I’m not sure Jeff Bridges is an example of a hidden love child. His parents just weren’t married when he was born. My parents weren’t married when my brother and I were born (they got married 6 months after I was born and remain married to this day. There were reasons they couldn’t get married until then). My children were both born when I wasn’t married to their mother who was my long term partner. They’re not illegitimate though. We’ve since split up and I have married someone else but that doesn’t mean they’re illegitimate. Illegitimate makes it sounds like they were rejected or ignored. That’s not always the case. The idea that marriage legitimises a child is absurd and outdated.
