It's such a treat to play along with you! You did a great job as always with perfectly written chord placements and making the tutorial fun :) My Irish Grandmother liked my little performance lol Thank you!
Hey Rebecca! So glad you (and your grandmother!) enjoyed the song/video! Thanks so much for your kind words!! Kelly
Kelly, I really enjoy Irish Music. Dubliners, Planxty, Clancy Bros etc. Whiskey in the Jar ounded great on your new Duke Banjolele. Barney McKenna late of the Dubliners was good on the Banjo too. I taught myself the Irish Whistle but with Covid, my significant other was working from home. A bit too loud thus I took up the Ukulele. Just before Bernard Overton died he made and sent me a Low D Irish Whistle. I will treasure that always. My late Dad his birthday was St Paddy's Day. Memories.
Lots of great music came from those artists for sure. I also love Irish music and play a little tin whistle. I like the sound of it on the banjo uke too!
Good to take out the banjolele again. This is a really fun song with foot tapping rhythm and great lyrics. I like it a lot. A big thank you, Kelly.
Thanks Mike!! I really enjoy playing this one too!! Appreciated!
Love the video Kelly great tune to learn ….. greetings from Ireland ☘️
Hey Joan! Thanks so much!! So pleased you enjoyed it! 🇨🇦
What a Paddy’s day treat! I never even looked up how to play this because it sounded too complicated. I’ll definitely be practicing this one to add to my Irish repertoire. 😎☘️
Glad to hear it Lucy!! It's a fun old tune!!
Keep up those nice tutorials. I am a ukulele player and enjoy your tutorials and now trying to learn the mandolin but I like the banjolele sound. Great to see fantastic tutorials like yours if I decide one day soon to take a crack at the banjolele
Thanks Anton!! Much appreciated! Kelly
I use the Cowboy strum on this song and several others.

I think it sounds good. I am not up to your advanced strums
Paintbrush, Sledhammer, etc
Yes this song is fun to play
Hey Phyllis! Glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely an old favourite of mine!
Sounds nice on that fab Duke Banjoele !!
Thanks Bonnie! The DUKE has that nice mellow tone that really works.
Thanks for the great videos.
I practice the "sledge hammer" but when I use my thumb on the way up, some become very hard and clear, while others are almost silent. Tips to make everyone equally strong or weak if you want?

Hi Bjorn! Have a look at the LIVE Event jam tutorial from a couple of weeks ago. In that I go through all of the strums one after the other and show a couple of tips, techniques and exercises to help out. There are time stamps at the bottom of the video if you want to go direct to Paint Brush, Sledgehammer etc. Starting off by using just the thumb (and skipping the finger part in the middle will help what you're working on). Following is a link to that video ruclips.net/video/eU4heoIfmKw/видео.htmlsi=sDXoR9pZFXYuIs7I Have Fun!! Kelly
Hi Kelly I am trying to understand how many fingers you are using besides thumb. Is it one or two fingers plus thumb? And are you strumming with finger nails or just fingers. I can't tell by sound.
Hi Bruce! Normally I use just my thumb and my forefinger. If I'm strumming down with my forefinger I'm using my nail. If (in bluegrass or double strum) I'm strumming up with my finger, it's the fleshy part.
@@fourstringstrummer Hi Kelly, I wish you did one with the camera aimed along the strings under your hand. We would not see you, but we could see what your fingers are doing by pointing the camera down from the top of Ukulele to your show under your fingers. I hope this makes sense because I have difficulty explaining things during my Alzheimer;s disease days. I could take a picture and show it here if I could post it. But it can't be posted here. Could I email it to you?
@@canadacalling6892 hey Bruce! I know exactly what you mean and I'm trying to come up with a solution that works. In my latest video today I tried a new technique where I zoomed in more on the instrument during the instruction of the chord melody/instrumental part. I'm trying to make my hand more visible that way. Check that one out (Wildwood Flower) and you'll see what I mean.
