I like that you’re doing an officers perspective. It would be cool to see you do an ex inmate from a higher custody level and an officer together and have them talk together about their experiences. It would have to be the right kind of people who could have intelligent conversation, but that dynamic could be cool.
I’m in counseling and I love it! It just flat out helps. If you’re a man and your ego is stopping you from seeing a counselor/therapist, well, you have more issues than you think.
Horseheads is a great town everything you need in Steuben County. Great Video as a former CO always like seeing these videos. People don’t realize all the things that go on in there.
Shout out to Carhartt!!! Nice hat! Thanks for sharing your love for Carhartt as they are right here in our sweet little town! Incredible community partner who employs so many folks here in our county and supports so many organizations here. So thanks for sporting your Carhartt Ball cap !!
Carhartt is such a fantastic brand, lasts forever and very comfortable to work in. Thank you Carhartt, also that hoodie is cool because it has a small pocket in the front pocket.
I liked the interview Ian! I always like your interviews and mostly all your guests. I believe in constructive criticism. There is always room for improvement in all aspects of life. Take what you find useful and keep on pushing forward. Every time i watch an interview, i see improvement. I imagine its hard bc some guest are more talkative and some need regular questions. You are doing great! Im looking forward to the next one. I was your neighbor at one point. I actually remember the club that you worked at. Im from Shelton, Connecticut originally. Are you a Dutchess restaurant fan?
One big thing i always tell newbies when one is assigned to me for ojt is dont just assume your better than the inmates some of these guys just plain screwed up and you could end up here to. Treat them with respect and like human beings and for that you will be treated that way also. Plus it is right thing to do. And do not be petty.
In outside clearance in Elmira you have your own gallery but gen pop is literally right above you, I just spent a year there it was crazy the shit going on
Ian, thanks for your informative videos. Thanks for responding to me twice. Dpeezy is the man that makes prison food and other videos. Ive seen a few. I just look up the table knock. Very interesting why it's done. Much success, health, happiness, and blessings to all.
There are plenty of jobs in the defense industry where you can't have cell phones and you work long hours. I personally know of a lot of buildings where cell phones are not allowed
Did over 25 years, it's what you make of it and of course there's life situations you can't control, IE health and some situations but in this area I saw many work 50 years in a factory retire and pass within a couple of years so what's the difference. Now the system is broken and it's because of the governing bodies that it's tanked. Unfortunately because of the government actions there could be a big blowout somewhere because of staffing and or training!
Did the 25 years go fast? And did it make you a better person in anyway? The life experiance of being in that situation i mean. And is it true the best way is to take it one day at a time?
@@Thunderrolls87 Put it this way I'm coming up n ten years retired and those 25 yrs. didn't go that fast! lol I wouldn't want to do time in a prison and the things I have seen were of the charts.
@@georgejones5960 I am nearing 10 years on the job. In some ways its went fast in some ways not. Broooooo!!!! Take it from someone who’s been here from the start your interviews are starting to feel more and more shallow. You have 85% of this one which was completely generic questions, which yes are completely unavoidable and HAVE to make up a portion of any interview but should be more like 15%-30% of a perfect interview. Very few of your questions actually built off of the interview as a whole and what was said previously. On top of the unrelated, basic, questions you also stayed on the top layer the entire podcast where this podcast didn’t seem different than the majority of your other podcasts, you could’ve dropped this at the end or beginning of another recent podcast and they would’ve flowed almost seamlessly. Please make an attempt to get deep in the convo and build the conversations in a way that’s unique to your current discussion, podcast, and guest. Love ya bro and keep up the hard work just allow let the increased volume and subscribers to make the podcast more generic and take away the unique flavor of each episode.
If I were Ian I’d cut your subscription. This isn’t helpful feedback. Conducting a weak performance review on someone you don’t pay or supervise is silly. Miss this one Ian.
@@ianbickCTif I had had to give constructive criticism I’d say don’t be a people pleaser Ian. Miss these types of comments. Your channel will grow with or without reacting to stuff like this. You’re working hard and doing well. Do your thing
I don’t see anything wrong with what Clips said. I also thought some of the questions were very basic while I was watching the interview. It doesn’t allow for a guest’s unique story to come out when everything is just surface level
One strength of this pod cast is the rookie element. Those going into corrections or exploring the possibility. I particularly liked the Attorney with the Autistic "Murderer" case. Quite a story of empathy, ingenuity, ethics, and professionalism. Not a "Prison" story but related none the less. I spent 35 years in a county jail, deputy, cpl, sgt. Union Prez, Union Rep, Admin sgt, training sgt, work crews, work release, elec monitoring, courts, transports, medical, Tx programs, inmate workers, volunteer coordinator, fights, fires, riots, suicides, deaths, escapes, booking, drunks, arrests, floods, feces, taser, pepper, batons, sexual exploits, and more, what a ride. Not everyone will be as articulate or entertaining as others. State Prisons vs co. jail vs Federal Prison vs military prison vs private prisons. Ya do need guests to explain some terminology as they go along, one's food port is anothers wicket is anothers slot is anothers hatch. I'd be enterested in more details of academy training and field training. It sounds like in this episode it is very lacking in some places. By the way, Ketchup is like 50% sugar and helps makes a good pruno. So it's suger without immediately looking like, suger...
This man knows little to NOTHING of the system and it’s day to day. This man hears the question and then uses the question information to answer the question sounding like he’s fabricated answers. His lack of detail and accuracy in answering is very apparent. To many, “I’m not sure” answers here. If you’ve been in the business, this dudes answers are a JOKE.
Well.... On a public forum like this it's probably best to keep it question based and not throw anything or anybody under. If you wanna know more about day to day don't get it from here, sign up and be a guard.

People that live all around the Great Lakes area, even Upstate New York, all speak with the "Inland North" dialect.
Funny you mentioned that. Within the first few minutes, I thought to myself: "hmmm, their accent sounds a little bit unique".
