    So many of you wanted to see the F-15EX in action here it is, a very difficult opponent with all those missiles, but this is what I love about Peer to Peer engagements, everything is even and the challenge is in creating a slight edge for yourself. Thank you guys for watching, and I'll see you in the next one, much Love.

    22 AMRAAMs. The F-15's BVR capabilities, especially now with the X variant is unmatched. The idea is that an F-35 will spot targets ahead of the 15's, relay the data to them through a data link, and a couple 15's can launch 44 AMRAAMs with only two aircraft before having ever been detected. The old problem is that the F-15's radar is 50 miles, but the AMRAAM has 86 nautical mile range (98.9 miles), but now that the F-35 can extend that range, beating every enemy radar, there's no possible way, barring pre-warning from ground or intelligence assets, that they could be detected by enemy air.

    If you're already on the deck (that is, you are already in the densest air possible), and you suspect a missile is close, what would happen if you climbed vertically? Would a nearly spent missile be able to follow? Although the air thins as you climb, a nearly spent missile will certainly decelerate due to gravity. The questions are: Would gravity sap it of its remaining kinetic energy more quickly than air resistance on the deck? Or would the thinning air cancel out any energy loss to gravity?

    • @GrapeFlavoredAntifreeze
      @GrapeFlavoredAntifreeze 2 года назад +13

      Highly doubt you’re ever going to kinetically defeat a 4th Gen + missile on the deck with a vertical pull

    • @rashadarbab2769
      @rashadarbab2769 2 года назад +6

      gravity never stopped when its on the deck its not pointing horizontal its pointing slightly up so as it gets lower to the ground it climbs slightly to remain level. also if you go vertical in planes you decelerate because you are fighting gravity with your engines since your wings generate no lift so the advantage should go to the missile.

    • @Skyfighter64
      @Skyfighter64 2 года назад +10

      I suspect that if you are in the MAR, then the rocket motors aren't spent in the missiles yet. Going vertical will probably result in the missile accelerating in the vertical faster than you do.
      Outside of the MAR, at low altitude, I don't know for sure.
      One other aspect of going vertical on a Radar guided missile: The ground can help confuse said missiles, even with modern Pulse-Doppler systems, also the ground provides an obstacle that the missile can hit. Going vertical means the missile will have an easier time guiding itself to you.

    Wonder how development is going with BVR missiles having multiple seekers is going, I'm tempted to know how more deadly if something like an AMRAAM could have a IR/UV/Optical sensor to negate notching. I've heard of USAF testing an IR guided AMRAAM and that shit gets me pumped.

    • @davispeterson1876
      @davispeterson1876 2 года назад +5

      It has less to do with notching (I'm pretty sure modern signal processing has pretty much already solved that issue, but don't quote me on that) than it does stealth aircraft.
      Detecting a stealth aircraft is (relatively) simple, the challenge is getting a solid enough lock to guide a missile, since the best way to detect them is to use a lower frequency radar, which inherently gives worse image resolution.
      My best guess as to the purpose of the IR AMRAAM is that the launch aircraft will guide it into the general vicinity of the target via datalink, then it will use it's terminal IR homing for the final engagement, negating the need for a strong radar lock.

    rly good video GS! I have several questions:
    * what are the differences between the r77-1 and the r27EA? why did you use 2 differents fox3 ? especially when you use only the r77-1 on the vidéo.
    * I couldn't find any ranges in the hud of your plane and i found rly weird to not have any ranges displayed on the hud (maybe it is displayed on the hud but i couldn't find it).Because in other videos when you are in NATO fighters you can find the distance between you hand the bandits displayed on the radar /hud , it always seems to show you the ranges of the bandits so you Can know the MAR.
    *The symbology on the HUD seems weird when you locked and fire the first missile

      @avi8aviate 2 года назад

      I'm not GS, so I can't answer all of your questions. However, the difference between the R-77 and R-27 is simple. The R-27 is a much older missile and simply isn't as good as the R-77, although it does have its uses. It's a bit like the AIM-7 Sparrow and the AIM-120 AMRAAM, except that the AIM-7 never had an active radar-guided variant.

    "I'm in danger." GS says in small voice. As soon as you take off you are in an emergency. single piloted, on fire, and low on gas.

    The tac view was a very helpful example of why you drop your altitude in defending cause that chaff set and cold was perfect but missile still had energy.
    Took me a while to understand that concept in action.

  • @wgaswyt

    You have to give some props to the russian flight as an underdog with less missiles to push back and still got the draw. Another great vid. "Big Sad" for those F-15s though.
