I love live love this video!!!!!! We have a super high wind advisory today with rain on the way. I just received my new quarterdome tarp in the mail last night. Couldn’t have been better timing! I’m about to set up in my yard. Good times!!
I’m extremely happy to have found your channel man. This video, amongst others are very well made. Keep up the great work my friend 👍 you gained a follower. Have a great day!
Hi Kristian, would you think H.tarp 5 would be too small for comfort? My idea for tarp is hiking like you did that day on the mountain and set it up if it’s raining. I have tent Unna and when kayaking it started to rain I had to pitch my tent but I thought it would be faster and more convenient to tie tarp to the tree and sit the rain out. Also it rains into Unna a bit inside too. Thank you
Hi Kris! I guess it depends on how it's used and it what weather. If it's only going to be used solo, and the rain comes more or less straight down, and you don't mind being a bit more limited in space and ways to use it the Tarp 5 might be enough. That said, the Tarp 10 is more flexible. I rarely feel like the tarp is too big. With the larger size I can pitch it higher and have some room underneath it, or if it's windy I can pitch one side close to the ground while still have shelter from the rain above.
I really enjoyed your video. I just love the sound of the rain hitting your tarp. It was very relaxing and looking out over the water was perfect. Thanks 🦅
I guess i am not alone in saying I would love to see more video Kristian. Just the same format is fine by me anyway, hope you are well, and best wishes.
Just your sound quality already deserves a billion likes , what kind of mike do you have on you ….. my dog and I are about to start traveling around Taiwan camping
Perfect with my monring coffee... been out all night on different calls, so this was a true highlight of the day/morning. Why did you dip the tarp in the water? To get the sand off? Thank you once again for an amazing video. so damn pleasing.
Thanks Thomas! 😊🙏🏻 Haha, yes, it was to rinse off the sand. It's the only downside to camping on the beach. I did the same with the poles, pegs and foam pad. Have to dry them indoors when I get home, so removing the sand makes it a lot more pleasant. 😄
@@KristianPletten Haha, i know all about that.. I struggle to get the sand out of my tent for about a year after i have been to one of my favourite spots, Refviksanden. You think you got it all out, but every time you pitch the tent, there is more sand 🤣
Haha, that is so true! Well, it's good to hear I'm not the only one struggling. 😂 I had fine grained sand from Africa in my Staika tent for years after my cycling trip. 🤦🏻♂️ And agreed, Refviksanden is a really nice place! 🙌🏻

Great relaxing video. The beautiful location looks like so many places in Scotland. The sound of the rain was soothing. The sound of your primus made it even better. You've just got one more subscriber to your channel. Cheers mate and greetings from Bonnie Scotland. 👍🏼🇬🇧
Thank you for the kind words! 😊🙏🏻 Would love to visit and hike around Scotland some time. I've heard it might even be more windy than here, which if true is quite an achievement. 😄 Cheers!
You've got good eyes, mate! Yes, it's shot in 4K HQ, and I haven't had any issues with overheating. After the software update the minutes available doesn't seem to drop down at all, at least with my type of shooting. I only shoot outside in a fairly cold climate. I've only managed to make it overheat when I was testing memory cards indoors.
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, it's a beautiful place and I just have to appreciate having a place like this right next to where I live. Hope you still get to enjoy some time outdoors even with the new lockdown.
@@KristianPletten We've enjoyed our freedom this Summer and early Autumn, but I'm afraid it's down to local walks again for at least a few weeks. All the best to you, and stay safe & healthy!
Thank you! The knot is a simple overhand knot, just using a loop instead of the guy line end, just so I don't have to pull the long guy line through the loop. It's not a very secure knot used in this setting, but if you add one or two more knots to it it's secure enough, and easy to get loose again due to the loop making the knot slightly bigger. A good alternative is a bowline knot, or if I didn't have the line runners I would use a taut line hitch which you can use to tighten the guy line.
The gas bottle I used in this video is the Primus 100g version (the smallest one). It's 100 grams of gas, and the canister ways around 100 grams, to about 200 grams in total. The Fire Maple stove connects straight to the gas bottle. The stove has a valve inside it.
@@TomaszSochacki It's a great setup and it doesn't get much lighter than that, but just be aware that it is susceptible to wind. You can get around it by sitting next to the stove, place the stove in shelter of the wind or bring some kind of wind protection for the stove. I haven't felt the need for anything like that yet, but I also have other stoves I use if the conditions are a lot worse. Just a heads up!
@@TomaszSochacki I have both, but mainly use the 0,6l version on the FireMaple-stove, and it's a great size. I use the 0.9l kettle for the bushbox and campfires, but it also works on the FireMaple, it just requires a bit more attention because it can get somewhat unstable.

Thanks! Yeah, tarps are great, and they don't have to be expensive ones either. Pacific Northwest seems like a beautiful place! And you're the first I've seen on RUclips that actually go fishing in that area and not just hike. 👌🏻
I didn't spend the night in this video, though it shouldn't be a problem as most of the water drains through the sand and the sleeping pad is not affected by water. Thanks for watching!
