Well as the adage goes; you can't please all the people all the time.... big lesson from greek mythology: don't throw away your ugly babies, their ugliness is directly proportional to their usefulness, and, above all, the consequences of rejecting them.
Oh man, Hera got crazy fast. Now I know why she is so vicious towards the ladies that Zeus often tricking or mind controlling into sleeping with him get punished or their children. Though, kinda weird to punish the otherwise unknowing than the perpetrator, but Gods be crazy. Also, poor Hephaestus. Great Video as Always. Love the passion, keep up the good work.
I am genuinely impressed that you were able to make Hera so sympathetic. It goes to show that even the gods of the pantheon are not so infallible. I am always happy to make an appearance in the comments 🙂 I can see the passion you put into each episode, and we are all truly grateful for your efforts. Making the gods practically human in their appetites makes them almost seem tangible and real. Your last video involving Zeus was one of my favorites. While it is an interpretation of his story, the way it brings his behavior into greater context was simply a work of brilliance. That video has almost changed the way I see Zeus. Keep up all the hard work, and remember to take some time for yourselves 🙂
Aaaaand now I await Hephaestus's life story, because I KNOW you two will make that one into a banger. From the lowest foothills to the forges of Mount Olympus. Great job as always =D
As lovely as these stories and narration is, I'm never not going to be creeped out by Hera and Zeus. Maybe it's being an older brother that just makes it worse. Either way, the thought of Zeus going around making children with his sisters and aunts makes me shiver with disgust. It is oddly faschinating how many religious beliefs start out with "and then the siblings made more siblings with each other". Why is that? How was it connected to small communities in early history? To later efforts by ruling families to maintain power and wealth by marriage to family? Was that somehow easier to justify, because they could claim they were simply mimicking how it was in the begining? Yep... that's what I'm pondering today, after I got poisoned at work and feel pretty rotten. 🤢 Many thanks for the tale! ❤

Man, it's tough, as one gets older, not to hear the rhetoric in some of these stories as deeply abusive. Not a fault of our story tellers, let me be perfectly clear, they're reading and collecting extant mythology here, but when you hear it in this narrative fashion, the notions of love and devotion are reliant on rhetoric that enforces an abusive hierarchy. It's hard to ignore, hopefully.
She is quite a complex figure, and sometimes boiled down to the 'jealous, vindictive wife' as we often experience her through the demi-gods/ mortal children of Zeus. Thank you for watching and commenting again! - Lightbringer

Hera was supposedly a powerful goddess, probably one of the many mother/fertility goddesses we see alot in the Middle East and Mediterranean area at the time (which may include Demeter, Artemis and Hestia) before the arrival of the conquering Ancient Greeks. She was incorporated into the Greek pantheon as a way to appease, incorporate and absorb the local population, but at the same time, forcing her into a secondary role by having her becoming the spouse of Zeus. Some historian believes this is why Hera and Zeus' marriage was far from being ideal.
