My uncle, father and his friends did a cover of this song. And it sounded a lot like this. I loveeeeed it!!!! Brings back such good memories !! I wish my father could find the recording 😭💔
Love the Phil Collins backing vocals as well on this. They did some great work together and it's not always been as credited as highly as some of Eric's other collaborations...
Yeah Phil was great on this one. He also played drums and several other songs from Eric's '85 album. The best was yet to come though, when they did what I consider Eric's best Pop album - "August" in 1986,
I don't want to lose you, this good thing That I got 'cause if I do I will surely, surely lose a lot 'Cause your love is better Than any love I know It's like thunder, lightning The way you love me is frightening You better knock, knock on wood, baby Ooh, baby, ooh Yes, I'm not superstitious about ya But I can't take no chance I got me spinnin', baby You know that I'm in a trance 'Cause your love is better Than any love I know It's like thunder, lightning The way you love me is frightening You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby Ooh, baby, ooh (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock) Ooh, baby, ooh It's no secret about it 'Cause with his loving touch He sees to it that I get enough Feel his touch all over You know it means so much It's like thunder, burstin' lightning The way you love me is frightening You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby Ooh, baby, ooh (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood) (Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood)
In my mind any good song/melody is not necessarily a guitar song. It's what I usually make it because that's my instrument and that's how I think. Clapton did make great versions of other people's songs, though. Especially Dylan's. Here is an example of how explosive Clapton played other people's songs in the mid nineties. He was on fire :) ruclips.net/video/qyL0LyozYWY/видео.html

I don't want to lose you, this good thing
That I got 'cause if I do
I will surely, surely lose a lot
'Cause your love is better
Than any love I know
It's like thunder, lightning
The way you love me is frightening
You better knock, knock on wood, baby
Ooh, baby, ooh
Yes, I'm not superstitious about ya
But I can't take no chance
I got me spinnin', baby
You know that I'm in a trance
'Cause your love is better
Than any love I know
It's like thunder, lightning
The way you love me is frightening
You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby

Ooh, baby, ooh
It's no secret about it
'Cause with his loving touch
He sees to it that I get enough
Feel his touch all over
You know it means so much
It's like thunder, burstin' lightning
The way you love me is frightening
You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby
Ooh, baby, ooh
(Think you better knock, knock, knock on wood)

I love all Eric Clapton songs
originated victor wood
Love Bowie's version more. This one sounds too plastic. Slowhand is much better than this
What's with the bass it sounds like it's computer generated. This whole arrangement feels like a soulless facsimile.
i came for the break but it never happened.
I had to hear this by Clapton, but I don't consider it a guitar song.
