'Little Women (1994)' is a coming-of-age historical drama about a girl named Jo, who struggles for independence, and make her three sisters and beloved mother understand her ways. She has to also contend with their cranky Aunt March, neighbour Laurie and linguistics professor Friedrich Bhaer.
Directed by Gillian Armstrong, the film stars Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Gabriel Bryne, Trini Alvarado, Samantha Matis, Claire Danes, Christian Bale, Eric Stoltz and Mary Wickes. The story is based on a two volume novel with the same title which was written between 1868-69, and the screenplay was written by Robin Swicord.
Trivia: The film received critical acclaim, and three Academy award nominations, each for Best Actress (Winona Ryder), Best Costume Design and Best Original Score.
