One essential point that wasn't covered is the relationship between driving and range. For example on the motorway what sort of cruising speed would you need to keep to in order to achieve the maximum range.
This looks like a real winner. They should bring it to the US, we really don't have something comparable here (everything is faster and more expensive). The 135hp Zoe is fast enough and a more reasonable price and is very efficient (better than 4.5mi/kWh by my calculations). I have a Chevy Bolt with 200hp and really, its overpowered (I have raced a Camaro multiple times and won every time). I don't need a car that beats a Camaro, I'd be happy with the Zoe's performance.

I hate using terms like “man’s car” or “woman’s car”, but I genuinely do feel that Zoe is more designed for ladies of a smaller build. While I’ve got a friend who’s about 6ft tall driving one, he shares the drive with Mrs, whose noticeably a smaller build, and and sitting higher up would be a confidence-inspiring driving position for many. Maybe not my taste, but the fact that Zoe being a smaller car by dimension but still enough room on the inside is a winner, not to mention the more affordable price

Or even just raise the front windscreen by an inche so I can actually see traffic lights when I pull up to a junction. Not have to stick my head out the door window
If you want clean air to breathe then go all electric. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs and less maintenance costs. Gas and diesel vehicles are old polluting technology.
neither, side airbags not included (I think) which makes it an insanely unsafe car. If you want a Zoe, get the old gen, they had good proper side airbags
silly question, it has 5 doors and you can see the rear interior door handles in the vid but what about outside , do you have to open front and put your in the bac to open it
The exterior rear door handles are located in the bottom rear corner of the windows. Look closely at 00:14 and you'll see that there's a triangle shaped corner of black plastic above the rear wheel. That's the handle. I think you press the small finger sized indent to pop out the rest of the handle, and then use it like a normal handle.

The issue with the new Zoe and it’s bigger battery pack is the inability to charge at a higher rate. That means it’s slower to fill up the bigger battery.
No mention of assisted driving? I understand this car is in the lower-priced category but this is where the future is so doesn't bode well for Renault.
At 4:57 please identify where that charger in the middle of the road is located, that will come in very handy when all the various motorway and mainstream charger facilities are offline and /or busted! Can’t understand why every road is laden with them. Also is it really necessary to be holding and waving a charger around, we get it, it’s electric.
The more you drive, the more you save. Found an older article about the R90 Zoe and the cost per mile was about 52.2p. Depends a bit how you charge etc. naturally. This is with residuals etc. counted in. It's cheaper than petrol after probably like 30 miles a day driving.
For my current Zoe I pay £0.05 per kWhr overnight, so worst case example of 3 miles per kWhr works out at £0.016 per mile, compared to about £0.15 per mile in a 40 MPG petrol car.
@@johannesbekker1970 yeah for sure, it does rely on being able to charge from home and swapping to an overnight tariff with a company like Octopus Energy. If you relied on public rapid charging then it could get up to £0.10 per mile. Quite often workplaces and some car parks offer free slow charging, which makes the £ per mile even less. Also remember that a lot of the cost of petrol is tax, home electricity is only 8% VAT in comparison.
The best? The only annoying thing is driving position? The shutdown procedure alone takes some learning to do it. Big screen is not necessary nor easy to deal with. The buttons are littered everywhere and it is hard to find them. There are plenty cars on the market, that are more user-friendly. But knowing the company it comes from... You should stop experimenting Renault!
I'm still not sure if the leased battery would work for my driving. it appears expensive on paper. But I don't know If it would work out better than buying fuel?
My Renault’s battery lost 25% capacity at 45000 kms , 35% at 65000 kms... And Renault still resists to accept its own warranty promise for the battery since then... A car is Nothing without a proper service.
Have a look at an entry level EV the Renault K-ZE, nice mini SUV under $9,999 with 250 km range. Good to see some decent, under 10K over 250 km EV's coming on. This is what we need.
But remember that under 250 km is getting close to the 30kWh Leaf. That's around 5 years too late for the target market. People want 300 km to 325 km range, so that town drivers can recharge weekly, and main road drivers aren’t stopping to recharge for ⅓ of the total journey time.
As long as some EVs have an absolute ridiculous driving position - such as the Zoe or the Ampera-E - it will never get mainstream. I want to sit in a car, not on top of it.
Active air cooled. Uses the AirCon unit to blow pre-cooled air through the pack while charging. Not the most high tech way of doing it but better than the Leaf and the Zoe ZE40's batteries are showing up as very reliable, with very little degradation at all.
E208 is faster and it has intelligent cruise control, in GT trim at least. Can't get that on the Zoe. Zoe will probably go a fraction further but you have to pay extra on the Zoe for rapid CCS charging, which is kind of weird. Just sat in an e208 this afternoon. It was a beautiful car but I think the Zoe has a little more leg room in the back.
Oh, and from what I've heard I think the Zoe is probably comfier and the e208 is setup to be a little more sporty, but I've read it can feel a bit harsh.
@@cable1722 thank you. yeah at slower speed 208 is apparently bit figitty! Will check on reviews again and wait for more review and get test rides of both. 208 looks more sporty but don't understand why they have a drive shaft tunnel in middle when it's suppose to be electric, wasted space. Even new focus has lower floor in middle of rear than many electric vehicles. If both cars are good enough in general then as a new car buy I would go for the Zoe for that bit of extra range! I would spec it more sporty to differentiate from unisex appearance.
@@112deeps the e208 is definitely tight for space. I couldn't get my 8 year old behind me in car seat. Leg room just too tight. I'm sure you'd be happy with either but I'd choose the e208 if space wasn't the issue. Zoe if I needed the practicality.
Robert Hirsch It’s not better in every category since I’ve been inside both of them, but anyway, it looks like a whale compared to the Zoe and I don’t want a whale, because I don’t know where to park it, for starters. I’m living in a big city and I won’t park it as easily as a Zoe. And why on earth I would want a car that weights 1,725 kilos -at least- just to move my fat ass? Then, there’s the somehow superficial but not forgettable issue that Tesla owners in my city are dicks, since they use the space between traffic lights to make drag races to their wives to show them how fast it accelerates, ignoring zebra crossings and other signals.
Always more important than the distance between your knees and the front seats is whether your feet fit under the front seats.
Having done some research. I gather that the fabric finish has been discontinued as it has proved vulnerable to tearing. Existing U.K. orders will be compensated with a free boot tidy.
A beautiful little car. Not too expensive.
Looks as though I should update my 2016 battery owned Zoe for a new one! It hasn't been without problems though, including out of order for three weeks waiting parts - but all dealt with and a hire car under warranty.
What problems did it have please? I'm considering buying but people mention reliability issues
@@johnfaulkner6776 thanks John that's really helpful. I have a 2014 Nissan Leaf. The range is terrible but, like the reliability surveys keep showing, it's the most reliable car I've ever had by miles. If I could just find an EV with better range & similar reliability I'd be happy!
3:24 legroom isn’t impressive ???
This is a UK review so why is the steering wheel on the left side?
These are still pre production vehicles that why made a batch of for dealers to get pre orders. I don't think the car is going to be out for another month or so
Best car ever I have seen . When will this car come to India
Nice car👍 But that you can‘t adjust the seats in height is not good
Very true I didn't get last rendition because of this and I am disappointed they didn't fix this with new Zoe
they can't because some of the batteries are under the front seat.
The issue is it has 1 star for safety, due to having no air bags in the back? Is this bad?
left-hand-drive? not from the UK?
UK voted OUT of Europe, what else do you want?
The UK demo cars for the press release were LHD cars which were on sale in Europe-RHD models are on the way now..
R110 or R135 motors? But which is most efficient in it's conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy?
No height adjustment for the seat? Did I hear that correctly?
Same as every other Zoe...
Hi, Useful vidéo as I have a 2020 Intens. Helpful info,. BTW, there is an accessories for the trunk which hides the cables.
I Would like a video on the complex remote heating system. I’m baffled as to how to program it from home.
All the best, Richard
Issues with the App meant remote heat control wasn't yet available..Hearing in August 2020 that a dealer visit might be needed for a fix for early cars..Later cars would have had the fix in production.
Hi um could you recommend any electric cars that is good for a family of 5??!!
I took my 6' brother, his wife, and their 2 (preteen) kids to the airport in my Zoe 40 after last christmas..and their luggage in the boot..how big do you want?
What place was that in the uk?
I'm 6'2 and had to sit in one to make sure my head fit. Unfortunately my eye comes in line with the top of the window...
Rediculous why they don't have a height adjuster as everything else with the car was perfect for my needs. Or even just raise the front windscreen by an inche so I can actually see traffic lights when I pull up to a junction. Not have to stick my head out the door window
How come your test result is just the Average of the two summer and winter range of the car?
When will the US get a affordable car for the masses ..👽👀
It's beyond overdue
Never
Trump is designing 1 but it’s powered by clean Coal. 😂
@@buddha1736 And built with Space Force included.
@Quix Not even close.
If you want clean air to breathe then go all electric.
No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs and less maintenance costs.
Gas and diesel vehicles are old polluting technology.
should i get a renault zone 2021 life or a 2020 november model intense ? same price both
neither, side airbags not included (I think) which makes it an insanely unsafe car.
What kind of miles do you use? In Indonesia a mile is 2km
1 mile is approximately only 1.6 kilometres
@@margaretforrest6110 Hello Margaret! That's not true, there are many different miles. In the past every region, maybe even every village had their own version of a mile! Haha times were crazy when people still used those units 🍄
Love this but wish it didn't look so cartoon-ish, prefer the e-208 imo
The Corsa-E is my choice for the best looking EV this year
I'd buy one egg shaped zoe if it was levitating, if not, there are cooler options
@@soundslave They're built on the same platform I believe but yeah, it's a close one between e-208 and corsa-e for me
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! More to the point is to ask your panel-beater/repairer how hard/expensive is it to fix? Or don't prang it!
Peugeot 208e is my favourite.
Why does no one talk about the next to useless heater?
The issue with the new Zoe and it’s bigger battery pack is the inability to charge at a higher rate. That means it’s slower to fill up the bigger battery.
Bigger battery also means less frequent charging, so it might compensate depending on use case.
Would love to see a head to head comparison against the Honda e and every other small car out there!
aviva las vegas I believe the Honda e have significant lower range. Like 180 km or something
No mention of assisted driving? I understand this car is in the lower-priced category but this is where the future is so doesn't bode well for Renault.
Spit seat been avail on previous model
It came in later on in the R110...Mine didn't..
This may be a stupid question, but how come in the video the driver side is on the left, but when you order the car it's on the right?
Because they're made for both left-hand and right-hand drive markets
At 4:57 please identify where that charger in the middle of the road is located, that will come in very handy when all the various motorway and mainstream charger facilities are offline and /or busted! Can’t understand why every road is laden with them.
Also is it really necessary to be holding and waving a charger around, we get it, it’s electric.
Great looking car !
What's the constant music for?
How does it compare to an equally sized petrol car economically ? Is it cheaper to run ?
The more you drive, the more you save. Found an older article about the R90 Zoe and the cost per mile was about 52.2p. Depends a bit how you charge etc. naturally. This is with residuals etc. counted in. It's cheaper than petrol after probably like 30 miles a day driving.
@@esaedvik And the more renewable energy is pumped into the grid the cheaper it'll become I imagine.
For my current Zoe I pay £0.05 per kWhr overnight, so worst case example of 3 miles per kWhr works out at £0.016 per mile, compared to about £0.15 per mile in a 40 MPG petrol car.
@@grier2593 Is that correct ? More than nine times less ??? Oil's in for a dive, BIG dive lol !
Does it have adaptive cruise control? It’s a dealbreaker if it does not have it.
Teslabjorn just tested one in a 1000 km trip, sheck it out.
nope.
What about the AVAS sound?
Now I would buy a car for the bus like driving position he's not so keen on.
eww how old are you?
Yup. Great for a city car. These guys seem to want everything to be sporty.
Yes, I also like the driving position!!
I always thought the Renaults were pretty reliable -- the French make great trains apparently.
He said the option of leasing the battery is no longer available.
how high are you? I'd like to know a reference for the headroom.
Lots of customer reviews saying the car is unreliable with numerous faults.
2020 captur please !
How have Mini managed to squeeze such little range into their new electric car compared to Renault??
Luke Éclair Battery size!
My Renault’s battery lost 25% capacity at 45000 kms , 35% at 65000 kms... And Renault still resists to accept its own warranty promise for the battery since then... A car is Nothing without a proper service.
Thinking of getting one, but I am 182cm (5'11) don't know if it is spacious enough or I am going to feel uncomfortable in it
I'm the same height in my Zoe and you'll be fine
The screen doesn't look quite so "stuck on with gaffer tape" as the last one, but that's only because it's bigger.
Great car but again the only problem I have is they won't sell or service one in the U.S.
Sounds like an easy problem to have. Can't get one.
Does it have Apple Carplay and/or Android Auto?
Android Auto,yes.
does it have cruise control?
Benjamin Shtark yes
Great car. Still too expensive though but that will change with time....and competition.
As long as some EVs have an absolute ridiculous driving position - such as the Zoe or the Ampera-E - it will never get mainstream. I want to sit in a car, not on top of it.
So don't buy a Zoe or Ampera-E - there are lots of alternatives. Try ev-database.uk/
Are the batteries air or liquid cooled?
Active air cooled. Uses the AirCon unit to blow pre-cooled air through the pack while charging. Not the most high tech way of doing it but better than the Leaf and the Zoe ZE40's batteries are showing up as very reliable, with very little degradation at all.
It's better than e208? Apart from range what is better than 208?
"James and Kate" reviewed the E-208 and said it was small on the inside, and they couldn't get a kid's buggy in the boot..That you can do in a Zoe..
How tall are you? Can we get a review from a short person as well as standard?
My first EV choice.
base model 3 is cheaper and much much much better in every category.
Two of them almost ran me over.
@@rwhirsch Base model 3 cheaper than a Zoe? Show me the sticker prices!
The top of the line model is a similar price to the Mercedes A250e, which is a Plugin Hybrid with a very usable 40 mile electric only range.
