  • How to replace the vapor canister purge valve on a 2006 Saab 9-3. The process should be similar for model years 2004-2011. Sometimes the need to replace this part is indicated by OBD2 codes including P0441, P0443, and possibly P0446 . In my case there was no code, but after a few rough cold starts I suspected the valve was worn and leaking air into the engine on startup. After a week with the new part, this seems to have been the correct diagnosis for my vehicle.
    The repair cost me less than $25 and only took a few minutes, with minimal tools required.

    Can faulty solenoid and any leak in line going back to canister cause starting issues in morning and poor fuel consumption? There is No misfire, very smooth acceleration.. idle little rough at 700rpm with Ac on.

    hi man, just a quick question. Could this valve be giving me a lean condition (very erratic) P0171?
    I sometimes hear the hissing sound as described

    Great video. I have a question. Will this valve cause a misfire code? And an unrelated issue. My key fob will work fine then a month later it stops unlocking my doors and trunk; when I unhook the battery and reconnect the cable it works fine for a month then stops working again. What could cause that? 03 9-3 2.0

    • @OnTheWorkbench
      @OnTheWorkbench  Год назад

      the purge valve is unlikely to cause a misfire, you might want to check the plugs, coil packs, and/or valves/cylinder compression.
      On the key issue, you might want to try taking out the battery cleaning the contacts with a light drop of alcohol, letting it dry, reassembling and see what happens. Also might be a weak battery. Not all batteries out of the box are fully charged. Also I would only use a name brand Energizer cr2032 battery. it's not worth the cost savings to use a cheap no-name battery.

      I'm having some no start issues after I've filled the tank for the first time. Starting t question this after swapping 4 different ecu's for what I'm starting to think was no reason..lol car has always run rough and choppy for few seconds on cold starts. And would even smoke a little bit. 10seconds later car ran great. You mentioned in the video that the car sounded terrible when starting. Would you say symptoms are similar to mine? Seriously sounded like the car has an aggresive Cam shaft in it for a few seconds, but only after its sat for a few hours or so and first started. After running for a bit it ran fine...
