Og my gosh! That little hand sneaking up on the chocolate was just too stinkin precious!
I saw that too 😂🤭 so cute
You can even see in the video how the kids love yo help. The smile on her daughters face when she tight her apron
I shop in thrift stores not because I have to, but because I like too!
It's the first place my daughter of bg (twins)3 boys and 1 girl and for herself would go for clothes. Look for new tags!! Yep brands usually do make a diff in longevity of an item..love the S and A..as we call it!
You truly are a modern day Little House on the Prairie woman! Your family is so blessed to have you as a mother and a wife. It is so evident that you want your home to be beautiful and cozy. I hope each and every day, you give each of your children a giant hug and kiss and tell them how much you love them. They will be growing up SO fast and out the door they will be. Treasure these times even though they must be a ton of work. You handle it SO well. You may not want to share each of your children on a video, but I would love it sometime if you talked about each one of your children and their personalities. How wonderful that you have 5 boys and 2 girls....what a blessing!! God has entrusted you with His children and you are no doubt pleasing God to the fullest. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and home!!
My thoughts on the mud room, make some lockers for everyone. You could maybe find old lockers at a school.
You are amazing. I love watching you cook. You make it look so easy. Your videos are very relaxing to watch.
I have fallen in love with your channel. I am on a urban homestead" journey and trying to be a "from scratch" mom. Your channel is so inspiring Thank you
I love all your little flower arrangements 🥰
Thank you! 😊
It makes my heart so happy seeing Jack jack is allowed inside 🥰
I love the cottage core vibes of your daughters dress. With the apron. Absoluetly adorable. She is so lovely😊
I love them Aran stitcheswhen I was a little girl my Mum used to hand knit jumpers and cardigans for an Irish company she was brilliant
These looks INCREDIBLE
We learned from our podiatrist that you should never purchase used shoes or past shoes down from one child to another or two share shoes. It can cause major foot issues over time because shoes form to the way the wearer walks.
I know this is old but had to comment, when my daughters were little (now mostly grown young ladies) they loved to wear dresses, my youngest wouldn’t wear pants at all, and I would buy them all kinds of dresses at thrift stores and yard sales, and people would always say I can’t believe you are letting them ruin that nice dress, but it was just their everyday wear, and if it got muddy or grass stained it was fine because I had probably only paid a couple of dollars for it 😊. This brought back fun memories ❤
I actually do think it’s super common to find Polo or nicer stuff for boys while out thrifting. I think it’s because most people don’t put that stuff on their kids that much so it just winds up getting donated. It’s actually usually harder to find athletic pants and the stuff most people dress their kids in because it probably gets worn out. Everyone saves the nice stuff for special occasions so if barely gets worn.
Congratulations on 400,000 subscribers!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Lisa.I once was very busy like enjoying life.all the way now the nest is empty except our Special needs son of which he is great company. And of course my dear husband
Now I just love watching you Lisa doing a great job
hey girl- loved the video!😀😉 God has blessed you richly.
Yes he has🤍 thanks for watching!
Adorable in your hat and apron! I collect aprons.
Oh my! Wowee😊
We have tall cubbies built for each child. Hooks and boots in their own section.
This would be ideal. Like at preschool. Coats, hats, gloves and boots go there, nicer shoes in room. Even a sock sack would work there. Your hubby could build these or IKEA has them.
I enjoy your videos so much I watched this one twice in a row!
WE only shop thrift stores and we find fabulous clothes for our whole family. We also homeschool and homestead and I like them to look nice.
Just stopping by to say I love your videos! Thanks for helpful, kind, authentic content :)
Fall is SO refreshing!!! Thanks for sharing more of this season!
Lisa! I’ve been watching your videos every single day and made my first sourdough loaf last week with my very own starter 😭 I even got new cast iron skillets from costco to add to the one we already have because you’ve opened my eyes to how amazing they are lol you’re changing my life girl.
I am feeling the same over here. I got my very rusty cast iron out of the garage and seasoned it by her videos and today made my first perfect sourdough bread. I though in the past i made good sourdough breads lol
Shoes are always a struggle 😂 I get 1specific detailed kid to organize all the shoes quickly before dinner and it works for us
Just made it their chore😊
When Lisa says “cozy” I know there are good things to come! 🥰 Those chocolate rolls look amazing! That little hand sneaking a piece of chocolate was too cute! I love how the kids hang out in the kitchen with mom. You’re so blessed! I used to volunteer at a resale store and was in charge of the children’s area. People donated so many nice pieces and we couldn’t put them out fast enough! So glad that you took advantage of those bargains! Thank you for another great episode! 🍁💕🫶🏻
I miss boys clothes! My kids are the opposite- my littles are all girls. I miss the simplicity of the options available for boys. It was always so easy to find nice quality classic pieces. And they do look so cute in those sweaters!
I just love the look of your pizzas. Yum! Take care and be blessed.
In Colorado you never pack anything away. It has snowed on me in June and it has been 85 degrees in December
We live in snow country, too and I've bought boot mats and put them in the garage leading in to our basement. We can line up about 4 - 5 pairs of snowy boots in there and they have somewhere to de-thaw and not get all over the place. They actually stay fairly neat, I think it's because they are lined up on the floor...... this has worked for us! Maybe if you lined up ( in the winter ) a few of those plastic boot mats on the floor of your mud room, that would give more room for other shoes and be aesthetically pleasing to you? : )
Is there anything you can’t do? 👏🏻
I shop at a thrift store close to me for my every day clothes. I find brand name tops that are like brand new and much better quality and better price than Walmart or target. And because the price is so low I don’t get upset if I stain them. They have beautiful childrens clothes too. My children are all grown but I did buy their in the past for them. Again really good brands and very good quality. You do have to look through things that everything is perfect but it’s worth it
I’m in Alaska so we don’t have a lot of options for clothes. We have a second hand kids store here called once upon a child. I’ve found some nice brand/quality clothing there for my boys for cheap.
I went from buying mostly thrifted items for my kids to mostly new from Target now that I have 6 kids. Our thrift stores rarely have items in great condition, and the prices have gone up so much the last few years it didn't make sense to buy clothes there most of the time. Our stores often have items with stains and holes, still marked 2 bucks. Worn out shoes for 5 bucks. This year I realized I was losing money. I was buying things "just in case" because "they might need this next winter" or whatever instead of what we needed at this moment in time. And I wasn't keeping a good inventory of what the kids already had so we ended up with many doubles. Then we ended up not using or needing too much of it, and I was overwhelmed by clothes. This year I realized Target's sales are so good and frequent, I just put what I need in a wish list and wait for it to go on sale to buy it. Plus, if the clothes don't hold up properly, they can be returned months after. Returns are so easy. I love thrift stores, just not for kids clothes or shoes anymore. 😆
Hand-me-downs help the clothing necessities considerably. The last fresh garden flowers make one so happy and so sad.
I am making a much loved second batch of ET sourdough bagels!
Same boat. 2 girls, 5 boys. I think I was thinking it would be so random and I’d have to make too many stops. I went to one Goodwill and got each boy 1 pair of nice play jeans, one pair sweats and one play shirt. I actually found 2 of them newer nice jeans and ran to Marshall’s for the older two a nice pair of jeans and them each 2 nicer shirts. I have a new strategy this year and am hanging everything. We will see.
I like keeping the every day type by the door and the outfit shoes for my girls in their room.
We have 6 kiddos. I hear you on what a chore this is! We thirft a lot but if I can't find it first look, I buy it new. I collect Bog boots in black! They last so well and are warm and waterproof.
I just love watching your videos. I am amazed at all that you accomplish. You are a truly wonderful mother. 😍
Oh my!!! You're killin me! 😳 Love that little chocolate 🍫 thief! BTW I semi used your sourdough cinnamon rolls and they are delish!!! 😋
Lisa have you heard of Pat Pat ? It's children's clothing and very inexpensive but good quality. Another great vlog !! 🤎💛🧡🎃
Once upon a child has been great so far. When my baby outgrew his newborn clothes. I had some stuff in 0-3 but went there to see if I could fill in the gaps. I found $200 worth of baby clothes for $30. Some of the clothes I picked up had a tag on them still.
The kids clothes and changing them around for the seasons is so much work!!!
Those chocolate rolls looked so so good!!! Loved this video and your clothes strategy. Our local thrift stores has tons of kids clothes. My DIL had a list when she was pregnant with our first grandchild and she was so surprised that we found almost everything on her baby list at the thrift stores for a fraction of the cost. I don't buy myself anything but underware and socks new the rest is all thrifted and I have better quality brands and nicer clothes than I have ever had!
I love watching you in the kitchen….you make it all look so easy….just throw this and that together and it comes out delicious looking!!! Actually….since I discovered you as a guest on Homesteading Family, I’ve enjoyed binge watching your videos🥰 Keep them coming👍
Love the fall! You are doing such a great job keeping very thing organized with a large family. I love how you keep it simple for your own sanity 🤗👍
A thrift store alternative if you like online shopping is Mercari, they have TONS of kids clothes and nice brands for decent prices, and your getting them from other mamas! 😊 it’s great for me since I just have one baby right now lol. Not sure how it would work for lots of kids!
The flowers turned out beautifully
Absolutely love the flowers. I have a lot of them myself. I to dread the cold weather when they die. They do bloom again in the spring.
My old farmhouse has no closets either😬 Great video. I enjoyed it!
Oh man. My Saturday alone time is thrifting. I look for anything that is sale color that day meaning either 50 or 75% off. I go through and look for anything for my boys, shoes and kitchen items. I have found some freaking gems.
Those chocolate rolls look so yummy!
I love seeing how excited the kids are about the chocolate!
Enjoyed.
Lisa, I volunteer at a nonprofit thrift shop. People don't realize that thrift stores get lots of beautiful name brand children's and adult clothing! We often get donations of clothing from Old Navy, Gap, Vineyard Vines, Loft, etc. Also, you'd be surprised that people order clothes on-line and then don't return them! They donate them!!
You have 400k subscribers!
The Polo sweaters are sold at Dillards. They are around $90 at our store. Those are great finds and they look so nice.
Ohh and I wanted to share.. I have so much discard .. because it took me a few weeks to have the courage to actually use my starter 😆.. but my chickens LOVE it! I mix their scratch grains into it and form a cake for them. Also put a dollop in my dog’s kibble.. and she loves it too!
Good for you! I love classics on kids.
Where did you get your cream sweatshirt... so cute?!? Also, you're my favorite spot on youtube. :)
I worked at the Polo childrens store for 8 years before > retired. My grandchildren were well dressed. Discounts are great!
Your homemaking videos are always my favorite!
On the subject of organization- would you consider highlighting on a video about what you do in regards to your children's toys? I have 4 young children and am starting to get overwhelmed with toys in every nook and cranny of the house! The pile keeps growing larger with every birthday and Christmas as well lol.
The green Ralph Lauren sweater you get at the Ralph Lauren store and it’s $40-$60 usually. So great job!
love you!
Id love to hear how you keep toys minimal. Our biggest struggle with 6 kids is toys and the constant influx of new toys from friends and family with birthdays and holidays.
I have been buying kids clothes at consignment shops. High quality brand clothing in like new condition for just a couple dollars more and I don’t have to drive from thrift store to thrift store hoping there’s stuff in my kids size.
Love how simple you keep it with all of the boys. Relaxing video 😊
❤ your clothing organization tricks. As a Mom 4 many years ago every year I would go through and pack their seasonal clothing out and pack in bins and place them in the attic only to completely forget what was up there. 😂..fast forward 20+ years while trying to sell my house I discovered all these bins of baby clothes, toddler clothes, etc. Out of sight out of mind. 😂😂
My son is 18 now and only wears jeans, music tees and hoodies, but up to that age I bought all his clothes at thrift stores and would find expensive brands for low prices that lasted. I can't stand going to malls and picking through identical clothing on racks. I love digging for treasures at thrift stores.
I don’t think I could be minimal lol. I am already the person that has too much and I am impulsive so If I like or think it’s cute I can’t help myself. But it would be nice to have fewer pieces . Great video!
Do you ever get those clear crab spiders on the back of the cosmos? I can't handle it! I love cosmos but am so freaked out by them! haha 😅
I want to palnt my own flowers to now. A beautiful 💐 always cost a minimum $20 i love having real flowers
Me too!!
ThredUP is where I buy 90% of my kid’s clothing. I try to shop the outlet section, you get really good discounts that way. Name brands, but I’m paying $3-$5 per item. It’s easy to find the items I’m looking for, too! Between thredUP, a few favorite church thrift stores, and hand-me-downs, I have nice minimal wardrobes for my kids for not very much a year.
My oldest boy’s uniform is jeans and flannel shirts, no matter the season😅😂
Thanks for sharing Lisa! 💕
I really enjoy watching you cook! Everything always looks so 😋 yummy!
I would be cool to see you have The Minimal Mom on to help with organizing things like mud rooms! 😊
I agree. If it could be organized in a keep it tidy way then Dawn of Minimal Mom could do it.
Congrats on 400,000 subscribers 👍😁👍
thank you!
I love the little hand reaching for the piece of chocolate 🍫 😍
That pixza looked so good! I would never have thought of that sombo!
Hi Lisa, great video thank you for the sour dough recipes and beautiful flower bouquet.
Frost got the last of my zinnias!😢 because of your book and videos I discovered my love for them!! Love your channel!
I love how simple and minimal you are with your clothing and storage. I am the same way and so many of my friends and family members can’t understand it but it makes laundry, shopping and storage SO easy!!! I have been better at buying higher quality clothing tho as my kids aren’t growing as rapidly, but when they are younger they grow so fast and ruin clothes! 😆 thank you for a great video and inspiring me to get my fall/winter stuff out.
I loved this video so much!!! We’re getting ready to go apple picking here in our California mountains with our homeschool group from church and so we’re enjoying the fall vibes too! I feel the same way you do about kids clothes for the season but I can definitely find some good kid clothes at thrift stores that are brand names and better quality than target/Walmart
Love the maileg teddy in the clothes basket and the dog sniffing as you were grating cheese 😁
What about passing down clothes to other siblings? That saves money too. 😀
This is SO helpful! No joke! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
U have such great ideas! Thank u for sharing...
Ahhhh, a mudroom with shoes. My family each have their very own shelf. No drawer to open. A open shelf. So easy wouldn't you think, just to take your shoes off and put them on your shelf. Nope 🤦♀️
Constantly tell my kid's AND my husband to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put your shoes on your shelf! I feel like I'm always tripping over shoes. Hahahaha
Those chocolate rolls looks delicious!
Yeah shelves don’t work
Shoes come off and the person walks away
Better to have boot trays lined up on floor
@@YeshuaKingMessiah the shelves are right there before they come into the house. Right there. I can't stand stuff on the floor. Family of 5 with shoes on a tray will not work for me. They're still on the floor 🤦♀️🤷♀️. I'm still training and hopefully they are fully trained someday. Hahahaha
this is the stuff that makes Mom's into nags. I have always just thought, "Do it to make me happy". Yet, no one cares. Once all the kids are gone it will be this nagging they will remember.
@@denisejones1863 100% agree!! I keep telling my son's, please don't do this to your wives, so PLEASE stop this nasty habit.
🌼 love this vid! the bouquets are lovely and the chocolate rolls looked amazing! I find it easy to downsize but its just me and hubby. I can't imagine doing it for your big happy family :)
Look at your beautiful waistline. You look lovely!
well thanks!
Great video!! The chocolate recipe looked delicious!! The pizzas too!! Great organizing your children clothes! Things can get out of hand pretty quick!! The cut flowers, being the last summer hurrah, looked perfect in the beautiful pitchers. God bless your family.
You're too cute trying to figure out what 1 type of shoe can do the need if everything.... none, priceless. I have 5 kids and I hate how messy the mud room gets w all the shoes. I also have to have 2 sets of all types ie: boots/ sneakers bc my boys love to walk in puddles.
I love thrifting clothes for myself as well as my kids. OMG I save tons of money. This year I found a salvation army that allowed each parent to pick 3 pants, 3 shirts, 3 underwear, 3 socks, 1 coat, 2 shoes for each of your children for FREE, for back to school. It was awesome!!!!
Thrifting has been a staple my whole life. My momma thrifted because she had 12 kids and I really like it. I get great deals at a fraction of the cost and I dont buy junk that falls apart in a couple wearings. I always enjoy all of your videos, be blessed♡
You can get the polo or upper scale brands at at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s. They are usually between $10-$15 dollars. ,not super expensive but definitely not thrift store pricing. Our thrift stores are not great in my area so I don’t care to shop there. In a smaller town there is probably more organization.
Your home must have smelt so good it drove the kids crazy 😊 I’m such a fan of flowers yours are so beautiful
Love these kind of videos and love seeing how cute you dress the kids
I clothe all 5 of my kids from thrift shops. I highly recommend!!
The biggest negative about thrifting is that usually the stores are not as organized and curated! A lot of my friends don't like going through every single item while thrifting, but I enjoy it 🙂
I LOVE Once Upon A Child! It is a huge saver for me!!! Quality and way cheaper! We have around 5 where I live. Organized and easy to walk through!! I use to live in MO though and there was hardly any good thriftstores around where we lived :(
I did the same thing with the switching out of cloths twice a year. As my kids got older we would have a giveaway pile and a keep pile. It is a lot of work but it always felt good in the end to have everything organized. Also I loved your end of season mixed flower bouquets very colorful and pretty.
