Can't beat a bit of the old "Scot rock" from time to time. I know it was a bit of a bad term back in the day...but you just have to embrace what it is. Love the lyrics to this track.
Money and commerce, sadly. But with artists making timeless works to open eyes and hearts, perhaps these songs are prayers to older gods; life, love, nature.
Runrig were brilliant and this sing sung live had the fans dancing when you hwar tgat ao many of todays so called stars sont sing luve but mime to backing tracks runrig were simply amazing live, so glad thwir music still lives on
Thank you so much for uploading this! I can't believe I've never seen the music video before! This is one of my all time favourite songs, even though I'm mostly into goth and metal; this is a genre crossing, important, and timeless message.
Runrig was just a great band, their music was great, i was very fortunate to see them live twice, still listen to their music now but it was never the same when Donnie Munro left
A lifetime ago a good friend by the name of Graeme Ross offered me a job as a roadie with Runrig. In all good faith though, it was Aberdeen in the early 1980's and for better or for worse, I ended up in oil and gas. Funny how things come full circle sometimes.
They had mixed views on this version, I think it was the record label that pretty much forced them into recording it in this style. I actually love it!
Is it unfair to see Calum as the "Bez" of Runrig? OK Bez wasn't a songwriter (as far as I know), but I always thought Calum seemed a bit superfluous to the live performances. Here he is with his tambourine.
Totally unfair but I hear where you're coming from. Calum probably knew fine that Runrig would cope without his percussion but seeing as he wrote the songs along with Rory, he'd earned his place on the stage sharing the songs with the audience.
Totally unfair, I have to say. As a drummer I love the way that Calum frees up Iain by either holding down the rhythm or effectively acting as an extra pair of hands. He adds so much extra to the drive and rhythm, especially live.
Given that Calum and Rory write the songs, so many great songs in Gaelic and in English, Calum can do what he likes on stage. Personally, I love the rhythm, colour and energy of his percussion work.
We were raised on this and continue to share Runrig music as a family ❤ 🎶
Same 💙
Aye, me an'a
Absolutely fantastic Runrig are definitely one of the best bands to come out of Scotland ❤
50 years since Runrig started! They may have retired but sign of a good band their music and fans carry on!
Biggest regret is never having seen run rig live..absolutely love their music..

Woods are chopped down, lifestock is senselessly hunted, all that was great and worthy to be worshipped reduced to ashes...To what gods do we pray?
Money and commerce, sadly. But with artists making timeless works to open eyes and hearts, perhaps these songs are prayers to older gods; life, love, nature.

Get oot o Ukraine ya bunch o fannies
It was the record company that insisted the animals wete added in to the video - for benefit of kids' TV 😄 (Told on 'There Must Be Place' DVD)
no disrespect to Bruce ... but Runrig with Donnie rocks more & better & i seen both live
Donnie was the sound of Scotland to me
Bruce /donnie both legends I've no favourite love both singers exactly the same 😊
Bruce sang the songs a full key higher Bruce had a more rock country style vocal Donnie has a old style scotch style vocal not rock 😂
@@Bcb79 that`s why i prefer Donnie ... but without Bruce Runrig would have folded
