    Qui-Gon was more of a "shaman" Jedi. His focus was more on the nonphysical aspect of the force. His vision was so far ahead that the Jedi misinterpreted the current events as a misreading from Qui-Gon.

But after loosing his most trusted friend he felt being alone in this position and changed from questioning the council to openly opposing them. Learning how badass Qui-Gon really was, helps me to appreciate just how lethal of an assassin Darth Maul must've really been, and how amazing of a duelist Obiwan was.

    • @Ceracio
      @Ceracio 5 лет назад +559

      This. I think people underestimate Darth Maul alot because he was beaten by an apprentice and because in Rebels he's an absolute dweeb. The apprentice who beat him was Obi-Wan, who basically orchestrated or directly defeated 3 powerful Sith and one OP 4-armed Kaleesh General. In Rebels almost everyone is a dweeb.
      I think the Clone Wars representation of Darth Maul is the most striking, a powerful assassin, strong enough to hold his own against Darth Sidious, probably the most powerful character in the Star Wars universe since Revan and Vitiate, strong enough to absolutely destroy a Mandalorian warchief who held his own against Jedi Masters and strong enough to give Jedi Masters a severe beating himself, despite being weakened by his prosthetics. If Maul had been guided by a proper master of the Dark Side after being defeated by Obi-Wan on Naboo, he probably could have become powerful enough to stand up to Vader, after Order 66.

      Ging Freecss There was a comic where Vader fought a reincarnation or something of Maul and he was able to kill Maul when he drove his bald through his own chest into Maul. Maul asked what he could hate so much that would make him stronger, and Vader said, “Myself”.

    • @Saliem02
      @Saliem02 5 лет назад +236

      Szadek29 I still believe that the reason he lost to Obi Wan wasn’t because he was unskilled, he had just killed a Jedi Master, it wasn’t because Obi Wan was better, he was still in training, I think it was because of 2 things, Obi Wan was angry after Qui Gon’s death and so he used that in the fight, and the second reason was because Maul was arrogant after he had just killed a Jedi Master, instead of playing with him and sending sparks down he should have used the force to push him off the thing he was holding onto and Obi Wan would have fallen.

      the jedi exist to offset the balance created by the sith. while the sith tries to spread chaos, the jedi tries to imbue order. when qui gon jin found out about the slaves he reported back to the council since such acts are not supposed to happen, yet the council simply said that area is out of our influence, meaning qui gon jin's way of ending slavery isn't by protesting or by going apeshit on the slavers. his way is by informing the council so they can take legal actions. thus ending slavery in a peaceful way. the jedi are mostly passive, and will never act in an disorderly way as it increases the dark side of the force. in other words the jedi's look not on a small scale but the large picture. slavery is not condoned, but it is not in jedi's hands that this issue is resolved but in the hands of the senators.

    My theory is one that George Lucas personally hated and went out of his way to try and debunk but I still think holds true as long as you ignore the extended universe and only take what's on-screen as canon.
    Anakin Skywalker is the Chosen One.
    The chosen one is supposed to bring "Balance" to the force.
    This, of course, implies that the force is out of balance.
    There are thousands of Jedi in episode 1 in a galaxy-spanning organization. There is, however, only 2 Sith. A Master, and an Apprentice. This seems pretty dang far out of balance to me.
    Cut to episode 4.
    There are now 2 surviving Jedi. Obi Wan Kenobi, and Yoda. There are also two Sith. a Master and an Apprentice...
    Seems to me, Vader did bring balance to the force... But that wasn't what the Jedi expected now, was it?

      @LadyDoomsinger 4 года назад +35

      That was always my impression as well - balance implies an equilibrium, not a victory.
      But let's also not forget, that Anakin does in fact destroy the Empire in the end, effectively being the end of *BOTH* the Jedi Order *and* the Galactic Empire/Sith. In short, he brings balance to the force by exterminating almost every force user, leaving only Luke, a moderate Jedi.

Thus, Anakin would have been much harder to manipulate. Sidious needed Anakin to fear these feelings and thus not know how to control them. If Qui-Gon had taught Anakin to live with his feelings and have control over theme, Sidious would have been powerless as Sidious wouldn't have been the one Anakin entrusted help with these feeling to Sidious. If Qui-Gon had survived, I think the whole continuum would have been about how he and Anakin challenged the Jedi Council and their ways. Ultimately leading a separate group of neither Jedi nor Sith.
    As such the Jedi Order would have probably been too occupied with this conflict to notice Palpatine's plans in time anyway. But the separate group now led by the Chosen one would be there to defeat the sith after the Jedi were purged. Potentially finishing Palpatine once Yoda lost to him in the Galactic Senate Building. At this point order 66 would have been carried out a bit sooner. Maybe because Anakin and Qui-Gon warned Yoda and Windu about Palpatine, who then panicked.
    Would have avoided the whole Death Star thingy though. And maybe Dooku could have been saved.

      Liam Neeson (the actor for Qui-Gon) played a leading role in a movie called "Taken" (2009), and in the movie he phone calls a person who kidnapped his daughter. He says the following speech to the kidnapper:
      "I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."
      The original comment said Qui-Gon has a "particular set of skills", which is a direct reference to Liam Neeson's famous speech from "Taken"

    actually i believe qui-gon was yet another manifestation of "the father", padme being a manifestation of "the daughter" and anakin eventually turning into "the son".
    think about the parallels.
    qui-gon was the teacher, the one with wisdom and patience. and he was always in control of his self and his emotions.
    padme being the daughter, constantly trying to do good wherever she went and help everyone. she permanenty struggled to contain anakin as the daughter struggled to contain the son, and ultimately gave her life to grant life to someone else.
    anakin constantly struggled with his own rage, his pain, all of his emotions. but he was also passionate (as was the son!!) and full of regret (which is a sign of compassion, empathy and love!). the son ultimately ended up causing the daughters death, as did anakin cause padmes.

    heres a question for you SW theory, Where did the prophecy come from? who made it? when was it first spoken and by whom ? and since its first utterance how many people have known about it? we hear so much about the choosen one but i dont believe we know who first started that and when ( i could be very wrong and just dont know myself)

      Perhaps the force wielder that hijacked anakin n obi wan's ship. If u watched clone wars you know that he needed anakin to keep his children at balance especially the son. While the episode might've been more metaphorical it's still canon and shows that anakin had a duty n higher calling that both qui gon n obi wan both constantly had to remind him of. Chances are the father purposefully embedded the prophecy (since he is the will of the force n all) into anakin

    Because Qui Gon always loves it when a prophecy comes together.

      Palpatine was afraid of Qui Gon Jinn because he had a secret Identity; this was "Aslan the Lion". Jadis was Palpatine's girlfriend! You can work the rest out for yourselves! :D
