    In the caribbean we shoot F-TR against each other, and Canada, Britain Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It's jackets, slings, open peep sights (NO scopes) at 300, 500, 600, 900 & 1,000 yards. You should really try it. When we travel to shoot we generally go to Canada or Bisley in England. It would be nice to shoot in the USA.

    I like your cleaning regimen on new barrels.
    I’ve heard many times that barrels need LEGALLY to be marked with caliber, etc.
    While the customer may want it marked, I don’t believe there is any LEGAL requirement to do so.

    Erik’s description of the nuances of shooting F Class are spot on. The mental intensity component is real. If you think about analyzing all the input for making a good wind call and condensing that in a short time for making a good hold in intense competition, it’s exhausting, but great fun!

    • @o2wow
      @o2wow Год назад +1

      Yes! t was also interesting the difference in his intensity discussing F-Class vs when he is interviewing others on his channel, in short, he is on it.

    Love hearing EC talk. At 34:00 made me smile. My son is a 2 time state FTR winner and I watched him at one match wait 6 min to take take the next shot as the mirage changed 180 deg and he waited it out for the condition he wanted.

    Gavin , you got some great advice from Eric , I shoot midrange f class but I wish he had gone a little further down the rabbit hole of history , the john “F” that he was referencing was a highpower shooter whose eyes were no longer at their prime . To get into the game now and learn the nuances of wind and mirage can only be learned not taught because your rifle will have it’s own set of constants based upon caliber, twist rate, and velocity , in my youth the game was high power and you shot only one of two calibers 30, or .224 and the effect was uniform across the course , so teaching was possible but learning was still necessary , there is nothing better than a 308 @ 1000 yds to drive that home , and bear in mind we shot iron sights with the service rifle . That pedigree and experience has no peer unless it is rimfire at 200 yds which is where I would recommend you train to be cognizant of the minuscule changes in the atmospherics and its effect on your score ,,

    Congrats to Erik on the winning of the South African F-Class match. Great job back to back wins! I do have a question regarding this video for Erik. Early in the video when you are discussing wind and hold...initially you started out using "tenths" in the discussion and then later when on target and hold during F-Class matches it became MOA. Do you bounce or what is the reticle calibration in your optics?
