Qui Gonn needed to die. If Anakin never joined Palpatine, there's a high chance old Palps still would have succeeded and ended the Jedi order. And if Qui Gonn was Anakin's master, Luke and Leia may never have been born. Without them, there wouldn't be anyone left to fight the Empire. Just my hot take. Either all that would happen, or Anakin would have fulfilled his destiny and became the chosen one and singlehandedly ended Palpatine. But that seems less likely to me

But Yoda at least know, if the council knows, are enemies will multiply. Then again, their enemies already knew that. It's kinda hard for Yoda though, Kia Adi Mundi even stated the sith had been gone for a millenia. That's quite a long time. A feeling in which not even Yoda had been familiar with. Another thing that probably doesn't get mentioned. Qui-Gon Jinn was also the Jedi who was usually away from the temple for long periods of time.
Palpatine actually feared Jedi like Yoda would quickly catch on and it was a major reason he usually kept Yoda on Coruscant. He could continue to cloud Yoda's visions making his clairvoyance muddy and making it difficult to read.

except when he is going to reveal everything to Anakin. if Yoda had been on Coruscant at that time, he would have been one of the Jedi who went to arrest Palpatine, and given that a 1v1 Yoda vs. Palpatine ended in a stalemate and a 1v1 Windu vs. Palpatine ended in a defeat for the latter, Palpatine never would have stood a chance against Yoda and Windu together.

Qui gon was kind and caring, acting like a father to both obi wan and anakin. Whereas obi wan came across as the brother who was jealous of anakin, which made him belittle anakin a lot which anakin resented, add that to anakin having his ego stroked as the chosen one, and his frustration with his lack of advancement, and the ridiculous hoops the council put him through, its no wonder he turned to Palpatine for guidance and eventually fell to the dark side. And remember, anakin had years of compounded childhood trauma and the loss of his mother in addition to the huge responsibility of comanding troops and having to keep his forbidden love a secret, while watching hyppocrites like mundi have a family all in the middle of a huge war in which the results of several key battles hinged around him.

It's actually scary how much sense this makes. Using this train of thought, it wouldn't shock me if Palpatine used Darth Maul as a way of "putting a hit out" on Qui-Gon Jinn. Plus, Palpatine would have known Qui-Gon was in close proximity to Anakin Skywalker, wanting to train Anakin himself. As Palpatine was, at the time, a member of the senate, and the Jedi worked closely with the Senate, ALSO because Amidala was Queen of Naboo, and Palpatine was her Senator, Palpatine would have been able to put the puzzle pieces together pretty fast about Anakin and his off the charts midichlorian count. At their first encounter in episode 1, at the end, when Palpatine told Anakin he would be watching him with great interest, he planned the whole time to have Anakin as his apprentice in the end. He just needed to bide his time, and only used Count Dooku and possibly the Jedi who ordered the clone army from Kamino, as his Sith pawns until Anakin was both old enough and in a position to be open and receptive to going to the dark side. It was very much a game of chess for Palpatine. He probably would have seen Qui-Gon as a threat to his plans to turn Anakin, as well as Palpatine legit fearing him. Something to chew on, food for thought.

Nah it would also have been Revan, if he was still around Sideous would have been absolutely terrified of Revan's Potential and knowledge. Between his Mastery of both sides of the force,Force Augmentation, knowledge and application of tactics and overall War experience, not to mention he would have been the perfect teacher to young Anakin.

Okay he wasn’t the only one. He feared dooku extremely but only when it comes to the sword. Dooku in the books was par with yoda and yoda said if the fight went on for longer, yoda would’ve been at the disadvantage. In the books dooku fled because he felt padme and several clones approaching and he knew he’d be at a disadvantage so he left. After this duel sidious already knew dooku was a fantastic duelist and believed what plaguies said that he’d beat sidious but after he saw yoda and him duel, he knew 1’000% that he’d lose. Also he feared yoda because he knew yoda was his counterpart in the light side and then qui gon we all know why
