Twelve years later, it FINALLY occurred to me that I am an adult and I can finally buy my OWN Wii and FINALLY live out my middle school dreams of modding and playing MKWii online like I saw people doing on RUclips (since my bro and I weren't allowed to do any online stuff on our Wii when we were younger). I never had a Wii growing up and my brother gifted me one for Christmas last year! I missed my 3ds a couple months ago and it took me a couple months to realize I can do the same thing with my Wii! I'm so excited

I remember when I modded my Wii, the hardest part was the cIOS installation, as I couldn't find any good resources on how to properly do it. This video is gonna be a life saver for those who haven't modded their wii's yet.
Before the shop closed down you used to be able to just grab the CIOS stuff online through the app itself.

Hey, So quick question, a couple years ago we did the original home brew, well I chimed in and checked out RUclips for back up support. Anyways, I just found it (Had the Switch, miss it..whole other story) and plugged it up and Home brew is on there. I see games on the console memory, and nothing on the homebrew screen...Tried to do the letter bomb thought it was an up date??? IT isn't my forte. That didn't work. I turned it off. Should I just start all over? What would one go about doing that if she isn't looking for anything crazy? Just a little old school Zelda, Mario, you know the classics. Thanks. Side note I have already watched 40ish videos, and yours was very well structured and organized in a singular direction. I hope that's okay asking your opinion on this topic.. Thanks again. JessC
a bit winded of a tutorial, but hey it works! got a near mint wii from goodwill for 50$. And now its priceless.
So when im doing the bootmii during the block part it freezes at like half ways idk if just processing or what
have finished the entire process and now my Europe Wii is able to identify US game disk. However the screen goes blank after i select start. Is there anything else that needs to be done
is there a good way or program to get the CIOS wads on a mac? Edit: the cIOS website had an option for a script to run if you're not on windows so im going to attempt to use that.
Thanks I got it to work I had to buy a Microsoft surface laptop and SD card adapter for it though. Thank god for amazons return policy

I just completed "Install bootmii as boot2", then my remote decided to switch to player 2. I rebooted, tried again, and still the remote goes go player 2. I powered on 3 other remotes so one if them was forced to be player 1, but still not able to hit "continue".

This guide is amazing and simple to follow and I am able to play Japanese GameCube games that i own now. Still having issues playing the PAL versions of games i own so wondering how to fix that or if anyone knows what to do.
My NUSD didn't have a 4123, just a c4890, v5405, v5661, and v5662. Would the 4890 work in my case?

hi thanks for the upload.. does 4.2u work? or do i need to update? also how would i update to exactly 4.3? is that just the latest version or will i pass that version by updating?
You should just be able to connect the console to the internet and it should perform a system update.
If not, I believe the letter bomb site will let you choose. 4.2 instead of 4.3
I had a problem installing brick protection and bootmii as ios? it’s keeps saying failed -1, any tips? On pretty much everything I do it says cannot “ mount “
Do you also know how to reinstall homebrew and bootmii? Because my SD card died and I had to get a new one.
when i download stuff from the homebre browser and i go back to the homebrew channel it doesnt appear and when i go back to the browser and go to my downloads it doesnt show what i just downloaded
I modded my Wii a while ago I have found that when playing some of the games the Wii screen exceeds my television screen usually the bottom is cut off is there some way to fix this Thanks Peter

ever since i started modding wiis with the cios "beta1" ive had trouble with it reading (known working) hdd from usb for both wii flow and usbloader gx. reads games from sd card no issues, so the apps work but i just cant get it to boot up a wii game from usb. side note i have an older wii with the beta52 older cios and that same drive will read on that one. any chance you can direct me on what might be the issue

Does the SD card have to be formatted to FAT32? Would formatting as exFAT work? I don't have FAT32 as an option since I have a 116GB SD card.
It needs to be fat32. For SD cards over 32gb you can use a tool called "Fat32 format GUI" to format bigger cards to fat32

Hey, so do you have any ideas on how to use the NUSD-MOD-NUS-Fix on Mac? it keeps saying that it only works on Windows, and I can't find any videos on how I can get the wad files for mac.

If you're using a USB drive, then use an HDD instead. If your using HDD already then try a different HDD
it isn't showing the little tab by the IOS so that I can select one? I have the same version as you
There is also a zip file called load priiloader. Do I need that as well?
10:16 when I try to install either BootMii (boot2 or IOS) it fails. It reads FAILED (-1). Any ideas for that?

Everytime I click the letterbomb letter in the message board my wii appears to freeze, is this not supposed to happen or is it normal and I should just let it load/process.
As someone who likes to understand what I'm doing before doing it. I was wondering why these four specific IOS/WAD files are needed? Since there seem to be a lot of versions in the NUS tool. Without any prior knowledge it seems to be quite the gamble what needs to be done there. :-)
The wad files manually install the needed files for the CIOS installer which let's you play games from an HDD
All the different stuff you see in the NUS tool are for different versions and regions of the wii

what are you using to extract them? it looks like a separate app as i dont have that option on my pc

I was doing great back to stock wii 4.3 followed all steps when I tried to install priiloader it failed,now just have a black screen do you think its bricked?

Are the Wad files from the Nus program really necessary? I don't i have a pc i downloaded everything else with my phone. Could i continue doing everything else without those files?
If you don't ever plan on using games from an HDD then no you don't need to

Usb and hdd are the same. So yes you'll need to do it for that. You should be doing it anyways

I should mention that if your doing a restore, please seek out some help, even something as simple as a power flicker could brick your wii
Hi there, question. I followed all your instructions, everything went smoothly, but at the end, I only had d2x cIOS Installer. No Homebrew browser and no priiloader. What did possibly go wrong?
Your programs are not in the correct location on the SD card OR your SD card is either bad or has the lock switch turned on

Make sure the date and time and language is set correctly for your console
When you're on the letter bomb website, make sure you're selecting the correct region for your console at the top of the web page before entering your Mac address.
@@BelowAverageGaming Thanks so much for your reply! I have the date and time set to the current date and time, and selected my 4.3u version and entered my mac address and still does not show the homebrew browser in the homebrew app. I do still have to priiloader and d2xcios loaders showing.
Are the Homebrew browser files in your apps folder on the SD card?
It should be in the same spot as the others

I hired an artist by the name of "rachid loft" to custom make the background for me
I have my wii already modded but i wont to kinda reset my sd card what setups would you recommended to reset it to on a fresh sd card
That depends how modified your system is. If you have a custom theme and wads installed I wouldn't recommend deleting anything.

This all works for me untill I exit to the homebro channel I get bubbles and it says homebrew channel but nothing happens its nit froze the bubbles move and I can see the pointer on the screen but it goes noplace
I have a pal system. When I play a 32x rom the bottom of the screen is missing and the controls are off like they are on turbo mode. Tried to turn off with no luck. Games are unplayable because of this. Can you help?
Is it a good idea to update the 4 iOSes? I soft modded mine many years ago. Getting some error pages now when trying to load games...

My brother added the Homebrew channel to my wii years ago and I want to add new games to it. How would I go about doing this? I have a chromebook and issues connecting my wii to the internet, but I do have 2 SD cards to use.
If I'm being honest with you, although it can be done, doing this with Chromebook is kind of doodoo lol I wouldn't be able to help you much on individual settings, but the file structures and everything on the SD card should be exactly the same
What kind of games are you looking to add? Retro games? Are you looking for emulators? Or are you trying to play Wii games?
@@BelowAverageGaming I was hoping to add some Gamecube and Dreamcast games. My brother added SNES and GameBoy emulators already. I'm hoping that already having the channel will make things a little easier?

Does it have to format to fat32 or does exfat work? It diesnt give me the option for fat32.
It needs to be fat32, if it won't let you it's because your SD card is over 32gb most likely.

So... I did everything up until 15:52, but after my console established a connection to the server, it appears to be stuck "Requesting repositories list..." It's been sitting there for several minutes. Any idea what could be going on?
Most likely just a bad connection. Turn off the console and try again a few times until it loads.

So everything went absolutely perfect until about 15:45 when he goes to the homebrew browser. It’s just not on my screen… idk what to do from here… edit I just went back on the website because it’s a little different now. Turns out you also have to download the binary which is a separate download and put that in the homebrew folder
Hello there, when trying to install Bootmii I get the "Mounting SD card Error (-1).
I got a 32 gb MicroSD card which I've formatted in Fat32. Any help with this would be appreciated.
That's most likely still a formatting issue.
I would try a different SD card, preferably not micro although they do work. Make sure you're plugging it in directly into the Wii and not using an adapter.
And maybe try using a formatting tool like "fat32 format GUI" to format the card for you

Please advise me on my noobness /\......Im about to attempt to follow this guide using my HP chromebook 14 with chrome os. I noticed NUS downloader is a .exe . My question is, what is this used for and will it work on my chromebook since it is a exe file?
You have to do a work around to run the EXE on chromebook. I don't use chromebook so I can't really advise you past that

@@BelowAverageGaming thank you for responding. I moded a wii that I have like 10 years ago and I was using usb loader gx and also had a windows laptop. It's been so long that I forgot how I did it. So if I follow ur guide and just skip the nus downloader part of it, will I still end up with a modded wii that won't have an app to play backup games from? Or is it required in order for all of this to work?
It's only required to play games off of a hard drive. If you don't need that feature then you should be fine
Things went well untill I had to run BOOTMII. I get a black screen. I started the process all over again, checking Letterbomb OS version and region, all seems fine. Whats next?
I fixed that by running the Install BOOTMII as IOS, during the Letterbomb stage.

The cios wads? Yes you can delete them and the text file

Delete everything, uninstall all wads if any. Then update the system and follow this guide

When I'm at the bootmii thing, it says install as an iOS. I did twice but it still says download as iOS. Should I restart my Wii? I'm too scared if I might brick it.

I'm not sure if you check these, but I need help. Everything worked fine, but I couldn't download bootmii, not even as an ios. I checked, it turned out my SD card was locked, i unlocked it, turned off my wii, then I reformated my SD card. I put it back into the wii after getting the files back, and now I can't open letter bomb or download anything else, I just have an empty homebrew channel
If it was locked then there was no need to reformat. Sounds like it could be your SD card altogether. Have you tried a new one?

I would just reformat the car to fat 32 again and start the tutorial over from scratch if you didn't get far. Make sure it's unlocked from the start and see what happens

does my internet being wireless or wired make a difference in loading any of the apps?
i was originally gonna just use the internet to update my wii but then manually download my games into the sd card
It doesn't make a difference, you only need internet for internet-based apps

although it said miiboot wasn't supported i was still able to download it.

Is it possible to do this on a mac?
BootMii says it can be installed on my console yet when actually trying to install BootMii it comes up saying "Mounting SD Card Failed (-1)", that's on both boot2 and IOS options, any fixes? can't find anything online.
Bad SD card or not formatted properly
Format your SD card again or try a new SD and see if that helps

My emulators aren't showing up in Homebrew Channel
What does the error say?
The homebrew browser is an internet connected service. It could be the servers are down on there end or it could be your connection to the internet.
I have gotten fails before but they usually let me in after trying it a few times
@user-yn1bn2eo7g You lost me. You said you had an error getting into the homebrew browser but if you downloaded the emulator that means it worked?
