FULL SCREENSHOT: www.imgnook.com... (warning, enormous pic)

107,740 lines, made with beta 2 (version 6.2)

UPDATE: Because of lots of similar questions and comments, here is some more information.
While I did START the project 16 months before I finished, I was not doing this 3 hours a day for 16 months. By no means. Here's a little breakdown.
- 1 month of whenever I felt like it
- 3 months of nothing
- 2 months of sort of solid work, I made the track and scenery up until about 1:26
- 5 months of virtually nothing
- 3 months of steady work remade second half of the track, scenery until about 1:45
- 1.5 months of intense work (2-3 hrs/day) to finish the rest in time for Tournament of Champions 2
- last two weeks was about 5-7 hours a day and I drew 30,000 lines. It was pretty brutal. I finished it a couple days late, but I got in anyway because I was saved a spot. 8-D

This is one of those videos which elevates a simple game into an art form, truly spectacular.
+muttonsword It really means a lot to me that I keep getting such positive comments 7+ years after this track's release. Thanks!
...that said, I'm still making stuff in Line Rider all these years later, and these days I struggle with having an almost nonexistent audience. So please feel free to check out my newer stuff, it would mean the world to me.
Rabid Squirrel / Ben Harvey still here 11 years later :)
This is the most 2008 thing I´ve ever seen and I love it.
I’m so glad I was able to find this again. The song sunlight has been one of my favorite songs for years ever since I first heard it here and this incredible line rider video was pure magic for me growing up. Your track is perfect. This video is timeless!!!
Same for me. I discovered and love Sunlight for this exact same reason.
I was searching for this for so long, all I had to go off in my head was 'best line rider, crazy porcupine' lol. Not quite right but I got there. I thought this had been removed, straight up teared up when I found it. This had such an impact on me as a kid.. I'm just so happy I found it again :')
I am aware. MMS is one of my all time favorites, actually.
Though I should point out that line count is not everything. Breathtaking Silence by LRG didn't break Sorvius's record but is easily the greatest scenery track ever created (if you haven't seen it go watch it now!)
I definently think that this is the best art for the line rider game I have seen. You really did spend a lot of time on it. And no matter what anyone says, it's art, great art.
hello! this video was the beginning of my journey into electronic music. line rider and this video will always have a special place in my heart
Sorry for replying to comments and monopolizing the comment space! Feel free to comment, I read all of them!
Gosh. Here I am, watching this, two and a half years after completion, and I'm still insanely proud of it. I should make it my goal to accomplish more things like this in my life, it's such a great feeling to know that I made this. I should spend less time making more and more obligations for myself and more time creating things in 2011.
That's probably the best comment you possibly could have given me :) My ultimate goal was for it to not feel like "oh wow, nice drawings. You must be a artist" but to feel like the guy was actually in an environment, on an adventure. The fact that you weren't sure which came first makes me VERY happy :D
hm, I believe I should say a few things.
1) several comments were removed due to swearing and/or replying to comments with swearing in them
2) forgive me if I monopolize the comment area, it shows up at the top whenever I make a reply to a comment.
3) I replied individually as well, but I was NOT trying to somehow improve my life, give myself confidence, gain admiration or self esteem, or anything of the sort. I did it purely for the enjoyment of myself and my viewers.

i've seen this quite a few times, and honestly it seems like its even better every time. i can barely even make a simple ramp and platform that actually works in linerider. this is a masterpiece.
read the description. The last week was definitely every day, but early on I had 3-month stretches of inactivity.
This is the best line rider I've ever seen!

4) While I did START the project 16 months before I finished, I was not doing this 3 hours a day for 16 months. By no means. Here's a little breakdown.

This is the best line rider video I've ever seen. 16 months, no wonder! This is amazing!
this video is one of the first ones that i've watched on youtube. so glad youtube suggested it again, actually brings tears to my eyes
again, sorry for responding to comments and monopolizing this space. Feel free to comment :)
Just a new comment passing by to keep this alive. You rock Squirrel! It was an awesome back in 2008 but it’s still a pleasure to watch it in 2018
hey SRP cool to see you still around. Hope you've seen some of my newer stuff! (Also I remastered this one in HD a couple years back)
holy cow, i never thought something as beautiful as this could be done on Linerider. you have a gift, be sure of that.
I should also probably say thank you to all the comments of praise. I've read all of them even if I don't reply, and it does mean a lot to me :) Thanks everyone!
Damn this game is so simple but if you make something epic with it like this you deserve really big respect !!!
I can't really describe how awesome this was in 500 characters... damn good job, you should be proud.
dude this is so crazy. i honestly cant explain how amazed i am by it. i think i already commented on this vid a while back, but i dont care xD this really is unreal and you should be extremely satisfied with yourself. this some of the best scenery in line rider history. bravo 5* and faved =D
Always when i come back watching this i think that this track has the best and coolest music sync ever. It's so cool when it says "and then there were manuals" and the music starts getting so catchy! I think this is not of my favorite line rider videos, it is the best i have ever watched. of course there are better ones with tricks and scenery, but this one looks like pure fun.
i just want to say this ;)
Think of it this way. I scene the track to a point (usually about 10-12k, that's as much as my comp can take), stop, save, save again, open the newer save, erase the scenery up until an area at the end of the scenery (the "split area"), and then repeat the process. Then I record all of them, and at the "split areas" I cut from one recording to the next. If done right, it looks like it's all one big thing.
And it does get more complex sometimes, but that's the principle ;)
@Elsammp Good question. 1) It's art. 2) It's a huge accomplishment I can be proud of. 3) I have something to show for all the time I spent working on it, and 4) I used this in essays for college scholarships, and I got the best local scholarship I applied for and the best scholarship at the college where I'm going, so they must have liked it. I like to think that this contributed to thousands of dollars in financial aid :)
@OffThaDeepEnd Why thank you :)
It means so much to get comments like this. These make my day. Really. It's one thing to be like "omg this is awesome" but another to come back years later and still think it's awesome. It's comments like these that inspire me to keep working on more projects :)
You can definentely see it progressively getting better quality throughout the video. Nice track, personally I have no patience for these kinds of things, so I commend you on your success.
I was just watching the livestream and ddaaaamn.. I haven't watched this track in a while now and I love it so much! It's still mindblowing!
Thank you for sharing this. Absolutely amazing what 16 months of dedication shows in this masterpiece!!! 5 stars!
well, it depends on what you find fun. I had a blast making this!!! (and still smile every time I watch it)
Such an awesome vid!
Love the musix (adds to the overall effect)
Oh and fabiangotslapped, who needs a life when you can make awesome lines?
This is just the type of video you see and go, "wow, I could never do this."
You have real talent! :)
all your videos have something very unexpecting at the end. that's why I love your creations.
...I might have lied when I said this would be my largest project ever. I just had an awesome idea and started something that's... pretty substantial to say the least. No idea if it will go anywhere, but it's such a good idea I'm pretty sure it'll be out eventually. But judging by my procrastination, it will probably take another year at least lol. I was thinking about trying to finish it in time for something in 3 months, but that would just be too much on top of school.
So subscribe! lol
Also, over 50,000 views! WOW! Thanks to everyone who passed this on to a friend! :)
I like how you can see the skill level progress through the track.
@bloodglacier that's a huge compliment. Thank you!!!
@ElKingDeComedy Thanks! I remember making that part of the track and deciding it would be an octopus robot. I spent several hours trying to get everything about him looking just right :P
rabid i love this track, i'm really jealous of how you can make it be like an adventure and an open world, thats something i really struggle with in my scenery. my next project will be really inspired by this :)
Hands down the best work of art I have seen in a long time.
this is really really f****** amazing!
i watched it several times already :) still great. but 16 months..wow, thats some effort youve put in...
liked this video a long time ago, glad to see it still around, still love the track and the music choice
In other news, I really love the bricks, funny text, Sorvius-inspired tubing, and whatnot. This is most definitely a classic.
Also,
My idea for tht bit was to have him burst into a coloring book like happy place, I'm glad you liked it :D
it is now a known fact rabid squirrel has made the AMAZING line rider video ever !!
Jagged Peak was the only beta 2 track (the only track with the eraser tool) for months, so people were pretty amazed when it came out. (Unconed was a beta 2 beta tester)
there's a link in the description with better quality, so I don't worry about it that much :P
gah, the music cues are completely off on youtube, I'll see if I can replace the video...
oh, but thank you!
I agree about the switch from flatsled to manuals, that was because I had a sucky (and ancient) track, and I deleted half of it and then added a manual bit.
My mom helped me a TON with the tree (she's an artist)
if you ever feel like making a longer review feel free to PM me!
I'm currently working (slowly) on a scenery tutorial. Subscribe to see it!
I have no idea how long it will take. School just started for me, so I have way less free time.
@Sssschiller That means so much coming from you! Thank you! :)
people like you and DePoe and neospud are people who can change the world. artistic and brilliant.
Oh my God, that was amazing. :)
I hope your next project turns out even more fantastic! c:
Good luck!
I am glad you where not over exessive on your nose-grinds like to many people do :-)
At first I was like 16 months yeah right but thenI saw why. Amazing work!:)
That was AWESOME!!! The best Line Rider course I ever seen!
sunlight by cornandbeans (read the credits/description)
well, the very first *BOOOOMMM* is the very end of the James Bond Breakbeat Remix by cornandbeans, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you wanted to know.
@Gozurtju haha, I suppose. Though I did and still do see this as probably the greatest thing I will create in Line Rider (maybe not the largest project, but I'd be surprised I ever decide I like another track I create more). So it's definitely a personal masterpiece - whether it's a true masterpiece is ultimately in the eye of the beholder :)
this is excellent. very good art, great playthrough, and very good songs. particular 'daydream' at the end
@hockeypuckering A microsoft notebook wireless mouse. I zoomed way in and made really small lines with the straight line tool for 90% of it.
I still get chills from watching this.
wow! 16 months? seriously! WOW CONGRATS ITS AWESOME!
WOW! That was the best track in the universe! I loved the ending and my favorite part was when we got to see Marley Jones - the eleven legged machine thing!!!
amazing! truly amazing! I have enough trouble drawing a curve without sled-man breaking his neck! keep up the great work!
You havnt been give enough recognition for this. Well done
he's not a jerk (okay maybe a little)
but BHCS is amazing as well. He has a tough time making the track really fit with the scenery sometimes, but his artistic skill is WAY beyond me :P
this video is truly truly awesome!
The music plus effort = amazing
It wasn't like I only did this.
I don't really watch TV. There isn't really a connection, but TV just feels pointless, where this is FUN. So you could think of it as not watching TV for 16 months and doing this in my free time instead.
Makes sense to me :)
@Aqwquang Thanks!
it actually wasn't as much work as you think. If I had done this 2 hours a day or so, consistently, it probably would have taken 2-3 months. I just had lots of slumps in the making...
I'm actually working on a scenery tutorial :P
subscribe so you'll be notified when it comes out!
w00t from where you start doing nose manuals and stuff the track and scenery gets good, matching Bhcs and TD tracks, great work keep it up.
also for people saying this is the best ever look up Techdawg, and BHCS.
these 2 artists are great, and this guy is next in line^^
This is the greatest line rider track I have ever seen, and I see loads! Better than anything even techdawg could make. 5/5 for the track. Good Job!
@IGotSkills3 well, I started it in spring 2007, and finished it not too much later, but 9 months later or so (can't remember too well since this was quite a while ago) I realized it sucked, had the idea of making it evolve, and redid the track to make it better starting at 2:02
The first part probably took a few hours total, not much work at all. The re-done part was more work, but the only part I really spent a LOT of time on was the two flings at the end. (continued...)
amazing.. simply amazing... i cant even explain how amazed i am i can barley even spell right
@JacksonSTUFF777 That's why they're at the end - you can stop watching whenever you want :P
And thank you very much :D
I can't even DRAW that good, much less make a working Line Rider track out of it!!! You, rabidsquirrel117, are one TALENTED individual! I'm glad I filtered by rating, not views, which still this deserves to be the most viewed too. However, IMO the credits are dragged out to long. Liked, fav'd, subbed! :D
truly the best line rider ever created you are the line rider GOD!
Hey everyone! the LCC just finished an amazing project called Evolution of Line Rider which I was in charge of, and I highly recommend that you all watch it! We decided to just put it on the official LCC page instead of everyone upload it to their own accounts because it was so enormous and so many people contributed.
Anyway, add this to the end of the youtube link to go see it!
/watch?v=wMkkmD_pYMw
This is by far the coolest one I've seen so far!
u have made my day this is the greatist thing i have ever seen on a program like this ... top F**king Job Mate
Very amazing! Best Line-Rider map i've ever seen by far! Great job!
Dude Seriously you should get paid to do this. You are godly at this. Super Fantastic Job
I enjoy going back and watching this again ^^
LOVED the giant tree and plants at the end, its just..amazing. Looks like my scenery style in through the jungleand thorns[..]
The rest was great, though
Favorited
this track is still so amazing, inspires me everytime i watch it :)
i watched this while ago in 2009 and i can say that this is still the best
ok i would never spend 16 months of my life making one of these, i got mad when i spent an hour playing with it and gave up! but that has to be the best in the world
@IGotSkills3 (...continued) MrZNF helped me with them and I remember taking at least an hour or two to get the first 3 wells of the first fling, I freaked out when I finally got it.
I'm not really sure of an overall time. the beginning through 1:45 wasn't a lot of work, 1:45 through 2:02 was a little more work, 2:02 through about 2:50 was a fair amoutn of work (balancing manuals takes some time but isn't hard once you get the hang of it) and the flings took ages. 2nd fling was easier though.
now I finally see how great this is rabid, ur a great artist
@oma0812 I found this music track happened to sync really well at 1:41, and then I planned the sync at 2:08
thanks :)
okay now that was the best course i have ever seen that was amazing
the audience is alive
Words can not describe how epic this is.
@MrZNF thanks - and yeah, they fixed it eventually, it took like a year and a half xD
@morgasmMLG that would be a fling (series of gravity wells that affect him every frame or every other frame) and an elevator. Elevators are much easier than flings, neither are "easy"
There's still a community centered around Beta 2, alive and well, at We Ride the Lines :)
I SAW THIS 5 TIMES ALREADY FTW!
Nice project man!
