Glad to see you trying the OA4 Rich - the picture and sound quality are one thing (and can be tweaked of course) but for me the ease of use of them, plus the great battery life and rock solid reliability means my life as a RUclipsr now is soooo much easier post GoPro.....I love 'em! ...and yes I bought mine too!

Thing that naffs me off most about RUclips vids is that you don’t get enough engine noise (not exhaust noise). With OA and the remote mics you can put ‘em anywhere to overcome that. The remote is also really easy to use and very reliable.

I’m only on here since the morocco series, but I really like your style. Down to earth, but still very entertaining. You have a quite unique way of telling your “story”, even without it being a big ride - almost like sitting down with a friend and having a beer. Looking forward to each of your videos, and please do let us know how the DJI works, I was too often let down by GoPro for my personal use, so I hardly ever bring it anymore.

Your mate AndyManCam did a fantastic side by side comparison between the QA4 and gopro which also included the DJI wireless mic that connects straight to camera and sticks inside your helmet with a crazy little magnetic clip. I can't make it to these events. But i sure appreciate all the effort you put in to have these yearly event. A yearly celebration of motorcycling and kindness, really. I know it's an economical gamble, and far from risk free. But i know from stories and video that people love it. And you make a lot of people happy, every year. ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼

Another consideration is this Richy, I have been a Rode customer for years, both at our radio stations, and in our AV studios, but I sold all our Rode Wireless go II mics of which we had plenty and we are now using the DJI Mic 2, incredible, and as already pointed out, wireless connection to the camera so no more cables hanging out the helmet, also paired it with the Osmo Pocket 3 for doing off the bike stuff and its just a different level (forgive the pun) and 32 bit float recording which is imperative when vlogging, do note though the Actioin 5 is due in September with some tasty upgrades, dont ask how I know, but we were involved with DJI 12 years ago as a distributor and still got a few contacts there. wink wink.
Love the video again , can’t wait for this years Wildbad weekender , I just hope I don’t break my foot like 2022 and can enjoy it !!
The weekender is still the best weekend in my personal opinion. The friends you make and the laughs that are hard are hard to find anywhere else.
Jay is a top lad for doing what he has done for you.
Now just do an impulse buy and buy them haha. You won’t regret it. I love our action 4’s. They have made life so much easier.

Hi Richy, as you know, probably or not I’ve used DJI cameras since the original first version back in the day and never had any issues like the GoPro cameras suffered. Used the fourth version now for sometimes since it was launched and the settings that I use and swear by 4K 60 frames per second and then recently when I edit I uploaded to RUclips in 2.7 K. The picture is Kris clean and very very good quality. The audio are use the DJI audio adapter with the DJI 3.5 mm Mike microphone on minus 5 DB and find Mr perfect set up looking forward to seeing how you get home on your next trip with these cameras, but I’m sure you’ll be happy. Good to see/hear you, whatever the upload. Recently bought a GoPro Hero 11 to record some rides, quality is good, but the battery doesn't last long, and have no idea what mic to buy to capture voice and decent engine sound, so not used it lately.
For what its worth.. your exhaust sounds really good with this camera.
Nice little unexpected good vlog. I don't know how you and other influences ( sorry couldn't resist 😂) have the patience with any camera setup that plays up time after time, I couldn't do it. Drive me insane 😂.

I’ve been using GoPros for years but decided to go for an Action4 before my trip to Scotland last month. So glad I did. Quality and reliability top notch. I also bought the wireless mic so I could keep the camera completely waterproof. Only “negative” I can think of is that the file size is twice that of the GoPro. I think due to a higher bit rate. Worth it for the quality tho IMO.
I'm always impressed with the camera quality of the videos but we never see the fails so would not know of the reliability issues, I think Jay has a profound way of making his videos stand out and partly due to the DJI cameras. I think your on to a winner here quality looks bang on visual and audio and if you now have reliability it's got to make life easier.

Got back from picos a week ago, ventured west, cangas de narcea area, some awesome roads around there….
I'll certainly look forward to how you got on with the camera on your next Picos trip.
I've used GoPro for a few years and thankfully not had too many issues, BUT...as you say the once in a lifetime trip ruined by a lost clip or no sound, you can't do it again.
Going to the Dolomites in September, so GoPro will be on notice, because if I lose a video or sound, I'll be swapping to another action camera.

Footage looks great mate and tbh even if it was slightly worse quality it’s got to be worth the switch. I can’t imagine the frustration of losing content! It would soon get old!

Moved to Action 3 and 4 a long time back, never regretted the decision.
After GoPro failed on my Picos trip I made the move to DJi 04 definitely don't miss the GoPro issues👍

Surprised it’s taken you so long to make the switch.
I too had many, many audio and reliability issues with GoPro and recently decided to make the switch to DJI Osmo Action 4 for a tour to Swiss and Italian Alps that I’ve just completed. I’m chuffed with the footage I’ve captured during my recent tour especially because i encountered no issues whatsoever!
I’m not a professional RUclips moto-vlogger but like to capture footage from bike tours with my mates, unfortunately the reliability of GoPro caused me to miss filming a tour last year.

All seems very good with the DJI cameras. I'm still with GoPro as I haven't had any serious problems with them regarding video quality. My problem is with sound, no matter what helmet or mic I use, the wind noise is terrible. I've watched several set up videos but no success, so I'm just settling for videos and music.
Image quality isn’t in question. Sound is a big one, and frozen frames is another. It’s just not acceptable.. 👍
We’ve given up with GoPro. Between my husband and I we’ve got 4 cameras and a 360 as well as 2 remotes, and we’ve given up using them. GoPro seem only interested in releasing new models and not fixing the issues. So my husband has now got the Osmo and loves it.

Gopro would not give a shit about 5 english bikers probably 20-25 cameras at best. Although you are right they need to get their act together.
DJI are up there go pro are like iphones just assume the customer base will stay .

So many of us have had issues with GoPro. Also quite a few of us are moving to DJI! GoPro have their head in the sand with no customer service or support! By the way I am going to start charging you for that piece of footage!! 😂😂😂👍 I am coming to the weekender next year!!

Been using the Osmo Action 4 for a while and mate, can't go wrong at all. I've been testing the DJI wireless Mic 2 and that is a game changer with the Action 4.
Love the audio and video quality of this test, I reckon you can't go wrong mate.
Thanks mate. It's just nice (and very reassuring) to hear others have had the same stability. Image quality thus far (at the very early stage) looks no different. Far too many plus points to even think of going back to GP.

total agree i dumped my gopro last year as my first even euro trip with my brother alot of the audio was gone when i got home swaped to insta and action 4 never looked back
Hiey Richy, you have two options. Wait until next month to buy the soon to be released Osmo Action 5, or buy the OA4 at a cheaper price. Either way, it’s a win, win!

Ive got the Xwed 3 aswell, the poor mans version 😂 (non carbon), Its a good lid but I get the same, it presses in the top of my head causing a bit of discomfort, maybe it’ll eventually bed in.
All cameras have 'quirks' but the reliability on the osmo action cameras makes a huge difference Mr Vegas. Watch for the audio on recird starting can take some seconds intermittently, lens flare in the oa4 isnt the best. 👍

That record issue normally occurs after camera sleeps, seems DJI have a lot running via the screen circuit. Pretty sure Crazy will cover not using snapshot mode for this reason 👍
@@ImJensenKingI’m getting really loud audio at the start of recordings for about 4 seconds, then it settles down. Is this what you mean?
@@Sprig55 no but you might find that first 4 seconds are on in camera mics not the mic2 or on the 3.5 adaptor. The loss of mic connection appears to sync with the screen sleeping between recordings so on wake up the mic isn’t immediately recognised as being plugged in/connected it can take anywhere from 4-20s to reconnect. This is an issue if using snapshot mode especially. I noticed if my mic2 went out of BT range it sometimes didn’t reconnect to the camera on the same recording session so needed a stop start recording action. Hoping the new Action 5 gets better BT like the pocket 3 allowing 2 wireless mics.

I’m still using a drift ghosts s on my channel! 😂😂😂 not even joking. I do use apeman 4K as a dash view and have an apeman 1080p for other shots off the bike.
osmo action 4 is excellent mate. I switched earlier in the year and the cameras tied in with the mic is far superior to the gopro.
Rich, you have cloudy smudges on the helmet cam (4.01) - not sure if this is due to dirty ND filter or condensation, debris on the lens. Everything else looks lovely.
Yes I noticed this in the edit. I will say it would have been a dirty ND.. I will keep tabs on it tho
Action 5 should be on the way pretty soon, so maybe wait for that one if your gunna buy

Hi rich,I know gopro has problems,but the the image on the gopro is far better,just seems the fashion to swop has gone a bit mad. I had an oa4 and have a gp11,kept the 11....even though it does have glitches
Well, I'm certainly not into any form of "fashion", but I'm just tired of the reliability - or lack thereof. I can't say I've noticed any image quality drop, at all. I will base my decision on the strength of this upcoming Spanish tour. Once I'm into the edit, and the colour correction, file transfer, file management, audio correction, etc etc, I will defo be able top tell if something is lacking.

Wooo. Audio is unreal.
Being able to control gain so you're not at all peaking, gives massive room to boost in post without any clipping issues. Isn't that just bloody brilliant!

I’m sure DJI will give you a couple of cameras and gear to go along with them. They seem to be flooding the RUclips creators with free stuff then they have links to buy them. Getting tired of creators simply hawking goods the companies give them. Much less riding, more selling. Hope you don’t go down that rabbit hole.

As you were riding past trees, vegetation the leaves looked quite blurred. Is this motion blur? Why is it happening? I've noticed it quite a bit with GoPro footage. I find it annoying, The only cameras I've seen that don't do it are Sony. IIRC AndyManCam uses Sony cameras and I recall his footage is pin sharp. No blurring or pixelating.
I would love to come a Wildbad weekender on my VFR800 same as yours, but I'm a bit deaf so not good with lots of people and noise I find large gatherings quite tiring. Plus I don't drink alcohol so maybe it's not an event for me. Good luck with it anyway Richy. The Wildbad Weekender is definitely your baby.
Yes. Intended motion blur. When you put an ND filter on, it's like putting sunglasses on. So, with that, you can lock your shutter speed to that of twice the fps (cinematically correct), which gives natural motion blur (that your eyes see in real life). Can give some real lovely footage - in certain conditions. It's not for all conditions, though.
I’ve fixed all my GoPro issues in a DJI store.
Off to the picos in sept for the 1st time do you have any gpx files for some roughts by any chance. And as i dont do camping the lodges at the weekend would be great .

hah, i just replaced my 2 x NoPro's with OA4's last week Rich after the NoPro's horibly failed on me at the BMW Off Road here in Japan last weekend, my first test with the OA4's i have found a few things i need to tweak, I've gone back from HEVC compression to h.264 as my windows PC's struggle to play back HEVC and I wont be doing any color grading anyhow. I also purchased the DJI MIC 2 still not sure if I will stay with the lavelier ((first test my gain was way to high and I got distortion)) as the adapter we use for analog audio on the OA4's means you can't use during rain as it wont be water tight with the lavelier adapter as the door has to come off on the housing for said adapter. so I'm using a magnet strip on the inside of the helmet to secure the wirless mic of DJI 2. Your audio has always been top notch so I'm eager to see how you set it up mate once you commit to these cameras. many greetz from Japan 🙏👍

Out and film and come back and the audio junk making the video useless so frustrating
4k is all well & good ' but the video file size are just to Large' with long post edit times
plus the storage of the very Large file size
Yes the newer recent Go pro cams do have some problems but as you know Richy the earlier Go pro 4 silver & black were pretty good but sadly they lack of any video stabilization
I still use my Go pro 4 silver its good enough for me' as I am now.. Not so into doing hours of video blogs lol 🙂 I have my fair share

What is that haze on helmet cam?
I think that was the ND filter over the lens. I hadn't checked (or cleaned) it. As I said, it shouldn't have even made a video as I don't know the camera yet..
