      No. My organ shoes became "obsolete" sometime between 1999 and 2002 - I can't remember an exact date. Since then I have preferred to play in my socks.

      I do the same, except when I "play", it's just to amuse myself and annoy the cat.

      The only time that I wear shoes is when I am going to be playing in front of my former organ instructor.

    There is no instrument that can compare to a pipe organ. The sound resonates with your body. The waves of sound roll over you. The effect is emotionally overwhelming. As for the skill it takes to play it - How do you coordinate two hands, two feet and three keyboards????? Congratulations for mastering this complex sound machine.

    • @Edwin572
      @Edwin572 Месяц назад

      It’s easy to play an organ and it will not overwhelm beginners if they follow a few simple rules. Playing by ear is easy by sticking to one key with the left hand chords and playing single note melodies with the right. You can start by doing all of your playing on the Great Manual at the start and gradually working into the other ones as you progress. You can shut off the foot pedals and play only with your hands. There will be lots of time in the future to learn them. You can produce the sounds you like by pulling out one stop at a time and playing notes on the keyboard until you find the sounds that suit your way of playing. Learning to play an organ is fun as long as you have the right attitude. Once you get started you will want to spend lots of time playing it as it will grow on you after awhile.
