are all solid 7/10 in a way that impresses you a lot more after watching first but then you realize they're not as clever as they could be. just solid medium and the CG is good enough to stay relevant for a while
i think the first 3 were all 9's, guess we all have opinions :D
Rise and War were 9s, Dawn was a solid 10 for me.
The score is 7/10
Hey spoilers 😂
Alex needs to go and watch th Ceasar trilogy. It is really good and he won't be disappointed.
I watched the movie and the film didn't linger on the landscaper too long like these guys said. It was just enough to show you how the world has changed since the Cesar trilogy. And I love seeing it and trying to guess what football field they're at or what mall or airport they were walking through. This was an adventure and I like this one better that the Cesar trilogy.
