KETJAP MANIS -- He is not saying ketchup mayonnaise... I just did some digging and he is saying ketjap manis! Saving a life.
Cheers
I really appreciate this. 2 years 2 late, but thank you
I knew one day I’d all be worth it. Haha
Thank you!
Having a bunch of deer jerky is like being rich to me
Destroy alligator Yum.
YES!!!
Same
Mail me some deer
True
Love being able to make all that jerky not having to go to the store and pay $10 for only 7 oz. of pre made jerky
Beef jerky from the shops in Australia is $5 for 45 grams, I don't know why it's so expensive
10.99 lbs, 1lb after you're done drying you end up with 7 to 9oz.
ye after you buy the charcoal, spices & bbq..you'll only do it once a year
@@herokillerstain4147this it the part ppl don’t realize. After you trim the fat, and dry it out, you lose about half the weight.
So the store meat actually about doubles in price to over $20/lb for a dry meat.
Which is still slightly better than $17 for a 10oz tho but not a ton
Just make your marinade as follows, vary quantities per your taste:
2 Cup Soy Sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon kosher rock salt
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
Mix the above well
Put the sliced meat into a bowl or ziplock bag and pour sauce over it. Make sure the meat is all under the sauce. Put in the refrigerator and stir every so often for one or two days. I prefer two days.
You can cook the meat in the oven at 250 degree F until just done, but not dried hard. Put the finished jerky in a paper bag on the counter until somewhat dried out. Then eat it. You can vacuum pack and freeze it, since it really has no preservation in it.
You can also put the marinated meat in your smoker, but not the smoker you use for fish because your jerky will smell and taste like fish.
Soy sauce and salt? Is the finished jerky salty?
"Venison Beef jerky" 😆
Thank you for sharing, been looking at trying to do some jerky and this gave me a better idea of what I would be in for to do it. Be safe and be blessed!
i realize it is pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Tate Kristopher I dunno lately I have been using Flixportal. You can find it through google =) -landry
@Landry Preston Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) I appreciate it !!
@Tate Kristopher happy to help :)
food for thought I've made alot of jerky and I quite patting dry I just felt like I lost alot of flavor that way on my "hot" jerky since I primarily use hot sauce for the hot I've got results I like from leaving it soaking wet and just waiting for it to take longer to dry
ditto
Nah you definitely want to pat it down if you want it to last
When it is still warm I put it in a ziplock back so the moisture gets redistributed. It get's more sticky. Then I put it in the fridge or freezer. Then after that it's perfectly chewey
I use eye of round for jerky. Works perfect every time! Nice red smoked color!
Thanks
London broil even better no joke
Try rump roast. I used to use eye of round until a butcher told me about rump roast. It has a better bite and pull. I can't make enough for the demand.
Also a tip to keep jerky dry and crisp for day 2, etc is to store it in a brown paper bag. Not a plastic ziplock bag. The ziplock bag keeps in the moisture and makes the jerky go a bit soft.
Oh darn it gets tender….
I like soft and tender jerky tho tbh
@@MrJames-te4bw me too!
@@MrJames-te4bw yea i think its better to chew and more flavor
You can store it in glass jar and on the bottom put a silica gel (the white bag with balls in it from new shoes) and on top of it paper towel. It will absorb all of moisture from the air.
Been making jerky for nigh on to 50 years and was in a rut....this way using your method I must do. If Morrison likes it , then yes..thank you Mr. X
I never get to have venison jerky but my grandpa used to make it for us every year for Christmas. Was the best jerky I’ve ever had 😂
More than anything, best thing is: this way you know what's inside your beef jerky!
I cringe badly every time I see people eat jerky with hydrolyzed corn protein , look into what the ingredient actually is 🤢 basically just byproduct garbage turned into a solid through added chemicals and resold.
For those that don’t know kecap manis is just sweet dark soya sauce
Thanks I wasn't sure
Thanks! I heard "Ketchupmayonaise" and then he poured in this dark matter and I knew I was lost. Whatever it was I was sure it was better than Ketchup and Mayonnaise..
@@g4l430 hahaha, that's exactly what I heard. Was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone could clarify cause I sure is shit wouldn't want to put mayonnaise in my jerky marinade.
Good God I had no idea wtf this man said ketchup mayonnaise means something totally different than soy sauce even tho I could see plainly it was soy sauce wtf was he calling it that for ? I almost rage quit this video thank you for comment
@David hazelmoff coming in clutch!
Beef jerky is the ultimate snack. The beef and venison jerky you made looks really good. Cheers, Roel!
Try biltong
Did you say “ eet smakelijk”?
Geweldig!
Jerky is one of things I really miss living in The Netherlands. It’s crazy expensive here, if you can find it.
Thanks for the tips. Now I’ve got to get some “struisvogel vlees”.
Love the video, just what I was looking for thankyou! Gotta mention tho, I was always afraid of giving my dog anything with onion, garlic, leeks or chives due to the toxicity. The powders are even worse for them. Just an FYI, some people aren't aware so I wanted to mention that.
I've never tried to make jerky yet because I don't have a smoker. I just may have to try this before spending the money.
I wanted to say the same, salt, garlic and onions are a no no for dogs
Good point chuck!
You can also use your oven at low temp for about the same amount of time, use liquid smoke in the marinade to get a Smokey flavour added ✌️😊
I love Beef-Jerky that is the reason I bought a dehydrator for about €60,- its sooo simple. Get the perfect beef, marinade it, place them in the dehydrator and let it run for 10-12 hours. Done. Perfect Jerky and Taste :-)
I make it in my oven 170 for 4 hours! Prop oven door open slightly with wooden spoon handle for air flow! Comes out perfect everytime!
I finally broke down and looked up kecup manis, only to discover that I have been making a version of it for years as a salmon marinade. 1 cup soy sauce then dissolve enough brown sugar to take it to the two cup mark. Finally double the volume with water and marinade at least three hours, over night if possible. Then dry and smoke on alder.
Thanks for that..
i rewatched 100 times. had no idea what he said. thanks
@@jason1217346 Ditto. Thanks Jim Cook
Thank you for the direction, any particular fixed wing you recommend that's a good stable flyer with a good amount of air time?
@@jason1217346 🤣
Home made jerky tastes a little bit better a couple days later. I agree with you what you said. It kept getting better each day.
I actually make beef jerky from beef heart. I only use salt and I think it tastes much better right after it was dried, but maybe that's just because it's organ.
Excellent, learned some tips for my next jerky batch. I never have added rub after marinade. Impressive you can do it on a komado. I use my pellet or my Masterbuilt gravity.
Humor, chemistry, food, entertainment,incredible abode.
5 stars
Try our BILTONG AND DROEWORS ...... BADBOYS
A Traditional South African Delicacy Truelly Awsome
Biltong is king, pepper, salt, coriander are my preferred spices.
Yeah, beef jerky is like sad biltong ;-) Best droewors is Kudu with a bit of Lamb's fat.
Liplikking LEKKIRRRR NJAMMIES
your sweater is making my head spin, I must admit I had a few pints already...but good adviiicceeeee
Bedankt💪
Best technical video I have seen. Your marinade looks amazing, the dry rub after it is the a great plan to boost flavor. What what that black stuff you used for the beef marinade?
Kecap manis
You can make it by using one cup of soy sauce, keep disolving brown sugar in it until the level reaches the two cups mark, then add water to double the volume till 4 cups. Wait over night and you have your Kecap Manis.
Jij praat zoo goed engels ik dacht wtf hij praat op eens nederlands mooie video man
Dude sliced it up with a damn sword 🤣
Looks great but still nothing beats good old biltong for this saffa. Love the videos. Keep them coming
Glad to see the growth of the channel. You Deserve it. All of you. Take care!
So diferent from all I have watched previously!
Looks lightyears a part from the rest! I Must Try!!!
Thanks for the video
Great vid and thanks for sharing, but I do NOT scrape off the marinade when I make my jerky. Oc course to each his own.
Biltong > jerky. If you've had biltong (&droewors) you would know...
"I've never had venison beef jerky before"
FBI open up
Its called venison jerky not venison beef jerky
How many days would it last in room temperature? Thanks!!
Hey vraagje, is er een website waar ik het vlees zou kunnen bestellen voor het maken van de beef jerkeys?:)
Bottom round is also useful for jerky. I need to give your wet marinade/dry rub method a try sometime. Keep oooon grilling.
I also use venison shoulder for Jerky!
Can you use beef flank to make jerky?
Finally we got a proper place for those final subtitles
OKAY... Hold the Door!!
This is the first time I have ever seen someone use WET & DRY on the
same Beef Jerky... Genius
Whoever says that you should use only lean meat for jerky has never tried brisket jerky. Fat is flavor and that is true for jerky. It may not last for six months or a year, but who buys beef jerky and keeps it that long? Make fatty jerky.
Is it the same process with a proq cold smoker cabinet. Do you just have to go longer with the cold smoker generator.
Thanks again guys
When I close my eyes... The voice of your sidekick sounds like KERMIT THE FROG 🐸 ... Lol 😂
Oh, and great & simple beef jerky recipe... 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Ur mom is Kermit
ohhh with ketjap manis! why have i never tried that in combination with jerky before, such a great idea! thanks!
You lost me at fresh ingredients and whatever kejaptmanis is.
is indonesian sweet sauce..
@@scaramaxxx malaysia sweetsauce
Ketjap Manis is sweet soy sauce. It’s Indonesian. A Dutch colony so pretty much engrained in the Dutch kitchen.
LMAO I thought ketchupmayonaise
@@robhappe2705MALYASIAN SWEET SAUCE
So Im new to making jerky I was concerned cause I saw mine turned a grey color while marinating but I'm glad mine isn't the only one
My Guys. That Sounds awesome. But can U Guys Help with the ingredients? I didnt get half of it. Espacially the First one and the rub
PLEASE Can make one in the dehydrator because not everyone has the grill ?...
Sorry, what is the first ingredient in the beef marinade?
you guys must try make biltong 100% better than jerky
Venison beef jerky? Is that a new breed? A cross between a cow and a deer?🤭
How did you learn to pronounce kecap manis so perfectly?
Wish I could have found the recipe in writing as I couldn’t understand you or all the ingredients. Went to your recipe page, no recipe for this jerky.
Quick question... Do we cut with or against the grain? I like cowboy style jerky but it doesn't get as chewy as I like when I cut against.
Im listening to you because you obviously have good taste, you have a Pyrenees in the thumb. GENIUS.
Best cooking channel I found on RUclips BY FAR
If venison jerky is made right it is absolutely incredible 🤤
It’s weird because I really like fatty beef jerky.. when I go get meat to make it I always look for the fattest cut, yum😊
Fat on jerky goes rancid quickly, it's to be a voided. Your better off dipping in fresh rendered tallow before eating, that's what I do.
@@6foot8jesuspilledpureblood82 i always keep mine refrigerated!!!!
What's the first ingredient in the beef marinade? Ketchup mayonnaise?
What a wonderful jerky!
I will use your video as a reference for my jerky making.
1:30 half cut of “ketchup honest”. Where do i buy that from.
How about putting the list ingredients on the screen? You know, For non english speaking viewers?
Yes check the links for ingredients
links suck.
Its ketjap manis i think
Thank you for the great video and ideas . I might suggest that when your music comes on I found myself keep going for the volume to turn it down so I had to go up-and-down throughout the video which was annoying other than that great
beef jerky is the best, we have lots of awesome brands here in Australia but nothing beats the homemade - i got to try out Turkey Jerky a few years back when i was in the USA - anyway great recipe guys, always enjoy your videos!
In Australia you should have access to kangaroo and camel that should make great jerky
@@charlesroberts3910 Crocodile, water buffalo and magpie geese. All quite good.
Gonna dry up some hop happy kangaroo. Never tried pat drying the marinade up with paper towels. Will lessen the dry time. Cheers.
Why would I have frozen beef? Especially if it's better to have good beef? Genuinely wondering if frozen is just specific to your circumstances or it's preferred.
It’s easier to cut thin is the reason I don’t think he totally froze it. Just to firm it up.
Wow! Beef tenderloin! That’s some top shelf jerky but, I agree that would be the best beef cut to use. Maybe eye of round. Venison is always my go to. Way more tender and flavorful. I usually make mine from whitetail blackstrap or one of the hind quarter roasts. Top round, the eye of round or even the bottom round. Super tender and flavorful. I always butcher my deer either the day I harvest it or the next morning. Any longer and it does start to take on a gamey flavor.
Awesome!!! Definitely going to try this!
Can you use an air fryer or dehydrator?
Can you make it with the pieces being bigger? More meatier? Will it take away from the flavor?
It can make it go bad sooner. After some point it would be like keeping cooked meat in the cupboard.
I miss my Ketjap Manis.
See, the doggo has great taste also! Venison is my favorite red meat.
Tenderloin for Jerky? Blasphemy. Done 47 secs in.
Awesome video and great spices and marinade...but I could not understand what was the first liquid ingredient you put in the beef marinade ??? I listened a few times but cannot quite understand what he said ..great video! I hope to find out this mystery ingredient!
It's called Ketjap Manis and it's extremely popular in the Netherlands.
Google translate tells me it's called soy sauce manis in english
@@Deppie_____ thank you so much!!!!
I never heard of ketchup mayonnaise that doesn't look like what I googled that looks more like some kind of barbecue sauce
Ketjap manis = sweet soy sauce
Why not also try droewors? Even better than biltong or jerky.
RUclips did it again... Ketchup mayonaise 🤣🤣🤣 IT'S KETJAP MANIS, STUPID TRANSLATION.
Edit:
It got worse... Cactua mines 🤣🤣
thanks mate just watching the video and couldnt figure out what it really is :D
Holy shit, I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who heard that
THANK YOU! I’ve been wondering what it was 😂 I always thought he said ketchup madness
I heard it too. Funny thing is that ketchup mayonnaise is a thing here in North America. It would have been horrible to 7se.
it's KETCHUNAISE you heretic.
“we don’t want the temperature to go over 70 C.”
me: My PC runs at 70 C while playing games… So could i hypothetically make beef jerky in my pc? 😂
I assume you won't marinate beef if you just dehydrating for beef stew or beef vegetable soup.
Morrison, "Ive never had venison beef jerky"....and in fact you still have not. He later just said venison jerky...bingo!
how long does it last till it expire?? iwanna make it for commecial
Great video. A coworker brought some in to share with us and it was amazing. I’d never had it before. Now I have to learn to make my own. I think it’s a great carnivore diet snack.
What was the first thing he said Ketchup mayonnaise? I couldn’t tell can someone please help me here
Ketjap manis
made it from roe deer, love it!
Much rather have Biltong.
Seems like it lacks flavour in comparison to biltong.
Different strokes I guess.
Can you let the jerky dry insted of putting it on the grill?
Yes in an oven or a dehydrator. I don't know if i would trust just hanging it up at room temp but it should also work as long as you have good ventilation and low humidity.
Right on
Do you have a recipe book with written instructions? And how do I get it?
Same thing new for me thanks a god bless you guys
Can jerky be made from different meats?
yes, there is spicy chicken jerky, teriyaki flavored pork jerky etc..
Theirs even fish jerky
The sky is the limit. There is a store close to my northern property that has turkey, chicken, pork, Buffalo, venison, elk, alligator, kangaroo, wild boar, rabbit, pheasant, duck, ostrich, antelope, snapping turtle, and python.
What in the hell was the first ingredient he put in for the beef because I definitely didn't catch that LOL
its called Kecap Manis. Its indonesian sweet soy sauce. I thought it was Ketchup mayonnaise for ages haha
1:53 Where do I get the rooster sauce?
In the first recipe for marinade you said a half a cup of what?
I couldn't catch the name of the ingredient in 1:29 can someone help?
Why only put a little charcoal in? How many times did you add more charcoal?
Thanks
to keep a low low temperature
I just want to hear him talk, beautiful home, oh ... jerky looks great, thank you
Got my first deer since I was 12 this week. Doing this with all the back straps.
