Hey VS this was a great episode. I've been subscribed for a few months and love your platform. Its diverse and different from a lot of channels. I don't agree with all of your opinions , but appreciate the way you articulate your views. You also give a different side to all of the negative things that other people say about some of your guest and give them a platform to defend themselves against all these haters that have no idea what they are speaking about, and just go on hear say. As some who has experienced a lot of hate from people who have no idea about what they are saying, just remember... when you are winning in life there will always be people who are not,and they will attack you to try to knock you off of you square. If you know who you are and stand by your principles and morals, hate and negativity will never prevent your success and excellence...stay excellent brother.

Personally, I wouldnt waste 2 seconds of my time, watching the equivalent of an Ignorant, Weak, NPC, Keyboard Warrior. Im the kind of dude, that puts on gloves... and says "SHOW ME". People like you are Spineless, and willfully ignorant. You make up plenty of Assumptions, and you believe anything that Favors your personal BIAS, without actual depth of Evidence and Proof. You are the type to convict an Innocent man... just because a gaggle of woman shed some fake Crocodile tears. You probably even Believed Amber Heard.. right?!
I have 30 years experience in the martial arts, spanning several different arts. Ive sparred against fighters of all kinds, heavy / full contact. Often against Blackbelt level fighters, that were 2x my own mass and strength. I can tell you, from merely watching Seagals movements... that he is a Masterclass level fighter. That even the lightest of taps, and he is causing severe pain to the fighter he "Tapped".
While the dude "MIGHT" be the worst / abusive Narcissist of all time... None of that matters, in the context of his martial arts skillsets. And while he certainly isnt a Great actor... he has some very good films... and he portrayed them quite well. Far better than someone like Cynthia Rotherock.. whom... while may be an extremely nice person... cant act for beans. She is pretty much unwatchable, to me. On the flip side, you have Michelle Yeoh... whom can act well, and replicate martial arts well (yet, as a REAL combat artist... I can easily spot her actual combat ignorance, and lack of actual in-depth combat training. That said, its close enough, to be acceptable / enjoyable)

Fun story: Seagal was widely popular until he wasn't and a lot of people who dug his films now claim to have never liked anything he ever did. Personally, Above the Law, Hard to Kill and Under Siege are watchable, while Out for Justice is a great action film from that environment. As far as all the BS about Seagal, we don't know. Nobody knows and I wonder if even Seagal knows anymore since he has been known to embellish his story on occasion. So what if I think that Seagal is more wooden than a pinetree? It's just my opinion and has absolutely nothing to do with why I follow the Viking/Samurai channel. My favorite martial arts action star happens to be Chuck Norris, who is also more wooden than a pine. Actingwise, of course. Good luck with training VS👍.

    • @Katzenhase
      @Katzenhase 11 месяцев назад +3

I like Chuck Norris but Norris was never an A-movie star because he stayed with Cannon. He did a movie called "Code of Silence" which was arguably his best film but he didn´t stay with an A-studio and did "Invasion USA" with Cannon after that. He also didn´t have Seagal´s charisma. There was a reason why Seagal was such a huge star. He had it all. Unfortunately, his huge ego and his increasing weight damaged his Box Office success. He tried to come back with "Exit Wounds" but after that he gained again 40 pounds and did a bad movie called "Half Past Dead". After that his career was over.

Same here. I liked Stallone back in the 80s but his acting was not really something to talk about back then, sure he finally evolved over time and was able to gain the respect he deserved, but not all people really quite get the lucky break that others do. Take Val Kilmer for example. I loved him in the 80s and 90s, he was in a lot of good films with great performances, but his last few films in the 2000s weren't up to standard compared to those in his younger years. Doesn't take away from what he was able to achieve in his younger years before old age and his health took its toll. At least Seagal achieved some fame compared to others who were never even recognized.

This video was hysterical but you gotta remember Steven is hated because he spent 4 decades bad-mouthing some of the nicest people out there. I remember at one point back in the day he offended people like Benny The Jett, Bill Wallace, Bob wall etc... Eventually they had enough of his lies and a bunch of them (known then as the Dirty Dozen), came out in public offering to challenge Steven to a match because he was boasting he could beat anyone out there etc... etc... truly crazy stuff. When all these guys came out like that, Steven backed down. I had stunt guys telling me stories after working with him that they really disliked him because he'd go full contact and these guys were making a living trying to stay safe for the next gig. He truly was a self centered ass. He could hit you but you couldn't hit him back. Reminds me of David Carridine - same thing with him. I was smart to walk away from one fight with him and my replacement had his jaw broken by him. I just shook my head and told everyone "I told you so". Can't wait till you get Steven on your show.... then you'll really get some crazy comments. LOL... Ask him about his friendship with Bruce Lee and how his son use to play with Brandon 🤣🤣😂😂😁

I asked the AI and here are unbiased results:
I don't have a strong opinion on whether the general public's view of Steven Seagal is justified or not. He's a controversial figure with a complex history. Some key points:
He was very popular in action movies in the 1990s, but his acting skills were criticized even then. His movies have declined in quality and popularity over the past 2 decades.
He has faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct and assault over the years, which have damaged his reputation significantly.
He has made many outlandish claims about his personal history and skills that have been proven false or exaggerated. This has made him seem dishonest or delusional to many.
On the other hand, he does have legitimate martial arts skills and has trained many students over the years. Some argue his contributions there should not be dismissed.
His support of authoritarian foreign leaders like Putin and criticism of the U.S. has also been controversial.
Overall, I'd say the public sees him as more of a bizarre eccentric than a respected artist or expert now. The accusations against him are very serious. But there are still aspects where he has authentic talents and knowledge. As with most public figures, the truth is complex. The public's view tends to simplify things into heroes or villains. A balanced, nuanced take may be needed on a figure like Seagal.

The saddest part about these keyboard warriors is that they would never actually say this to your face. Give certain people a keyboard and this weird negative confidence comes over them. Very sad.
I'm not the biggest Seagal fan myself, but I do enjoy his early films he did with Warner Bros, not to mention the 20th Century Fox flick "Marked for Death", which is an amazing action flick. As far as his personal life, I try not to pay attention to it as it's none of my business.
I will say though, he gained my respect when I saw him on Jesse Enkamp's "I trained with Steven Seagal for 1 Day" video. He just seemed so down to earth, helpful, and generous.
Keep standing up for what/who you believe in, Viking! 💪

Well, it's internet. People say stuff because they can get away with it. Like, it's not like Seagal himself are gonna call cops on those people who talk shit about him. So yeah, they see that they can get away with it, and they keep talking, cause they know that nobody gonna do nothing to them. I met many people like that online, and despite answering to some of them, I just blacklisted most of them on RUclips and never bothered. Because, why bother about people, who probably has such a big ego that it can't fit in to our earth, if it was a solid structure? Like, seriously, man. Why bother about haters? Heck, I'm sure that those people are not even haters. They just came to troll you on the subject, just to fill their ego and take a nap with happy face, with smile from ear to ear.
As for the Seagal, I personally don't know the man. All I know, I read on the internet. But I never met him, newer talked to him and never walk near him to learn, what kind of a person he is. But, as a guy who loved, and still loves, martial art or action movies, I can say that most of his movies was great. Sure, maybe Seagal was a bad person behind the scenes, maybe not, I don't know. But the fact that most of his movies was great tells me everything that I wanted to hear. Cause, when it comes to people like Seagal, Van Damme, Bruce Lee (R.I.P), Tony Jaa, MJW and others, the only thing that interests me is their art. And by the art I mean movies. But as for the real life, I understand one thing that, we all have our bad sides. And no matter how good you or me are, we all making mistakes and we all gonna answer for them in the end of the road. I'm not a blind religious person, but I believe that, when the end of our road comes, then we will answer for our actions. And so does the people, who talk shit about each other. But life is short, so you have to enjoy the stuff that you like. And as a kid growing up back in the days, I for sure enjoyed Seagal movies. Not all of them were good, but most of them was good for sure.

Bruce Willis's most iconic role of John McClane, was based on the fact that he was an ordinary guy with no extraordinary abilities or training beyond basic police academy. Then in an extraordinary circumstance uses everything he has to barely take down terrorist groups. So him NOT being an action star is the very thing that makes his best role so awesome. If Arnold or Stallone actually took that role the movie would have sucked. And BTW, it's a Christmas movie.

I think, at the time, both Stallone and Schwarzenegger wanted to change their directions and implement some comedy, whereas Willis was already established as a credible actor, given that he was nominated for both the Golden Globes and Emmy (if he hadn't won them already). Never mind the fact that Die Hard also had stellar casting, so that's another contributing factor that made this movie work.

Good on ya for stepping into the lion's den. As an Aikidoka, (Yoshinkan style) I loved Seagal in his early movies and I appreciate and actually understand his martial arts style...It continues to amaze and amuse me that so many do not. As for his movies, Above the Law is still the best and actually I think as a Seagal movie, Under Siege 2 is my 2nd favorite movie of his. Not as a martial arts action movie - Above the Law and Hard to Kill are better in that regard, but just as a movie with good scenes, clever writing and of course, action and Seagal in it, Under Siege 2 is pretty well done. Not long after this, the quality of his movies went downhill quite a bit and some are plain hard to watch.

@@sudacagamer I thought that movie had a lot of good supporting characters with good dialogue. It actually revealed some depth to many more characters than just Seagal's, (most of his other movies are really just about him with little depth to any other character) which is why I think it stands as a movie pretty decently in the action realm.

I got a guy who I don't speak to anymore because he didn't like that I was defending Seagal's ability and the fact that a lot of these accusations and other stories about him I don't believe.(I also have another friend where he's a Michael Jai White fan, and me and him go at it about Seagal all the time when he gets mentioned, but we're still friends, we just don't agree on Seagal lol) Now am I saying all of them aren't true? No. but that hasn't nothing to do with Steven Seagal's ability. He's one of the best Aikido practitioners of our time. And Seagal has tools in many other arts as well, he's not just an Aikido master. He's also a black belt in Karate and trained in Kendo, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, and even has training in Wing Chun. I know this because I personally spoke to someone who told me his ex bodyguard he learned in Wing Chun from him. Now i'm sure he's trained with other guys, but he's a complete Martial Artist. Most of these guys can say what they want, but Seagal would wipe the floor with most of these dudes.
But keep doing what you're doing and keep the positive energy about Seagal Viking. He's earned his stripes from all the years of hard work he put into the arts and how he exposed Aikido to America because before that, nobody knew anything about Aikido.
