- Hello everyone. Today I want to show you how to make macrame pods!
You need:
- 4 cords 150 cm length (3 mm thick)
- 4 cords 130 cm length (3 mm thick)
- 4 cords 110 cm length (3 mm thick)
- 4 cords 100 cm length (3 mm thick)
- 4 cords 90 cm length (3 mm thick)
- 2 cords 80 cm length (3 mm thick)
- One ring 5 cm diameter
Pod height: 15 cm
Pod width: 8 cm
Pot height: 11 cm
Pot diameter: 6 cm

Thank you! I'm making one from 10 crochet cotton to go with the pot and leaves I did in 30 cotton. It's taking so long lol. I had to do 18 rows to fit my little pot. I'm at the joining the sides together step. This is going to take a few hours.

What board are you using, for your pinning and such? I’m new and y first project was a small hanger but this would be easier on my back.
For the video, I use a large pillow covered in fabric. It is also convenient to weave on a regular small pillow or cork board.

Hola hermoso trabajo. Si quiero hacer uno para una matera más grande que debo hacer? Agregar al aro inicial más de 4 hebras? o a los hilos laterales agregar más de lo que vemos en el video? Otra cosa, veo que al final sobra bastante cuerda, entonces podemos trabajar hasta 4 o 5 cm menos de las medidas iniciales para no desperdiciar. .. gracias
El consumo depende del grosor y la rigidez de los hilos, por lo que algunos pueden tener puntas, mientras que otros pueden no tener suficientes. Si desea hacer una maceta más grande, aumente la longitud de todos los hilos y coloque más hilos a los lados.

I want to make a bigger one for a bigger pot, let’s say 25 cm. What lengths and amount of cords should I use? Would love to get your help on here 🙏🏼🌷🤗
The thread consumption is approximately the following: 1 cm of the product x 5. Estimate the height of the pot, multiply by 5. Add the length for the top of the product (it is better to take at least half the height of the pot). Multiply everything by 2 (because the strands fold in half) These will be the longest strands. Then hang with shortening of the threads. The amount is difficult to calculate. But I would advise you to make a planter of a different type for such a large pot.

Once you join the 2 sides of the pod, how many times do you go around making the square knots to make the pocket for the pot? I think I counted 6 times, but I'm not sure.
I make 5 rows and starting from the 6th row I start to reduce the threads and connect through the knot.

Does anyone know if this could work the same with 5mm cord or t-shirt yarn? I don't have 3mm cord on hand but I have the other 2
It is possible, but it is necessary to increase the length of the threads. If the cord is soft and not thick, then each thread should be increased by about 40 cm.

Esta maceta es muy pequeña. Para acomodar una maceta pequeña, puede ser adecuado un hilo de 3 mm de espesor.

It all depends on the size of the pot you want to take. Multiply the length of the pot by 8 and multiply by 2, as the threads fold in half. Get the approximate length of the central cords. For subsequent cords, reduce the length by 5 cm each time. Gather the cords until the two halves close on the pot. This is an example calculation. Much depends on the density and diameter of the thread. Better take it with a margin.

Yes, you need to add the number of threads and increase the length. If you are a beginner, then I advise you to first make a pot of this size. Learn from easier lessons. Then you can calculate how long to take the threads for larger pots. Measure what size thread is needed per 1 cm of the product. Can anyone tell me: after the cords are brought together the first time and you go around, do I start to alternate the pattern a certain way or knot the same way again? Doesn’t look quite right to me🤔

You weave a pattern of square knots, and in the next row you make knots between the previous knots. Then again between the nodes and so on.
