This guy is Over exaggerating, just a little bit.I worked in prisons in the 80s in Texas, the worst of the worst. It was nothing like how this guy is explaining it
He was respected and respectful because he understood and lived by the convict code to be respected by convicts you basically have to become one mentally Which is profound
I agree , as a former correction officer I too believe all police officers should have to spend a couple of years in corrections before policing. Gives a whole different prospective not to mention half or more would not make 1 month
The future cops should do at least 2-3 years as a prison guard and to start your police career you should be put in the cities first than work to your retirement in a small town.
27 years as a NYS prison guard. Retired 10 years ago - this interview brought me back on the job. Funny how many prisons are almost exactly the same down to the block letters representing the worst blocks. I can relate to just about every story Michael told.
I actually work with Smitty at his “dream job”. He runs our boxing gym and is as real as it gets. Good dude, honest, humble, proud, and a funny MFer. But I wouldn’t want to fight him 😂. Great interview. See you tomorrow brother 😂.
Worked right across the street from CFCF for a couple years and catered to the LEO/MILITARY/first responders community around there and I used hear the craziest stories everyday
After having student loans, I will say I have actually considered the fact, going to prison, I could get a degree. 📜 I have no record, but student 👩🎓 💸 loans tie you down anyways. I won’t do it, but I have honestly, considered going to prison for this reason. This is crazy that tuition prices has put an honest, no record individual considering this though just to defeat student loan debt & tuition. Crazy society is set up that way. Tuition is out of hand.
I'm with you on the flying my man. The only planes I've been on is when I was being transported by the feds. I even told them I wasn't gettin' on the plane(for a few mins). I asked for something to make me sleep and everything... I got on the plane(twice with them), but never will I willingly. I understand how you feel!!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽! I Pa. Born and raised about an hour outside Philly. don’t fly either I flew to Memphis and my doctor prescribed me some zanex two on the flight down and two for the flight home! I can drive 14 16 hours but I won’t fly for 20 minutes
Oz one of the Best shows ever ! Beacher ADEBIZI SAID .ALL ways some one trying to murdure another inmate Nino Schibetta the best Italian gangster I have ever seen
How about clean the prison up and the guards actually protect the weak. Half the corruption going on in prisons takes s place because the guards look the other way. If they can’t do their job for what ever reason, find another way to make a living. If it’s an animal house inside….. then it sounds like administrative and guard staff allowing this crap.
Ian, I did an interview with Matt Cox back in 2022, and have since stated my own podcast. I work in Law Enforcement and would love to collaborate with you if that interests you. Please let me know if you see this.
This guy seems genuine, but I can't help thinking back to that Sally Jessy show when everyone believed that Mafia cop scumbag lying his ass off and everyone thinking he was a hero... I hope I'm wrong because I do like this guy
Forgive this question if the answer should be obvious. Smitty said that someone had told him who had taken his cigarettes. Wasn’t that guy a snitch? Are there acceptable snitches or not, and how do you know the difference?
@@alexbanker9355 just waiting for the right one, to make it all worth it. Good reason to treat people right and be a good person. Many are out here like me.
800 pushups in 20 minutes? BS. I spent 9 years in Army combat arms, and there were a lot of PT studs…. back in the 90s, the max for pushups (to get 100 points) was 82 perfect pushups; i saw a person break the 85 pushups mark a few times. i never saw anyone ever break 100 . And we worked out 1 - 2 hours every day.
9:44 he said “I’m walking in there as a man, I’m gonna be walking out as a man..” 🙄 Okay dude. You’re a C.O.!! That’s something convicts say, usually referring to the possibility of getting “graped”, & their willingness to do anything to prevent that from happening. That phrase is something he has heard an inmate say & he thought “that’s pretty cool, I think I’ll try saying that too from now on.” Nobody’s trying to grape a C.O. foo. Not saying he’s a goofy guy, but it was a goofy moment when he said that.
This guy wouldn't be doing that in a California prison being locked up is very depressing in the last thing you want is a guard joking around with you.. yeah I'm out!
Great interview Ian. You don't see guards or cops like this guy anymore. Michael is a great guy.
Thanks so much!!

This isn't just one of the best videos you've done, this is one of the best interviews I've seen, period. Super interesting perspective.
Thank you so much
This dude is as real as it gets God bless his soul, 🙏
Man, Ian kept his mouth shut for this one. Well done man, good to hear a story uninterrupted.
Hahaha thank you man
He was respected and respectful because he understood and lived by the convict code to be respected by convicts you basically have to become one mentally Which is profound
Truer words were never written. Well put.
Former c/o here.
That's as precise and simple as I've ever heard.
I watch all your videos and I am a huge fan. This was the best interview and most relatable to me. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so so much!

The county I live in to get out on the road all cops have to spend a minimum of a year working at the jail.
The future cops should do at least 2-3 years as a prison guard and to start your police career you should be put in the cities first than work to your retirement in a small town.
@@lunsy9420that’s actually great. I’m a big advocate for that cause they hopefully won’t abuse their power as much.
You have to do 2 years as a co before you can become a sheriff here in our local county
@@lunsy9420 was it Alabama. They do the same

This is the first heart felt guard interview. Big respect this man.
Excellent interview. Thanks to you and your guest.

Great video! I do understand I too am a retired Correctional Officer!
If anyone ever puts together "Locked In Bingo," I'm 99% certain that the free space in the center should be "Gladiator School." 😆
It wouldn't be a free space then lol
55:37 it comes from the old Coast guard Barracks in Cape May N.J.
Graterford was no joke. Mad respect for this dude. Salute from the P 🫡💯

M. Smith could watch the program "Mayday". I think the Tenerife accident (Pam Am/KML) story is really interesting.
Part 2 and a book please….😉
I know a lot of people that have been in CFCF. They say it's one of tge most violent jail around
I thought for a minute that was Domenick Lombardozzi.
Best one yet
Jay Williams needs to do a show wit this dude
Being a CO definitely humbles you 100% true statement.
You gotta be genuine but NOT a pushover
The sponsor videos are so cringy it nearly ruins the content
Stop being a cry baby
I agree. The cut offs ruin the long form format with a cringy voice
