- We give God our best, our heart, and what He has asked for.
As we know, the heart of religion is worship. But we need to put our hearts into worship. We give God our best, our heart, and what God has asked for. Not because He needs anything, but because it is right and just.

That was a good lesson, something I never thought to ask. Thanks.
This is a wonderful homily. I struggle with this all the time. Trying to explain that church and the mass ain’t about you it’s about God.
Me too. I'm working my way to be a Green Beret. I should be struggling with this. I should honestly be badass and commence on what my heart is open too. And worship the Lord and live in his Way. There should be no hesitation to take action on to where my heart is leading me to.!
@@piosanchez2937 keep moving forward. I got out the army in 2002. Do us all proud and God bless you.
God bless Father Mike. May Our Lady provide him with all the graces necessary for him to fulfill his mission in Life. Amen.
Amen❤
I wish that I could repeat every word of your homily. That would mean 2 things it’s really in my heart and I could share it with everyone so it would be in their heart too
I don’t want to give my leftovers. Please God, guide me to the path of giving you my best.
I spent much of my life in protestant churches and wondered why communion was a cheap add-on to most services. The Liturgy of the catholic church makes the whole service about the offering of the sacrifice. This is a huge difference. Father Mikes points today are so powerful and if my protestant brothers are listening, take to heart what he says. What an amazing homily.
Excuse me, but protestant communion is not a cheap add to a service. It's a time of remembering, as a body, that Jesus gave his body & blood for us. NO more sacrifices are needed. Blessings.
@@carolinajackson7621the Eucharist isn’t a new sacrifice. It’s a re-presentation, through the power of the Holy Spirit, of the one and only sacrifice on cavalry.
The early Church understood Christs Passion and the Lords supper to be intricately connected. Even Martin Luther understood it to be true.
The author of the initial comment most definitely straw-mans Protestantism and I apologize for that. But I know when Protestant Churches see the bread and wine as merely “remembering” in the modern sense, or totally neglecting it at all (my fiance goes to a faith community that doesn’t even have communion), it is perfectly rational for Apostolic Christians to be met with extreme sadness that modern Protestants fail to do what Christ commanded as proper worship - to continue to offer up his Son to God the Father in love and trust. To join our lives in full union with Christ here in this life, and be transformed by his saving grace.
@philliphoyle5848 ..."to CONTINUE TO OFFER UP HIS SON...". Do u realize what u just said???? Christ was offered once and for all! (Hebrews 9, 25). Please, please! Don't add to the Word of God.
@@carolinajackson7621 if seems you don’t understand the definition of continue… would you not agree that Christs one and only sacrifice effects all of time and space? Past present and future?
It’s a logical continuation that this sacrifice continues to have a real effect in our time here and now. Instead of Protestants historically new idea of “simply remembering” Christs Sacrifice. The Early Church vehemently defended the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist… that by the Holy Spirit Jesus words of institution would enact a physical change in the bread and wine he offered at the Last Supper with his disciples.
Thus as faithful Christians, we imitate what the early Church taught and what Jesus commanded, to offer the bread and wine (which Jesus clearly taught us his body and blood) by the power of the Holy Spirit, to God the Father. It is the only pure sacrifice - Jesus is our life and salvation. I trust in him and him alone - not what your tradition of man teaches.
The raw historical data is there: please evaluate what 1500 years of Christianity believed unto death.
It’s odd you would tell me “not to add to to the word of God” … when many Protestants do the same thing. A good example: the only time the Bible says faith alone is “You are not saved by faith alone”.
Please delve into the historicity of the Bible, and the great beauty/sacrifices made so that you’re able to hold a Bible, albeit with missing books. The Catholic and Orthodox Churches intense faith in God, His Church, and the word, are the sole reason we have the scriptures today.
God bless.
@@carolinajackson7621I wrote a well meaning and precise comment in response to you. It has spontaneously deleted? I hope you didn’t report it out of anger and misguidance (not accusing you, just very odd for my comment to be removed)
"Worship is the only possible response to the Source of all being" , That hit me through the soul with a lightning bolt! Beautiful and so so true.
I will listen to this over and over.. May be one of the important homilies/messages that I’ve ever heard. God bless you Fr.Mike and keep you safe. You are truly a blessing to so many. Those kids at UM are lucky to have you.
Gracias por su homilía ❤
Lord helps The Church to respect Women 🙏
Father Mike , Thank you so much !!! Everyone needs to HEAR this , and LISTEN to it over and over again ....
Fr.Mike...Powerful inspiring sermon..The heart of religion is worship God and offer Him the best and what the Lord wants..Thankyou so much...Prayers for you. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you.
I wish I can spend a night in the Holy Sepulcre Church some day! (erm.. night!)
Thank you for putting the pieces together with this insightful sermon. Very significantly rich with wisdom. Heightens my understanding of and appreciation for Eucharistic adoration, the Consecration, and tangible giving at the Offertory. Blessings to you and all.
😊😊😊
Pplpppp
Jesus I love you. All I have is yours. Yours I am and yours I want to be. Do with me whatever you will. Amen
The Holy Catholic Mass is the only form of true and encaged Worship! Thank you God and let us share this with the world! AMEN!!! !
Amen. 🙏🏿
Thanks Fr. Michael for a challenging message.
Worship is God-centered not human-centered, thus the focus is what we give to God as sacrifice not what we get in return.
The Magi gave their best gifts without caring what they would get in return from the infant Jesus. The apostles, disciples and saints through the ages did likewise. We are called to do the same.
For someone who doesn’t get worshipping The Lord at all you could say: has anyone ever done something for you and you wanted to give them something immediately, may be a hug? Now think about God Who has given us everything.
❤thank you Father Mike, amazing Homily!❤️🔥🤗🙏
Great sermon , I needed that. Thank you.
I encourage all Catholics to not let God down, even if some clergy in Rome are sinning. God will punish them eventually. Hang in there, in worship. I wish I could go to that Church in Israel. Jesus is the
BEST friend ever. Go visit Him in Adoration and praying before the Blessed Sacrament in the Altar. You'll be amazed at how He'll work more in your life. ❤
Whata wonderful homily. We ought to worship God as he wants, not as how we want.
The heart of religion & our relationship with God is worship. ❤🙏✝️
And we worship God the way He wants us to worship Him...not however else we want to worship Him. God bless you, Fr. Mike!
Dang Father Mike is telling it straightforward and it hit me so hard. Thank you Father Mike and Ascension team ❤
I thank god for the words he put in your spirit during this mas fr mike it reminds me to make sure no matter what I include during my spiritual routine to always come to God first with my everything 🙏 and to listen instead of jumping to the wanting of my ego
Wow
What a wonderful, meaningful homily. Thank you, Father.
Thank you Fr. Mike, love Bible in a year and catechism in a year
😊🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏😊
Feeling so blessed that
I was the one of many He left the 99 for
Thank you for really clarifying and bringing the purpose of the mass to the forefront. It isn't about us- it is our duty, it right and just that we offer our very best because he has made us worthy through His life, death and resurrection- to serve and worship him. This hit home for me. Thank you Father. I thank God for the richness of my Catholic faith❤
Thanks Father Mike! Your a legend 😊 respect from Australia
Amen and hallelujah! When you hear the truth, you know it.🙏
God doesn't need anything from us even love but he wants our love. God demands our worship. And we owe it
Great start to a new year, Fr. Mike! While this homily may fall into the "Afflict the Comfortable" category, it's a meaty discussion of what we are meant to do during mass! Thank you for these RUclips videos!
Thank you, Father. I attended mass this morning and felt dry. Your words have set me aright. I was missing worship. Now I know to set my heart on worship of holy God.😊
Amen! Many blessings to you Fr. Mike. Love the explanation of the Mass. I don't care how old I am I never stop learning!!!
Wow! Amen! Thank you Fr. Mike for explaining how the sacrifice of the Mass is the ultimate offering to Our Almighty Father! Just wow!
No, the ultimate offering was Jesus on the cross. To say anything else is wrong theology.
Thank you very much Father Mike!!!!!
This was so beautiful to listen too.
I'm a returning Catholic, when we moved away from germany religion was never a big thing anymore.
And your homilies and other clips have helped me tremendously in my journey to return to our Lord.
By the way everyone at Ascension has had a impact in me returning to the Lord.
Thank you all so much and may the Lord bless you all.
Fr. Mike,
Thanks so much for sharing this. You always have thought-provoking homilies, but this was one of your very finest. It is truly right and just.
Rev. Mike, thank you for your teachings! May Our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you!
I've been blessed to become a member of the Catholic Church Community through RCIA. This came about after experiencing Grace, of course. Through our Mother, I found the Son. I'm always asking myself, "How can I possibly give to God what Grace He gave me?" You answered my question. The answer is Worship. Mind, Body, and Spirit. Complete supplication and whole hearted worship. Thank you Fr. Mike.
Fr. Schmitz, you are in my prayers for impregnable spiritual protection as you clearly, constantly and unequivocally speak the Truth. I am mortified as I remember thinking so many of the wrong ways you address about Holy Mass but no one ever challenged me then. You've given me the best words to tell others the Truth!
Another strong homily from Fr Mike! Awesome!
Thank you very much Fr. Mike for this homily. Listen to this many times. ❤
Thank you for such an insightful homily. God bless you and your ministry.

of course the problem with me ver the church is on both sides because I'm just impossible, when I have enough serotonin I'm just socially ridiculous, funny and weird, but when I don't have enough serotonin (which seems to be every time I go off meds) I'm a PTSD freak. My self awareness is zero. Every time I see the least hint of treating me wrong, I start to fight. And ppl in the CZ church have that opinion, that foreigners and converts can be tolerated only if they are super nice and very useful and I'm the quite opposite of that :)
The god say make ur own group,,reform the heaven row color ,,red, brown, green and black ,,
The true point is that Abel gave God what he asked for Cain gave to God what he thought God would want thus from the fruit of his labor since he was a farmer. True worship is giving God that which he asks. Since Cane was older he should have known this since his younger brother Abel did what God asked.
Im loving this homily but I have a question about a comment that I know my christian brothers and sisters would and do say about the Catholic Mass: Jesus sacrificed himself once and for all so why do Catholics do that at every Mass? I dont know how to explain that to them. I would be very pleased if anyone can help me. God bless us all. ❤🙏
The Eucharist is a reminder of what we celebrate on Easter Sunday. His death and resurrection, His covenant to us, being able to show Him worship by emphasizing the greatest thing He has ever done for us ✝️ Fr Mike shares this during one of his talks about the value of the mass (it’s on RUclips)
Respectfully, the Sacrifice of the Mass with the celebration of the Eucharist at its center is much more than a reminder. Jesus sacrifice did happen once and for all…but since our Lord and savior exists outside of time and space, His sacrifice is accesible any time on our own finite time and space, in every Mass celebrated by a properly ordained Catholic priest as a supernatural event. Thus Catholics do not re-sacrifice our Lord at every Mass, but simply access or re join said sacrifice as we open up our hearts to the triumphant Church in heaven just before each Eucharistic celebration.
On RUclips, look up “Catholic Answers Do Catholics re crucify Jesus in every Mass?” For a much clearer explanation.
Hi, everyone! I've been "away" for a year now. Please pray for me. Also, I want to know your thoughts about wearing an "evil eye" talisman. It is quite famous in my country now and my friends told me to wear it to protect me. I'm quite hesitant though. What should I do? Thank you and God bless us all.
God will protect you provided you live your life in a state of grace see psalm 91:1 and Jn10:27-29 and through the power of the sacraments. Wearing a talisman is superstition, a mortal sin against the first commandment, as a result you'll end up under the power of the devil, exactly the opposite of you want to achieve, read 2 Maccabees 12:40-45. For protection rather use sacramentals e.g. wear a crucifix or a St Benedict medal or the Scapular, provided you remain in a state of grace.

'Alright' and im 1 yr old, and your confused, i might just go eith my spirit,
I enjoy listening but talks way too fast. I would like to share with my students but it’s hard to understand because of how fast spoken. 🙏
What I don't understand is what was before Jesus?
You could help God by never being independent and having experienced guidance in real life,
I guess people forgot about it as so many people now do not consider it to be Jesus and think scripture is the way to worship which didn't exists for the first three hundred years of the church. The Eucharist that Jesus Himself told us He wanted reenacted is the only true form of worship. Satan had his way with the protestants. The writings about Jesus became a custom to read over and over when they met for MASS. It was never supposed top be worship[p and the priest was instructed by Jesus to preach which they did. After the bible was printed there because 100,000 different interpretations of it. I liken the Eucharist to God coming in forms of wind, doves and burning bush and people grasp it more easily when you remind them of the miracle they hold in front of them. It is a miracle just like God lighting flames upon the heads of the apostles.
Oh my birthday is on Nov 4th lol
If you knew god was here, why would you do this?
Excuse father,
May you speak a little slowly? Thank you father
Try changing playback speed in settings to 0.75x. Then, I can better absorb the thoughts. I can't listen as fast as his normal speaking speed
The ultimate sacrifice is calvary. Anything else is wrong theology. We CANNOT offer Christ once and agsin..He offered himself once & for all (Hebrews 9, 25). Blessings
You obviously don't understand either the Scriptures or what the Church has always taught. Instead of quoting Heb9:25 out of context, why didn't you quote
1Cor11:24-25 where Jesus asks believers to eat his body and drink his blood, and according to 1Cor11:26 any time we do that we commemorate the Lord's death on the cross. That's why true worship of God has always been rendered through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, where we appropriate the graces that come from the once and for all sacrifice of Jesus, Jn6:53-56.
Your theology rather is damnable heresy, entirely made up by a german monk in the 16th century (according to lutheran scholars he had his "inspiration" while literally sittiong on the toilet) , a new gospel contrary to what all apostolic churches had always taught, which places all who follow that nonsense directly under the curse of Gal1:8.
@ElishaD-rb8pv exactly! In communion, we REMEMBER what Jesus did for us on the cross, we DO NOT offer him agsin. (More later,) and Hebrews is not quoted out of context. Btw, my theology comes ONLY from the Word of God. Your theology is a mixture of many things, some of which are not right doctrine.. Blessings. I will finish my answer later. Can't now.
@@ElishaD-rb8pv show me WITH THE WORD OF GOD that Jesus needs to be offered once and again.
@ElishaD-rb8pv ...we don't appropriate any graces through the Mass but through the Holy Spirit.
@ElishaD-rb8pv True Christianity does NOT depend on Martin Luther or any other reformer; it depends on 1. Scripture, 2. The Holy Spirit. Everything else is fallible. Blessings
Uh hu Uh huh Uh huh
The "heart of religion" has NOTHING to do with wearing COSTUME ROBES friar tuck!
