I think it's a really good point how someone can be that messy but still recognize when someone's being abusive. Lots of people don't understand ending up in a situation like that doesn't come from not being educated in general. Not a single person is immune to getting taken advantage of. It's something you'd have to know how to spot, usually through experience

Panty and Stocking with Garter belt is an acquired taste. The humor is something that some people enjoy and some people will not.
I, personally, enjoy this show and its humor for what it is.
I like most of the humor until it gets racist at least in the dub that i watched a lot esp as a kid, then im like oop nope
I know panty and stocking was inspired by adult American cartoons like South park but without actually understanding the American satire. Most of the time it comes off as a less corny and try hard version of helluva boss with the humor. I still prefer panty and stocking tho. Its not a hidden jem by any means.
it was always just kind of mediocre with the humor even when it came out.I think its ok to admit something you enjoy isn't top notch.I really love the artsyle, soundtrack, voice acting and outfits.The animation was really good too in the episodes where they had budget (unlike the beach episode💀). It still has more effort put into it then most Adult American animated shows.

I do agree that the show does have potential. If I recall correctly, the show was apparently conceptualized to be in the same vein of like Drawn Together and other similar media according to the creators, which immediately explains a lot lmao- explains it but doesn't excuse it such as Garterbelt's design as one example... But both episodes you mentioned, the subject of this video & Panty's arc with losing her powers, are my favorite episodes to this day for the same reasons you mentioned. Since there is gonna be a 2nd season now for real, I'm hoping that more of that potential and its strengths comes out in the new episodes. Since nothing has been revealed about the plot though, I don't know what to expect but knowing the potential it has and the studio it's coming from, they can do a lot with season 2. It feels like the conclusion of Panty's arc was crafted pretty well and I'm glad it took center stage at the end.
Drawn Together, South Park, and Panty & Stocking are unhinged masterpieces, and I love them for that 😂. They're shows that are not for the weak at heart. I really can't wait till Panty & Stocking returns. I watched the show back in 2021 and fell in love with it.
The reason PSG didn't get a season 2 earlier was because Gainax had properties to it and the studio disbanded. Studio Trigger got the license for it back so now they can do another season

I’ve always really liked this episode a lot, it’s honestly my personal favorite. As much as I do enjoy Panty & Stocking, mainly for the art style, music, fashion, etc, like what was mentioned in the video, one of my biggest gripes with the show is the lack of wanting to explore the characters themselves more and their dynamics with each other.
I do enjoy the characters in this show, some over others, obviously, but I always thought there was potential here story-wise that the people in charge of the show didn’t want to do, mainly so they could just focus on the crudeness of the situations and humor.
I feel this episode was a taste into something that’s at least somewhat more narrative driven which I love. I get that the show is a comedy focused one and that’s it’s purpose, but I think the show would have been even better if their was a better balance between humor and story. I wanna know more about these characters. They would hint at some overarching stuff but it would rarely go anywhere in my opinion. Hoping that maybe season 2 experiments a bit more with this, similar to how this episode did, while also not losing the shows original comedic identity.

I used to be a fan of Hiroyuki Imaishi but as i became more aware of how sexualized the women and commonly minors were in all his works, the harder it was to believe that any of it was a "commentary". It's just self aware but it still participates in the problem, it actually glorifies it imo.
I vaguely remember the episode you're talking about and its good that Panty recognized that Stocking was being mistreated but i also felt like Stocking's love for the ghost was supposed to be seen as admirable for "looking past his grossness and crappy personality".

Its kinda dumb we cant even like PSG with out being called "Problematic". Without the stupid lip decision for Garterbelt, its good.
Garterbelts lip is probably the least problematic thing in the show, I'd say more so him having a white VA is the issue.
If you want my advice, just ignore people and enjoy the media you like, it's meant to be an offensive anime, that's the entire point, just don't become one of those weirdo "anti-woke" people.

There was a few interesting points in the plot and I am hoping they fix up Garterbelt or just outright purge him cuz DAMN that's the most stereotypical racist BS i've seen and i didn't even realize it as a teen.
I really loved this show when i was like 8-12. If I watched it nowadays I probably wouldn't though, it has some merits but overall it is actually a gross show.
Yeah, I think some of the ideas were pretty good even if implemented poorly or awkwardly; it had a chance to tell some very heartfelt or at least reasonably intelligent stories while being funny and subversive. I was older but apparently I wasn't mature enough to understand this particular episode as well (and/or otherwise had those same incorrect assumptions) regarding the women who land in such relationships (though usually they start out better and then things get bad I think.) But yeah the issues ran pretty deep so as a franchise it's very hit or miss. I still haven't watched the new season because I dunno if it'd hit me right (I think also just the timing of when you watch the OG definitely matters since it's so polarizing) and I got the impression the new series focuses on Brief or whatever his name is? And I could be wrong about that but the show is about the angel sisters soooo... ehhh. I could be wrong though lol I'm at a point where I have enough shows to catch up on/finish watching I don't really need another one rn.
