Tried this recipe. Seven cups of water was waaaayy too much liquid for the two small bags of pinto beans I used. Wound up with something more akin to a thin, water bean soup than a thick broth that complemented the soft smoothness of the well cooked beans.
Oh wow Sis! Most of my water was soaked up by the beans and the ham hocks. I always us 7 cups with 2lbs of beans and I get the same results. Next time just put enough to cover the beans and then just check them every couple of hours to see if it needs more water. That way you can control the thickness of the beans as you cook them

Yes ma’am no problem 2lbs of beans (your choice) 3 to 5lbs of smoked meat 1 medium onion 3 tablespoons of chicken broth 2 to 3 bay leaves 1 tablespoon of garlic 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke 1 teaspoon salt and pepper (Optional) 7 cups of water
It’s a simple fix for your taste buds omit the salt! The beans were not salty but as you may if you follow me my motto is It’s your kitchen! Do what you want! 😊
